I lived in Panama for about three years in the late 1990's. Since then I return on vacation once or twice a year for a couple of weeks to do a little mongering, catch-up with old friends and overall to see how Panama is developing and the direction it is heading.

In a couple of years I will retire...I'm thinking about living/exploring part of every year in Panama and perhaps some of the other nearby countries (Colombia, CR, Ecuador, Peru, DR, etc). I can imagine traveling from country to country...spending a couple weeks in each...living in cheap (but nice) hotels, drinking cheap (but good) beer and rum and fucking cheap (but sexy) women...of course, I plan to see the sights too...but primarily I will sew my seeds, then move on to the next favored location, rinse and repeat.

Then after 3-months downrange, I plan to return to my US home to recuperate. Then 6-months or so later...head back for some more. (Can I do it on $1,000 a week I wonder...$24K per year?).

Often I read reports posted fellow club members who bash CR and/or Panama. They read a few trip reports, buy a ticket, fly down to either Panama or CR and literally expect a beautiful woman to fuck them cheaply and relentlessly every night. When that does not happen exactly as they had hoped...they become disillusioned that their microcosm sampling is reflective of the entire location.

I for one believe ALL Latin and South American countries have absolutely stunning woman that can and will provide the best sex a man can possibly enjoy...the secret is knowing how and where to find them...hence, it is a good idea to return periodically to become familiar, get to know people (make friends), and most importantly...learn from your previous mistakes.

Jaggerbowski...Can you share with us your observations of what made CR and Panama appealing? Likewise, what did you see or experience that you would consider a negative drawback? Was there anything about CR that made it superior to Panama and vice versa? If I offered you a free plane ticket to either Panama or CR...which would you choose?

You sir, appear to be one of few intellectuals on this (and most such boards). I thank you for your enquires, and hope that perhaps someday we might meet!

Re: your last paragraph; CR is world famous for its eco-tourism. I like that. Panama has 450+ years of history; I like that as well, if not more so!

Personally, I do not just select and venture to new destinations just to get laid. Although, that is always an important part of a successful trip. I go for: the culture, the history, the cuisine, the attractions; but yes the women must be part of it or it is NOT a success.

Negatives:
CR: too many sex tourists (esp. in the last few years), San Jose itself, is a "dump".
Panama: Expensive compared to the above (i.e pricing is US based), also congested, side trips are not cheap and the better lot are very distant.

Positives:
Anywhere but homebase is worth going to.

Costa Rica, in my personal evaulation has gone the way of Cuba. A former fine destination that has just happens to be past it's prime. This is not to say it's a "fate-a-comply but timing is important, as those in the know would a test to!
