I was recently in Lima and decided to make a side trip to the northern Peruvian cities of Trujillo and Chiclayo. I took the first class bus from Lima to Trujillo (8.5 hrs.) during the day to see some of the countryside. I paid about $29 USD. The bus was very comfortable. They served 2 meals and showed 3 movies. I also used the bus to travel between Trujillo and Chiclayo (3.5 hrs). I paid 12 soles for this trip. This bus was not as nice, but not bad. I flew back from Chiclayo to Lima on LAN Peru (1 Hr.) and paid around $120 USD.

I am now in my late 50s, so I typically only have sex once a day. I usually visit clubs at night and pull a chica out for a couple of hours of fun in the hotel. This leaves the day open for other activities. In northern Peru, I took guided tours of the famous archaeological sites. I visited both Chan Chan near Trujillo and Sipan near Chiclayo. I also went to the beach resort of Huanchaco.

The clubs in northern Peru charge a small entrance fee. If you decide to take a chica, many clubs package together the exit fee, fee for the chica, and the price of drinks consumed above the 1 or 2 that is included with your entrance fee. The fee for the chica maybe a set fee by the club or more often a neg. fee fee between you and the chica. The exit fee is usually 50 soles. This is a system all mongers dislike, since we dont like to pay upfront.

I have found upfront payment to be a problem in Peru. In Lima, many of the club girls will ask for upfront payment in the the hotel room. This is something that should be neg. away during the interview in the club. I guess a lot of chicas have been stiffed by the locals in the past.

In Trujillo, I found 4 strip clubs. They are all fairly close to each other. All taxi drivers know these clubs. I really cant recommend any of them. Barbujas and Badans are across the street from each other. I paid 10 soles to enter each club and that included 2 beers. I visited these clubs on a Wednesday night. Barbujas had maybe 10 chicas and Badans about 15 chicas. The quality level was so low that I drank a beer or two and left each place. Lighting was very poor (low) in both clubs. Perhaps later in the week, the quality of chicas is better.

The other strip clubs I found in Trujillo were Starlight and Emperador. They are a few blocks away from Barbujas and Badans. They are also across the street from each other. I visited these clubs on a Tuesday night. Starlight charges a 10 sole entrance fee which includes 2 beers. If you take a chica, the exit fee is 50 soles plus a fixed 200 soles fee for the chica. This is for short time. The night I went to the club there were only 7 or 8 chicas and the quality was low.

Emperador was the best of the clubs I visited in Trujillo. It still had nowhere the quality level of the better Lima clubs. The entrance fee was 10 soles and included 2 beers. The exit fee is 50 soles and you work out the chica fee with the girl. Expect to pay around 150 to 200 soles for a couple of hours.

In Chiclayo, I found several clubs. The best club by far was Sun Light. This large club is on the edge of the city and blows away anything else I saw in northern Peru.

The entrance fee to Sun Light is 10 soles and includes 2 beers. The club has a strip show about every 20 minutes or so. There were about 30-40 chicas here on the 2 nights I was there. A fair number were quite hot by my standards and within my doable range. I would rate this club only notch or two below the better Lima clubs. The exit fee runs 50 soles. Expect to pay around 250 soles for 1.5 to 2 hours, although some girls will take 200 soles. Like everywhere, they ask for more than the real price. I was surprised that most wouldnt come down below 250 soles.

The city of Chiclayo, with the exception of a nice park in the center of the city is a total shithole. Its hard for me to see the local guys paying that kind of money. These are Lima prices. I pay around 250 soles at the better Lima clubs for a couple of hours. I didnt see any girls being pulled out. It looked like most of the guys sit around, drink beer, and watch the strip shows.

The other club in Chiclayo that has a good reputation os the Playboy Club. I let a local taxi driver talk me into going to another club by the name of Noa Noa. This was a big mistake. I payed a 5 sole entrance charge which included 1 beer. The quality here was very poor. There was nothing in my doable range. I drank my 1 beer and left.
If I ever venture back into northern Peru in the future, IŽll probably only spend time in Chiclayo and skip Trujillo. I will also check out the Playboy Club in Chiclayo. Several people have now told me that Playboy is a quality club like Sun Light.

I also want to mention that English is almost non existent in northern Peru. However, I have only completed Pimsleur I Spanish, am studying the early lessons of Pimsleur II, and I had no real problems. It also helped that all the people I met in this part of the country were very friendly.

I did enjoy seeing the archaeological sites. There isnt much to do during the day once you have seen the beautiful park in the central part of each city and checked out the larger mercados.

I paid 20 soles for a 4 hour afternoon tour of Chan Chan, the palace, and museum in Trujillo. In Chiclayo, I paid 35 soles for a 6 hour afternoon tour of Sipan and several museums.

I was out with a friend of mine that works at Club 69 (a top Lima club) a couple of nights ago. She told me that Club 69, Emmanuelle (another top Lima club), Starlite in Trujillo, and Sun Light in Chiclayo are all owned by the same person. I knew that Club 69 and Emmanuelle had the same owner, but I did not know he owned the clubs up north. This leads me to conclude that I hit Star Lite on a really off night, it is probably much better later in the week.

I have been to Lima (7 or 8 times), Cusco and Machu Pichu (two time), and Nazca. Once.

When I get off the plane in Lima, it seem the same a Mexicao to me.

Getting outside of Lima really lets you seen some great things to see.
