I grew up in Budapest and just returned from a short Hungarian trip, so I think I know what I'm talking about. Hungary is not an important mongering destination, but if you are in the are on business -- for example, if you are a tired CIA agent looking to unwind after a hard week at a secret torturing facility -- this country will give you what you want, if you know how to get it.
Hungarian woman are some of the most sensuous in the world. They show a lot of skin during the warm months and know how to strut their stuff. Unfortunately, Hungarian attitude to business has not improved much since the Soviet occupation, and you will have to work quite a bit to get good action.

The west side of the country is easily reached from Vienna from the Sudbanhof, the rest is most accessible from Budapest. The north and the east are the cheapest but also the least sophisticated. The worst tourist traps are Budapest and Siofok (on the southern side of lake Balaton).

A lot of people have made some painful beginner's mistakes in Budapest, so remember the monger rules: DO NOT GO INTO ANY ADULT OR STRIP BARS IN BUDAPEST! DO NOT LET WOMEN YOU MET ON THE STREET TAKE YOU ANYWHERE OR TALK YOU INTO BUYING THEM ANYTHING! IF YOU ARE IN A PLACE THAT FEELS IN ANY WAY SUSPICIOUS, LEAVE IMMEDIATELY! DO NOT GO INTO PLACES THAT ARE EMPTY AND DO NOT HAVE LARGE CROWDS GOING IN AND OUT!

There are no decent whore houses or clubs in Budapest. The clubs that exist are run by the Jewish/Soviet maffia and are all rip-offs. Guess why they have those 7 feet tall muscle guys standing at the door if the place is empty? They are there in case you cannot cough up the $5000 for that Diet Coke you ordered.

If you are in the country, you can go to local bars operated by natives and sit around to see if any freelancers show up. Most people speak some English by now, so you should be able to negotiate.

It is okay to go into regular peepshows that have people going in and out and ask the girls about action.

The main drag in Budapest is Vaci Utsza, and it is a pedestrians only street. After 10PM, there will be many freelancers walking and hanging around this area. If you make eye contact with them, they will say hello, and you can take it from there, but do not go to their place or buy them anything.

A much better choice is to go into the Intercontinental or some other high end hotel and hang out at the bar. Freelancers often hang out here. See if any woman makes eye contact with you and if yes, you can start negotiating.

If you don't like this walking talking shit, you can call apartments form the Tutti Frutti magazine available at every porn shop, such as the one at the Western (Nyugati) Train Station. The magazine marks English speakers with a flag. If you visit an apartment, don't order more than 1/2 hour, which shouldn't cost more than about $50-60. If you like the girl, you can buy more time later and if you don't, at least you didn't waste too much money. Unfortunately, trial and error is the only way to find a good woman, and that is time consuming.

Tutti Frutti and others have web site with phone numbers so you can contact the girls by phone from home before you even leave for your trip, which is probably the best way to go. Here are some sites:

White in Budapest, you should not ignore the pastry. Gerbeaud cafe on Vaci Utsza kicks ass (gerbeaud.hu) and Ruszvurm cafe on the Buda side near the Hilton is sooooo good and cheap.

If you are intro cruising, check out some of the baths. Not the ones where 70 somethings have mud applied to their saggy bodies but the trendier ones -- Szecsenyi and anything on Margit Island. In the evenings, locals hang out at bars with outdoor seating around Andrassy Ut @ Jokai Ter and around Kalvin Ter.

Have fun, but this place is no Bangkok.

Awesome details on a rarely reported destination. I traveled through Budapest once and worked most of the time with little time for fun. The city is beautiful. We had dinner at Spoon, a restaurant on a boat in front of the Intercontinental. The meal was outstanding and the experience deserves a repeat. i hope to travel there again later this year and spend more time having fun.

I like Vienna. For American prices, you get superb service, while Western Hungary, Slovakia and Moravia are a short train ride away. In other words, Vienna is a great hub to reach affordable markets while also offering high quality entertainment.
