After touring around Havana Vieja for a while, I found a great place to buy cigars and some good Cuban rum but I did notice that the prices are not much cheaper than Mexico..the only difference is that the selection is better. Bought some cool Cuban lighters. I also found a shop on Obispo street that sells new Cuban baseball jersey's...so I snagged one for $50. Hotel Havana Libre also has some cool shops for Cuban flags, cigars and beaseball memorabilia.

After walking the entire Malecon, I went to Copelia to try their famous ice cream. There is usually a huge line out front for paying for ice cream with pesos. I ordered an ice cream salad (basically 3 scoops of ice cream and a cookie) for the equivilent of 8 cents. They make you sit at at the closes table and all tables must be filled. Luckily for me, the girls sat with me and one of them was hot.

It is tough to tell which girls are prostitutes and which are not because every girl from 12 to 34 years old dresses like she is going to work at Adelita's. I was really interested in this fairly cute latina with nice B cups. After a while, I asked her if she would like to show me around the city and go for dinner later. We cruised down La Rampa down to the Malecon. I held her hand but she was scared as there were police everywhere. She suggested we go somewhere else and I suggested my casa.

We went back to my apartment about 5 am and she was very shy at first. She did not seem very experienced as I had to guide her every step of the way. Unless you purchased your cigars from an authorized Habanos S.A. location what you more than likely purchased were counterfeits. Cigars in Cuba can be purchase from 30%-40% cheaper in Cuban than they can be found in Mexico. Cuban cigars imported into Mexico MUST pay a duty.

It was authorized and the cigars were slightly cheaper with some brands and the same in others. Cubans highest quality cigars are exported first and the rest left to sell in Cuba. The prices at Casa del Tabaco in Havana and in Mexico are comprable. I did not venture into some of the smaller shops. Most of the better cigars will only be sold by the box and I would rather try a cigar first before buying the entire box. If you buy cigars by the box you can get them cheaper in Cuba.

All prices for cigars in authorized locations in Habana are set prices, while variety and selection for some of the stores will vary. It is a common myth that the highest quality cigars are always shipped to Europe, specifically Switzerland, while Spain receive the brunt of Cuba's cigars. However, this is not true as confirmed by Ricardo Salas Hau, Marketing Specialist, and Sr. Manuel Garcia, Vice-President, both of Habanos SA. I purchase cigars from all over the world and have probably visited every La Casa del Habano store in Mexico. I can honestly say that the cigar prices in Mexico are much higher than you will find in Cuba. The cheapest place in the world to find Cuban cigars, outside of Cuba, is Spain.

BTW, for all those mongers who are also deeply interested in Cuban cigars, Sr. Manuel Garcia will be in Tijuana on November 15th at La Casa del Habano (address at bottom). While not yet available for purchase Sr. Garcia will have a sample of the new Cohiba Siglo 6. David (the owner of La Casa del Habano) will also be launching the new Guantanamera cigar as well.
