Right off the bat, for those of you who know me, you're probably asking "when is Cubanut going to get back to Medellin? Well as much as I like Medellin I must say that Cali gives Medellin a run for the money. Speaking of money, Cali also allows a mongers mongering funds to go a lot further as well. I like the non-pro Medellin Paisa but I tire of their attitude quickly. This is why I frequent the casas, strip clubs streetwalkers, and of course my favorite place, Mayorista.

THEN THERE IS CALI:

So as of late, I have taken to enjoying the charms and sweetness and lower pricing of Cali girls. I enjoy Cali as well. But that's just me. I find Cali to have just as much to do as does Medellin. It certainly has as many great night clubs to hang out at and just as many great restaurants to eat at. I rally travel around a lot in Cali so I do take in a lot more than the average monger who just goes to the malls to try to pick up girls.

Well this long tall Paisa started out warm and by the end of our time together was smoking HOT! I met her in a "not so secret" place in Cali that I have yet to see a gringo go to. The place is Bar La Viente or La Viente in south Cali. be prepared to be followed by many eyes as you enter because like I said it is rare for a gringo to be there. Myself, being adventurous, bold or stupid go there on Sundays because it is the calmest day and it is also one of the only bars that are open on Sunday. They close early 10pm because on Sunday all bars must close at 10pm. The only Sunday place to legally buy a drink after 10pm is in Juanchito.


WARNING! Do not wander around outside of La Viente because it is impoverished and you will be a mark immediately. I also DO NOT recommend a newbie go here without a Colombian friend/guide. In fact the taxi drivers usually ask you if you have been to Bar La Viente before taking you there and wish you luck as you exit the taxi. The guys drink heavily and fights do break out there often.

MY BUDDY'S GIRLFRIEND BECOMES A MADAM:

I was busy enjoying one of the fruits of Cali when I got a phone call on my cell. Normally I ignore cell calls when I am in deep concentration or just deep in a Calena. However the phone rang then stopped then rang and stopped and rang again so I pulled out of my sweet poon and answered. It was my buddy calling me from the States. He called to ask me to do him a favor.

The guys commented that my buddy's girlfriend was quite good looking. I agreed but assured them I was just being nice to invite her to dinner. During dinner, we had a most unusual conversation. Now I ask you gents: How does a good looking girl with no skill sets make money? Well I'm sure we can all cum up with the same answer but I decided to try a different suggestion. I remember you giving me the address to "La Veinte" for my 1st trip to Cali back in Nov. and walking by the place during the early afternoon. I think the key is to make friends with some of the Colombianos and set up double-dates or group dates with them. They provide "social proof" that you're not just some sicko sex tourist. :-) There was one guy I got along well with who was very helpful. . . and I gave him "social proof" as well since he would introduce me to the chicas as his "amigo de Nueva York" so we sort of helped each other.

Cali, for the most part, is NOT safe. Yes, there are areas that are relatively safe. If you know the city well, speak good Spanish, and know the culture, you might be able to exist there. Cali has a higher unemployment rate and a lot of hungry people. Buenaventure is the port for Cali. There is a lot of traffic between the two cities. Buenaventura is currently one of the most dangerous places in Colombia.

I have no plans to return to Cali any time soon.

TOM, Buenaventura IS THE MOST DANGEROUS city in COLOMBIA, CALI, is/can be very dangerous in certain parts NO DOUBT! Even avenida sexta though touristy in some areas, the more you start walking up 23rd st thru 28st has many "dark spots" that you need to keep your guard up, Cali has alot alot of unemployment and HUNGRY mouths where life is cheap. ALWAYS go to the ATM's in pairs or preferably in the AM where most banks have armed security. Dont take taxis DRUNK, If leaving from a hotel in Cali, have your HOTEL call one, SIT in the front so you can see his hands and if he is taking cell phone calls or making cell phone calls, to avoid MILLIONAIRES ROW. These are just some little tidbits that can save your life. Stay out of el CENTRO after dusk. The ride from the airport is on a long and completely dark road, dont take a cab, have someone you know pick you up. Beleive me you wil feel much better. If i can think of any more tidbits I will pass them along!

Fursys, I would heed the words of a Colombia resident like Tomtom. My Colombian friends tell me the same. I have no plans to return soon despite the phenomenal non-pro action and girls. Odds are you won't get whacked on your trip, espec. if you stay in the relatively wealthier North Cali. Consider, I run into many Cali gals in other Colombian cities. Cali was a bit better when I used to go in '04-'05, but even then, there were still a lot of armed guards and troops everywhere.
