I stayed at the new DYNASTY in Pattaya for about $60/night because Dynasty offers a free transfer from their Bangkok headquarters. Dynasty is a shoddy, bare bones place, but at least they don't have bed bugs.
The best hotel by far on this trip was the new CITICHICK that just opened (http://www.citichichotel.com/). For $80/night, you get designer furniture, central light and climate control, huge bathroom with a deep tub and a glass bathroom wall that lets you watch your babe while she is in the shower plus excellent service. TRANSFERS:
I paid 1000 THB for a taxi from the airport to Omni Towers. On the way back, a cab I found on the street charged me only 350 THB from the hotel back to the airport. One of the best food bargains in Bangkok is the little bottles of freshly squeezed orange juice you can buy on the street. They are typically 20 THB per bottle but you can get them for half as much in back alleys and further away from main roads. I drank gallons of it. While in the Nana area, you must visit some of the Middle Eastern restaurants in Soi 3. My favorite was an Indian joint called Al Hussein (75/8 Sukhumvit Soi 3/1). I also frequented a rather expensive creperie called Crepes & Co. that has good Crepe Suzette (http://crepes.co.th/). Many fancy hotels in the area have great breakfast deals suitable to Westerners who don't want to start the day with a spicy Thai dish.

This is my favorite type of entertainment. Most of the upstairs shows in Potpong are rip-offs, but some of the King's Group's upstairs facilities have genuine shows.
