The buffet breakfast was great.
The hotel had arranged for a car to go pick-up my luggage. They arrived a few minutes after I checked out. No charge!
The PR chick, "Monica" was a doll. I'll dig up a pic. Note: Back home I wrote her boss a thankyou note as she did go the extra mile.
The bus left at 2:45 for the two hour trip up the coast to Punta Del Este. From the PDE station, a taxi to the hotel followed.
The "L-Auberge" was a BIG mistake! It was out in "no man's land". It looked like "Neverland" or "Disneyland" or both! It was full of older filthy rich people. If that wasn't so bad, my room was straight outta Mary Poppins. I was in a tower of a goddamn castle. I strolled down to the seashore and noticed that where the strip (read: peninsula) was, was 16 km. away. I knew I had to move. Made it happen, as the hotel was very accomodating. Agreed to stay for the night and at 7:30 left for downtown. The place I wanted wasn;t open so I went next door to "El Tonel' and had a whole bottle of the local red, water, salad caprese and a bife de lomo in a mushroom sauce. Then ice cream. With tip 700 UGP, or $ 24 USD. Next a cab ride to the "Conrad Casino". It was a gala night out for these young lovely contessa's. A sight to behold. Pity the pics did not turn out. Then a 3rd cab to "La Plage Disco" Closed. Season is over! This is before the end of FEB. He then took me to the "La Casa de Nana" a brothel in "Maldonado". Lots of girls there in their own little rooms. Actually some tough choices, BUT you had to be quick. Picked "Charito", a 27 y.o. who spoke good English and was lots of fun.
