It is just too "friggin" hot; like a furnace at times, humid as hell, and not a drop of rain.
For your knowledge & edification: the cost to go in June or September just happens to be even more expensive.
By-the-way, my personnal opinion is that I don't think any country can "hold a candle" to Italy for gastronomic delights, maybe France, but that is yet unproven.
Never anything less than a fabulous meal. Pricing varied more if you were on the "tourist main drag" than anything else. Figure on for dinner: 30 Euros (family type joint) to 70+ for high-end stuff. The latter of course comes with a much better service, clientele and eye candy to boot !
The 1st date I had was so hot; I saw her a second time, two days later.
