After I got back to the hotel I could not sleep and it was pouring rain in SP. Wanted to cash some traveller cheques, get a sim card et al, but had to wait till 9:30 in the morning for it. In the meantime while surfing on the web came across Barbara Ferraz @ http://www.assaradonas.com.br/barbara%20ferraz.htm and decided I had to hook up with her before my flight to Porto Alegre. Ended up hunting for for her email address and found it through google, emailed her with a translation in portuguese. She emailed me back in 20 mins and ended up making an appointment to see her at her place which is close to paulista and augusta.

Went to her place which is a nice building and she was dressed in a tiny bikini that left little to the imagination and instantly reminded me that I need to work out more. She is super fit and toned. They decided we should hit Carmens and we got there at 11:30 pm. Apparently Carmens has become the most popular spot and has gotten expensive. R50 admission which gets you a bucket of three beers and the same after that in R50 increments. The guys tolds me the girls start at around R250 and go up. If I decided to go with a girl its R50 for one girl to the house. We sat there drinking for an hour watching the strip show, checking out the girls walking by and watching what other locals were doing. A big mix of girls, from Drop dead beautiful to "No way". the girls are pretty laid back and will approach if you call them, make eye contact or ask the table steward. At 12:30 one of the local pornstars put on a dance show I wanted to hookup with her but she never came out of the dressing room. None of the girls I tried to chat with knew English and ended up with the guys translating for me and negotiating. the guys hooked with up with 2 girls after 20 minutes of negotiating and they were bi (This is apparently uncommon at Carmens from what my buddies tell me) and agreed for R350 and went away. they have rooms upstairs and each one has an attached bathroom. We ended up in the shower and after soaping each other up, we started making out in there. Same for the guys. I counted only 3 guy who came in alone while I was waiting and rest came in groups of 4-6. Most of the girls were blondes or brunettes and I saw only 3 mulatas. I did see a hot japanese girl before I left. They have enough signs there that says no camera's or cell phones and I watched them through out 2 guys who did try to answer a call.

The guys finally down and we got out and headed back to the hotel. We ended up discussing on what happening and I found out of a couple of things. 2 of the guys ended up picking their girls pretty late and had to wait for their rooms. After 10 minutes one of the girls suggested they go the attic instead. The guys said okay and followed them. The attic (the closest translation I can relate to) was basically a huge room on the top of the building with open showers and 5 circular beds for group fun and gang bangs. From my observation that is very likely as guys came in groups and not uncommon for them to pick up girls and go as a group. The guys ended up on the beds and ended up swapping girls for their next round. In the meantime others came in and occupied the other beds. They did not know Carmen's had this having visited this place before. They ended up having a chuckle about me disappearing with 2 girls and were telling me to slow down since it was only 24 hours having arrived in Brazil and I had already hooked up 5 times and have 2 and half weeks to go. I'll slow down in a day or two, cauz this can get very expensive at this rate.

Summary at Carmens:
The place really gets going after midnight and by the time I left there were easily more girls than guys for sure. The entrance fee is R50, get the 3 beers and quit after that. You pay R50 to the house to take one girl to the room so I ended up with R100 bill for that. The girls always start high and negotiate. My friends said that is the norm at Carmens. You simply have to know portuguese or go with someone who does. The girls there spend a lot of time talking and teasing before heading to the room, so enjoy yourself. If you're gonna be nuts like me carry extra condoms. I ended up swapping many times and ran out of rubbers while switching between the girls and one of the girls had to go and get extra while I waited with the other girl. You can smoke in club so be warned if you hate that as all the guys and girls I saw there smoked heavily. Try to go in a group if possible, makes more sense for the booze if you must drink and thats the scene there. All in all I spent R500 (50 entrance, 350 on the girls and 100 to the house for the room) and had fun with the 2 ladies and just sitting and watching people being so casual and laid back. 2 of friends who ended up in the attic paid 200 respectively for their girls and other spent 300 on his, and 50 for entrance and 50 for the house.

And again its easier if you know portuguese.

Carmen's is pricey but fun. It's the only club in town with space for a festa (up in the cobertura).

Glad you're having fun in POA. And, yes, it's unusual to find women who speak any English. Lots of them speak Spanish, Italian or German, but very little English.

BTW, the Holiday Inn is a pretty decent hotel, but a bit away from most the action. Consider the Mercure Manhattan Aparthotel in Moinhos.

Another note on Carmen's

I got very lucky as I was with a group of locals who know the scene well and were willing to guide and help me. If I went there by myself, I can say with 100% guarantee, being a visitor and not speaking portuguese, I wouldn't have ben able to manage what I did and in way for R500...... I can easily seeing spending more for what I ended up with like in the region of R700+.
