2008/05 Pussyboy - Rio: Diamonds in the Rough
I am no fan of Latin America. I am devoted to Asia and Europe, but I had to visit Rio at least once.
Rio is a shit-hole. Don't let anybody fool you about this. Rio is no match to Bangkok as a city. The planes are almost always delayed and filthy, Copacabana is dangerous even during the day, the food sucks, the prices are high, the people are lazy and stupid, the water is rough, hardly anybody speaks decent English and filth is everywhere.
Expect to pay $7+ for a medium range cab ride. The food is not much cheaper than in the U.S., unless you are eating crap from the street. An overnight with a garota will costs at least $300, and many girls think of an overnight as 2 hours + 3 hours emptying your fridge and messing up the place. One garota drank all my alcohol, stole my cheap sunglasses and all my organic chocolate bars. Thermas such as Solarium, Monte Carlo and Quatro are about $200 for an hour of petting and drinking followed by an hour of sex. Agencies are the best deal at only $120+ for 2 hours, but you never know who they send. I am giving you all prices in U.S. dollars. The dollar is presently down at 1.6 Reais -- thanks to our genius administration.
Ipanema and Leblon are quite safe around the clock if you have sense but if you try to hang around at any point along the beach or anywhere else, you will soon be harassed by favela kids who will try to snatch whater they can and run. Copacabana is much worse. Bums from the favelas play various tricks on tourists. Perhaps the most genuine trick is the throwing of bird excrement on your shoes, which is followed by an offer to clean it up for an exorbitant price. After dark, Copacabana is outright deadly. You have been warned.
After all this, is there a reason to visit Rio besides the breath taking views? I must concede the answer is yes. Whatever Rio lacks in amenities, honesty, cleanliness and practically everything, it almost makes up in the quality and quantity of its women. The thermas are a great example. My favorite was Solarium because of its affordable, flat price and high quality girls. Still, Help disco blows away even the thermas. You can have 100 girls on a good night. They gather outside at around 9PM in front where you can negotiate for free. After midnight, the better looking garotas go inside for about $20. You can get very lucky in there -- including amazing deals, fake emotions, tears and partying until dawn.
I think Rio is better for black and mulatto mongers than for whites or Asians, especially if the later speak no Portuguese. Still, the girls will be well worth it for most people. If you take my advice, you should avoid Rio's dark side.
First, if you can't get a direct flight, make sure you transfer in the U.S. Transfers in Brazils are routinely delayed by several hours. I also recommend premium economy seating and an anti-bacterial mask, and don't you touch the food they serve.
Stay in Ipanema. It is far, far better and safer than Copacabana. I walked around at all hours without problems. Favela kids may ask for money, but that is it. There are guards in front of practically every building all night. Take metered cabs everywhere outside of Ipanema and Leblon after dark -- and in Copacabana, even during daytime.
Rent an apartment instead of a hotel. I used www.gringomanagement.com and can highly recommend them. David Schneider (david@gringomanagement.com ) is a good guy and very helpful. Have him set you up with an apartment in Ipanema as well as an airport transfer and a cell phone. My flight was delayed by hours, yet his driver was there when I arrived with the cell phone and apartment keys. You can bring up as many guests as you want.
Take a cab to Help and look around carefully to avoid problems. On the way out, the girls may try to force you to buy a flower for $7. You don't have to buy anything. Help cabs will try to overcharge. Just stand next to them and wave a moving metered cab down, and you will have a fair bill.
This is old advice but always worth repeating: Take your time with the girls. If a girl does not kiss or follow well, orders expensive drinks, invites her friends to freeload on you, doesn't like to be touched or turns away all the time, there is a message in that. Help girls tend to lower the price after 2AM.
Drivers with good English skills will translate for you, take you around and will even set you up with girls, apartments and most anything.

There are plenty of laundries and internet cafes in Ipanema.
I used Wash Club a lot
http://washclub.biz/
For a great Brazilian dining experience at $125/plate, I would recommend Marius (http://marius.com.br/)
I also tried several new condoms:
Inspiral -- makes your cock look like an angry cobra and totally sucks.
Avanti non-latex -- feels like a wooden barrel around your dick.
I'm going to stick with standard fare next time.
Oh, Viagra was around $75 for 4 low dose pills. Bring your own and save.
Printing out a few maps from the web of the neighborhoods you will be visiting is probably better than hauling around a commercial pocket map. I tried a portable safe, which does work well against petty thievery as you sleep. If you can, you should bring a foldable push scooter, a pair of blades or something similar. It will save you a lot on bike rentals and cab fare while providing exercise.
As always, Bwana Dick's magnificent Rio guide should be printed out and studied.
I don't think I will ever return to this rough place to look for diamonds, although there are plenty to find. I prefer my diamonds to come from a clean shopping window somewhere in Bangkok, but to each his own. If you visit Rio for sex, you will not be disappointed. It is like searching for diamonds in the rough.
PussyBoy
What a messed up report..... and misinformation. I have been to Bangkok, and there is no filth in the street? $5.00+ Lady drinks, hmm... I can see it is very different. What an incredible insult to call all Brazilian people lazy and stupid.....what a fucking ignorant thing to write! The food sucks? I guess opinions greatly vary! It sounds like whatever bad experiences you might have encountered in Rio you unconciously seeked out and truly deserve due to your small mind!
rio is my favorite city anywhere!! the food is fantastic, the people are terrific and the crime is not as bad as you think. i have met many ex-pats living there and they love it...as would i!

I'm wondering how he even had time to see any garotas if on his first trip he spent so much time on Brazilian airplanes that he was able to conclude, wrongly as it turns out, "[t]he planes are almost always delayed and filthy."
More importantly, the prices he gives, which he says are in U.S. dollars, are not accurate, except perhaps for taxis.
Guess one man's diamond is another's piece of coal.
If my perception of Rio mirrored Pussyboys, I wouldn't want to go back, too.
Personally, I would gladly return to Rio and enjoy all the diamonds I had no problem finding. (even with the poor exchange rate).
Pussyboy, props to you because atleast you can say that you tried it and didn't like it as oppose to drawing conclusions based on second and third hand info.
Any one reading this trip report should simply view this as one man's opinion and take it with a grain of salt.
Continue to enjoy the life in Asia and Europe Pussyboy. Those are some hot spots too!
Certainly a stupid, highly inaccurate account of Rio. Prices are off on everything, TAM/Gol/Varig are actually nice airlines with mostly new planes, the food in Rio is great. I will agree that Rio is dangerous but no more dirty than a lot of cities around the world, certainly not 3rd worldish unless you go into a favella. As far as not speaking English, yeah, no shit, they don't speak English.
By Kjtrav on Wednesday, May 21, 2008 - 08:51 am: Edit |
Agree with Cat if he was paying those prices the girls must have really loved him. He was probably surprised that no one was speaking Spanish since this is South America!! Rio is more dangerous but if you use common sense you are in no more danger than most big cities.
The report is not to be taken seriously as it is flawed in every area.
Areas of Ipanema and Leblon are nice and clean. And downtown Rio is like any other big metro city.
A taxi starts at 4.30R and to go from mid Copa to mid Ipanema will run 10R. But, there is other transportation like vans that cost 2R to run you up and down the beaches. The metro (very clean) takes you downtown for 2.6R and it is actually faster than a taxi.
A girl for one hour at 4x4 is 180R ($108), entrance varies. And drinking is entirely up to you how much you want to waste.
I have no idea why race matters. The working girls dont really care. I have heard all the girls say as long as the guy is not drunk, they generally always go.
Food is actually good to great. I can have a great lunch at a "kilo" for about 10R with a drink and coffee included. That is $6. A nice place like Carretao Churrascaria is 30R. All you can eat salad bar and steaks, etc. for about $20 or so. As for Marius, only gringos go there for the most part. Not worth the money in my opinion. Equally good food and service can be had for 1/2 the cost at others.
As for Help, well if you want an english-speaking girl than I guess that is your option. If you've got a 50/50 chance something going wrong with these girls though -- either the body looks like shit when the clothes come off, some argument over price or lackluster sexual performance.
There are literally thousands of "working" girls in Rio. 200R is a lot of money to a young girl. Limiting your shopping experience to just Help and termas generally isnt going to get you that diamond.
Man, did this report ever miss the boat. Sooooo much misinformation. Guess what? Solarium isn't the cheapest of the mainline termas (catch that spelling?). All of them have flat prices, if by that you mean that prices are all set in advance. 4X4 is cheaper, as is Cancun. Many agencies are 100/2 hours. I could go on correcting the misstatements and inaccuracies, but who has the time?
I feel fortunate to have survived the dozens of trips I've made to Rio. Thanks for the warning, Pussyboy (gee, interesting double meaning to that name).
The only way he could have made it sound worst, is if he had contracted Dengue.
CG

Apparently his handle is a good fit!
i hope he was staying in copa where they had that terrible odor after that rainstorm a few weeks ago

The condom review section was awesome.
"Inspiral -- makes your cock look like an angry cobra and totally sucks. Avanti non-latex -- feels like a wooden barrel around your dick. "
His report is about 75% right, the point that he makes about blacks having better fun than whites. I have to say that he is right about that point.
Ummmmm, right, Pennywise. Let's see. Your data for drawing this conclusion is ?????????? And getting one thing right (which, in fact, is probably not right) adds up to a score of 75% correct? I take it you didn't graduate from MIT?
No need to be so defensive, people. Rio has always been a controversial subject. Some say it is crap, others love it, and I had to see for myself what the controversy is all about. The girls and sites are remarkable, I did admit that.
I think a newbie should read as many reviews as possible to get different angles of view before embarking on a trip. Rio and Bangkok are not cheap to get to. The more research you do, the better the trip will be.

PussyBoy: Unfortunately research is only as good as the information one finds. For this reason, when information is posted that is not accurate, as was the case with your report, members of the community who know the information is not accurate provide a service to others by pointing out the inaccuracies.
This has nothing to do with being defensive.
Easy Fellas, He's entitled to hate Rio or any other place for that matter. I myself hate all things Mexico. Doesn't mean all of you will have the same outlook on the place I have. Just means he sees things a little differently than most of you...
Jonesie
OK...point by point:
Rio is a shit-hole. Don't let anybody fool you about this. Rio is no match to Bangkok as a city.
Bangkok and Rio are quite different, but Rio is hardly a shithole. Pattaya is a shithole. AC is a shithole. Almost all of Cambodia is a shithole. But Rio is not. It has its ugly sides. If you've spent any time along the klongs in BKK, you'd see and smell things just as bad there.
The planes are almost always delayed and filthy,First, if you can't get a direct flight, make sure you transfer in the U.S. Transfers in Brazils are routinely delayed by several hours. I also recommend premium economy seating and an anti-bacterial mask, and don't you touch the food they serve.
Do you have some sort of phobia about being in close proximity with others? OK, first, most of the flight delays I've experienced coming to Rio many, many, many times (as compared to how many trips did you say you've taken to Rio???) resulted from delays coming out of the US. Only twice have I been delayed when transferring from SP to Rio. Second, I detect no difference between the cleanliness of the flights to Rio and those going to any of the many Asian destinations to which I've flown. Again, you're basing your conclusions on how many trips to Rio? Finally, all airline food sucks. So what? Get over it. Any traveller with half a brain brings his own food along.
Copacabana is dangerous even during the day
Re-word that to say "can be dangerous" and I'll agree.
the prices are high
More so than they used to be, but compared to what? And which prices?
the people are lazy and stupid
So you were in Brasil long enough to meet a representative sample of all Brasilians and draw this conclusion fairly? I think not. Your ignorance of Brasil and Brasilians is stunning.
the water is rough
Huh? Are you talking about the quality of the drinking water or the surf along the Rio beaches? I must say I've never heard water referred to as "rough." Rough seas, yes, but rough water, no.
hardly anybody speaks decent English
That could be because the speak Portuguese. Ever been to Indonesia, Cambodia, Vietnam, Colombia, Venezuela, Peru, etc.? They don't speak English in those places either. They speak their own languages. Now why would you expect Brasilians to speak English?
filth is everywhere
Well, some places are filthy. Most are not. The same can be said of Chicago, NYC, Bangkok, etc.
Expect to pay $7+ for a medium range cab ride.
Yep. So what? If that's too rich for your blood, try the metro, the buses, the shuttle vans, etc.
The food is not much cheaper than in the U.S., unless you are eating crap from the street.
Odd. I routinely find food that costs me less than home and is better than what I can get at home. Where were you eating? It's not 3rd world cheap, but the food is generally excellent if you have a clue as to where to eat.
An overnight with a garota will costs at least $300, and many girls think of an overnight as 2 hours + 3 hours emptying your fridge and messing up the place. One garota drank all my alcohol, stole my cheap sunglasses and all my organic chocolate bars.
Last time I actually paid for an all-nighter (about 6 months ago) it cost me 200 reais and she stayed about 10 hours. That's been the norm. I've never paid anything close to $300 and never had a runner (something that's occurred numerous times in Asia). I only had one (out of countless) garota try to steal from me. If you don't want the girl to drink your booze and eat your food, tell her not to. It's pretty simple.
Thermas such as Solarium, Monte Carlo and Quatro are about $200 for an hour of petting and drinking followed by an hour of sex.
Actually, you're a bit high on the termas prices, unless you're including drinks and you're pounding down Red Bull and Whiskey. And most guys only do hour sessions at 4X4 and Cancun, where the pricing structure makes that a sensible choice. Bang your 4X4 girl before 5 pm and you'll pay only 180 reais minus drinks, which is substantially less than $200.
Agencies are the best deal at only $120+ for 2 hours, but you never know who they send.
Karlas and Scortshow are 100 reais (not dollars) for 2 hours, and you can pick the girls you want from a book of photos, and they will send you that girl.
Ipanema and Leblon are quite safe around the clock if you have sense but if you try to hang around at any point along the beach or anywhere else, you will soon be harassed by favela kids who will try to snatch whater they can and run.
You must have the worst luck in the world. I go to the beach at Arpoador (next to Ipanema) practically every day and have never had a problem with kids. Not once in hundreds of beach visits.
Copacabana is much worse. Bums from the favelas play various tricks on tourists. Perhaps the most genuine trick is the throwing of bird excrement on your shoes, which is followed by an offer to clean it up for an exorbitant price.
Ah, the shit flingers. It's not actually shit, and this stunt is easily managed. You turn to the guy, say "Va tomar no cu," and walk off. Find a napkin somewhere and wipe the stuff off. It needn't ruin a vacation.
After dark, Copacabana is outright deadly. You have been warned.
Caution is warranted; complete hyperbole is not. Puhhhleeezzze! How is it that I'm still alive? I must be the luckiest son of a bitch on the planet.
To each his own. Some facts, though. On a good night you'll find several hundred GPs inside Help. You can negotiate for free out on the Terraço, but the pussy will cost you (let's be clear about that). The cost depends on 1) your negotiating and language skills, 2) her mood, 3) the amount of time you're talking about, and 20 other factors. It costs the girls substantially less than $20 to get in.
I think Rio is better for black and mulatto mongers than for whites or Asians, especially if the later speak no Portuguese.
Not sure how you came up with this gem. I hang with mongers of every race and ethnicity, and it sure seems like everyone has a great time. I've never detected a race/ethnicity difference. I will say that guys with a shitload of money, regardless of race/ethnicity, seem to have more fun than those who are doing Rio on the cheap.
If you take my advice, you should avoid Rio's dark side.
Again, huh???? If you mean the favelas, sure. Don't go into them unless your name is Jaguar.
Take metered cabs everywhere outside of Ipanema and Leblon after dark -- and in Copacabana, even during daytime.
Hyperbole once again. At night take cabs everywhere (or the metro). During the day you can walk pretty much anywhere. If you're so paranoid you feel the need to cab it around Copa in the daytime, you should stay home--or better yet, move to Keokuk, Iowa--where you'll feel safe all the time.
On the way out, the girls may try to force you to buy a flower for $7. You don't have to buy anything.
You need to work on your GP selection skills. I've never had a Help girl ask me to buy a flower. But you're right--if they ask, just say no.
If you visit Rio for sex, you will not be disappointed.
Well, that's one reason why I visit Rio, and I've never been disappointed.
For a great Brazilian dining experience at $125/plate, I would recommend Marius (http://marius.com.br/)
Ah, that's why you don't like the food and you think it's overpriced. Marius has evolved into an overpriced tourist trap. although you'd have to be buying dinner for two and drinking copious amounts of wine to spend $125. Porcão and Carretão are much better and less expensive options.
Bwana Dick's magnificent Rio guide should be printed out and studied.
It's actually Bwana Dik. I'm glad you liked the guide, but the number of errors in your report suggest that you need to study a bit more. Professor Dik gives you a provisional F, but you can always take a make-up test.

Jonsie-
No problem with him or anyone hating Rio. I'm fine with that. It's getting so much factual shit wrong that's galling.
I was in Rio for week and running around all the time, except for the three to four hours a day I spent in heaven, I mean 4x4, every afternoon.
I must have been in a different Rio, because it ain't the city he describes.
And who gives a damn about the cleanliness of airplanes? And who does not bring his own condoms, or get American ones from Don and Ken?
I have been all over the world, and Rio is Paris compared to Bangkok.

I think he got his information from a Lonely Planet book.
http://www.news.com.au/dailytelegraph/story/0,22049,23530231-5013605,00.html
Did Gringomanagement's driver sell you a sim chip for $R35 (that you can get for $R5 on your own) when you got off the plane like he did my friend? (that was on top of the R$70 airport pick-up)
And what exactly is premium economy seating? It all sucks in steerage.
Every so often you see a report like this pop-up, and all they do is go and grab bits and pieces from other people's reports. If you read it closely, there are no specifics, just random shit he collected elsewhere.
Jones,
I hate Mexico too, but if anyone asks I can say a 30-minute session at AB is US$40-50, plus $11 or whatever for the room, etc etc. I don't triple the prices when I provide info. Big difference.
Itasca, good points, I thought the same thing. The taxiesta recommendations were real funny. A guy on his first trip, zero Portuguese, trying to say one crooked taxiesta is better than another.
This was almost Roblaw-quality bullshit.

You know, I finally got around to checking out Pussy's one other trip report, and I'll tell you it really makes the case for going to Bangkok and flying those Asian airlines over a trip to Rio.
This is what he had to say about the Japan Airlines flight:
"Clean and reliable, Japan Airlines does not bother to circulate the air to any extent during a 14 hour trip, which caused me to get sick both on the way out and on the way back. How can you not get sick when you are inhaling the rotting farts and burps of other people for hours. I thought of the sailors that were trapped in the Kursk submarine some years back and ended up suffocating. I will never fly JAL again."
But at least the hotel room was okay, right?:
"At $70/night, the OMNI TOWERS seemed like a good deal with good location, a swimming pool and excellent service. Unfortunately, they have BED BUGS!!! Avoid this place altogether or you will have these little bastards suck on your cock during the night. "
Ummmmm, maybe he enjoyed the taxis:
"I paid 1000 THB for a taxi from the airport to Omni Towers."
Must be a great negotiator (you can get a taxi for maybe 250 baht to where he was going).
Perhaps he did better in Pattaya:
"I stayed at the new DYNASTY . . . . Dynasty is a shoddy, bare bones place . . ."
After presenting a photo of a sleeping stray dog, he touts the city and people of Bangkok, who of course do not exhibit any characteristics of the third world:
"Genereous Thai feed homeless dogs so none are emaciated."
But to top it off, he seems a real gentleman, one who doesn't deserve the dangers that are present in Rio:
"The first time we had sex, she asked for a condom, but I just shoved it into her bareback. Her 21 year old body was tight and beautiful, and there I was raping her bareback."
All in his own words.

Havent been to Rio in 20 years but was in Pattaya last week and it is NOT a shithole. Modern malls, outstanding restaurants, outstanding hotels at a cheap price, etc. Maybe the bay water not perfectly clean but it's not the cesspool people make it out to be. IMHO, Thailand is no longer a developing nation...It's DEVELOPED. From what I hear and read, Brazil still a 3rd world developing nation.
LA, Funny shit... My point was that all the guys were getting on his ass like they were Muslims responding to someone who badmouthed Mecca.
Out of fairness, I've never been to Rio and maybe it is Mecca for mongers. He seems to have had a different experience which I think he's entitled to have. I would simple suggest he choose a destination more suitable to his tastes for his next vacation.
Pussyboy, I think you'd like Medellin a little more. If you badmouth the Poblado, I'll join in the code red...
By Iggy56 on Thursday, May 22, 2008 - 12:44 am: Edit |
from my point of view pattaya, was well on its way to be a shithole when i visited last time,so it ought to be one now 30 years later
Pussyboy..
I think the controversy with Rio has alway been between hombres that preferred Asians versus their Brazilian counterparts and vice versa.
A lot of people always want to stand up for something and knock something else. I think it makes them feel important.
I don't think people are defensive..they are just pointing out the what you experienced is not the norm.
You had a terrible trip.
It started with a horrible flight.
You didn't go to the better places to eat.
You had bad luck with a freelancer.
You may have had a lot to drink at the termas or perhaps a padded bill. Thus, the higher prices than what Vets normally pay.
The bottom line is that you gave Rio a shot and it didn't work out for you. Clearly Brazilian women are not your thing. At least you have Asia and Europe.
For other newbies, study Bwana's Guide more carefully. If you are open minded about Latin women and enjoy their enthusiasm for sex..I'm certain you'll have a better trip than Pussyboy did.
Enjoy the life Gentlemen
Why I love Brazil....
The first time I visited Brazil was in May 2002, and I was hooked. I made 6 trips in the next 12 months, and by May 2003, I had purchased a 4 bedroom condominium in Lagoa. I am typing this note in Brazil right now.
Before visiting Brazil, just like any other American male, I had tasted the fruits of many countries including Thailand, Amsterdam, England, USA and Costa Rica. I am not cost sensitive at all. When having sex, price is one of the last considerations on my mind. Sorry, I know that I ruining it for the rest of you. HAHAHA. But Brazil was hands down the best for the combination of beauty (yes it in the eye of the beholder) and enthusiastic lovemaking.
Here's another way to look at it. In all other countries, I just felt like a target and I would get mechanical love making. In Brazil, you were getting a whole experience, and I felt desirable. It was great. No wait. It was fantastic. It was a dream come true.
But my love affair with this country is not just about chasing tail. I see a country with enormous economic potential that is going to be unleashed despite rampant corruption.
I love my life here. One of the reasons is that I love the restaurants here in Brazil. I can say that the best meals of my life have been here in Rio de Janeiro. One of my hobbies is to go to the absolute best most expensive restaurants in the city. I never go to Mariús. If you take the time, you will find restaurants that rival the best restaurants in the world. I also live in a relatively small city in the US, and when people visit form there, they all agree that many of the dining options in Rio simply do not exist in various cities in the US. Yes, it is expensive but for me it is worth it.
So try these restaurants. Terzetto, Mr Lam and Olympe. Olympe is generally considered to be the best and most expensive restaurant in the whole city. For churrascaria, I love Carretão.
But it does not end there. I am amazed by the fruits here in Brazil. There are many fruits that you can't get any place else in the world. Acaí is amazing and scientists are finding that there are many anti oxidants in its chemistry. Maracujá, and then my favorite of all agua de coco.
I also love the climate here, and the life style here. It is much more laid back and of course centered around what I believe are some of the best beaches in the entire world. They are big, and it is such a beautiful site on a sunny weekend day. Literally tens of thousands of people. One of my favorite past times.
Lagoa is also a runner's paradise. In fact, many runners also run up and down the beach, but I run Lagoa. Today is a holiday and I probably saw over 200 other runners when running the 7500m circle. In the United States, I almost feel like I am running alone when I am outside.
So Pussyman, I agree with you. I have traveled all over the world and lived in many international locations. And where I have gone there are many things that are different and undesirable. But I always try to focus on the differences that are special and enjoyable. Focus on the positive rather than negative. Life just becomes more pleasurable particularly when learning the diversity of the incredible world we live in.
You mean we're supposed to take seriously a guy who is concerned about losing his organic chocolate.
His report is about 75% right, the point that he makes about blacks having better fun than whites. I have to say that he is right about that point.
Pennywise you're correct IF your idea of having "better fun" is living up to the adage associated with your handle when dealing with garotas.
I need to make one correction. Escort services are usually 150 Reais for 2 hours. That's roughly $90 and a great deal.
Whether you support or condemn me, you all make the mistake of thinking I am rejecting Rio. Re-read my report. I hated the city but praised the women. They are diamonds in the rough -- as I put it -- and one of them gave me some of the best sex I have had anywhere. So for me the trip sucked but the sex was definitely worth it.
A newbie who is trying to decide which capital to visit should read more than just rave reviews. Critical reviews are useful, and all of my reviews are extremely critical because I have extremely high standards. One thing I learned from all this is that in order to have a great time, it is best to find a place you love and return to it regularly, learning the language and the system as much as you can.
My favorite place in the whole world is Bangkok, and I am already booking my next trip there. I may never go back to Rio, but that doesn't mean I fault anyone for loving it. It is one of the great capitals of the monger world.
PB
when I saw the title "Diamonds in the rough" I thought you found some good girls in the R$ 15 dives.
Too bad you did not call me, could have gotten some things much cheaper.
I think pussyboy has some valid points, though he clearly exaggerates a lot. He seems to be confusing R$ and US$. Most of his prices are true in R$. Or he really was taken for a ride everywhere.
But for those who have been to Asia, prices in Rio are totally out of whack. I still remember my US$ 300 a MONTH hotel rental in the Philippines. The US$ 10 for 2 hour girls. US@ 25 for 24 hour girls. Here I can show you US$ 10 girls, but these prices are for 15 minute romps.
Danger? definitely. I walked around in Favelas in the Philippines (but always with a resident).
Never set foot into any favela in Rio. I live here, and hear the weekly gunfights from the nearby favela.
Even favela tours, I would not dare to join them. Nobody can foresee when there is a shootout in a favela. I think one favela tour once has been in the cross fire and the tourists thought it was entertaining.
So safety, sure, Rio is bad. From what I heard, in Bangkok, a murder is big news. Here it is only big news if 6 corpses are found in one single van.
But, Brazilians are the soccer champions and the fuck champions of the world.
Any cheap flights from Rio to Bangkok or Manila? Would not mind a visit over there, but probably it is too expensive. Suppose it is over 2000 dollars.
PB-
Virtually no one is faulting you for your views on Rio, although some are defending Rio's charms. It's the facts that you got very wrong that set most of us off. I prefer Rio to Bangkok. You prefer Bangkok to Rio. Different strokes for different folks. Just keep the facts straight in your reports.
when I saw the title "Diamonds in the rough" I thought you found some good girls in the R$ 15 dives.
Too bad you did not call me, could have gotten some things much cheaper.

sorry for the double posting. I appreciate if someone manages to delete it.
I see a few problems with the post. But not as many as the others see.
Certain facts:
escort services cost at least R$ 100 per 2 hours. Add 40-60 taxi and you are at the value pussyboy told the second time. If you get one of the R$ 250 agencies and pay taxi to Barra, you easily get up to 200 dollars.
I don't think you get much more from the US$ 200 agencies then you get from the US$ 100 agencies.
And the girls at Karlamodels get relatively worse pay then they got 8 years ago. They just froze the prices and were about the only service in Brazil to do so. The taxi probably doubled or tripled during that period.
I still yearn for the old times, when the minimum wage was US$ 20, termas Monte Carlo cost US$ 20 and the "rip of the gringo" price was US$ 40. Help girls did cost $ 20 too. Up to the time when they started the Real currency, prices were close to that. 100 dollars was the total ripoff dumb gringo price in Help before 1992.
The cheap brothel fuck was US$ 2-3 before these times.
There was a huge jump in prices the day they introduced the Real. and in the last few years it just consistently went up.
Before Lula, it was an unattainable dream for the minimum wage to reach US$ 100. It was in the US$ 60 range. Now, a few years later, it is US$ 250 (mainly due to exchange rate differences and inflation). And if you ever look at a supermarket cashier, most workers are not 20% as efficient as their counterparts in the US, so they actually cost more.
I understand that in many places in Asia prices have not gone up much. Guess Brazilian price increases compare more to Korea (which priced itself out of mongers' reach) then to Thailand or Philippines.
But yes, Brazil has the sex quality that others don't have.
About food: even inside Brazil there are cheaper places. I had a good Chinese all you can eat buffet in Curitiba for R$ 3.50.
I can eat in a cheap fast food Chinese restaurant in Los Angeles for a few dollars. Yes, they don't have waiters, but I don't really need them.
I am trying to remember, I believe Ex Porcão in NS Copacabana (now kilograma) was dirt cheap, way under 5 dollars for all you can eat, 15 years ago. Even a few years ago when the dollar was R$ 3.50, it was probably 6-8 dollars.
In the Philippines, I ate for a dollar at very clean places. I don't mean the dirty street places where Filipinos eat for 30 cents.
* Agencies are the best deal at only $120+ for 2 hours, but you never know who they send.
Once you pay the taxi, Karlamodels costs you US$ 100 nowadays. With almost all others, you don't know what they send you and they probably cost you up to US$ 200. And I always see people picking the other agencies, because they have beautiful photos they ripped off playboy, or R$ 400 escort sites in Salvador.
* Thermas such as Solarium, Monte Carlo and Quatro are about $200 for an hour of petting and drinking followed by an hour of sex.
that is R$ 335 at today's exchange rate. I believe you get the 40 minutes deal with no drinking for R$ 260 at these termas. The one hour program is actually more expensive then our friend's quote. With not a single red bull and Whisky.
So I don't find too many mistakes with this guy.
* the people are lazy and stupid
education is the pits in Brazil. High school graduates speak absolutely no English in spite of a few years of English classes. If they went to public school, English classes might have been cancelled for a few years. Or the English teacher would be unable to talk to one of us.
Anyone in Southern Brazil would call Cariocas and Bahians and Northeasterns lazy and stupid.
In most places in Asia, education and work ethic is much better. This is why Asia is moving up steadily and South America is stuck. Brazil is just lucky for having so many natural resources, climate and agricultural land.
* the water is rough
great surf. But scary to people who are not used to it. On my very first Rio visit ever, I walked out of the ocean without looking back, and got tossed by a wave.
* hardly anybody speaks decent English
absolutely true. Doctors and lawyers have only minimum English knowledge. With luck they can order a hamburger at Mc Donald's. Everyone else knows zero English
Compare this to Philippines, English is the second language. In Thailand, people with education speak English too. I believe that in most places in the world where education is good quality, college graduates speak good English, and high school graduates get by. Not so in Brazil.
* After dark, Copacabana is outright deadly. You have been warned.
if you learn the rules, you get by. If you are clueless, you are guaranteed to be robbed. Learn how to behave right. This includes taking a taxi for 1 1/2 block rides at night.
* First, if you can't get a direct flight, make sure you transfer in the U.S. Transfers in Brazils are routinely delayed by several hours.
It is quite sad that there are not many direct flights into Rio from the US. And yes, my Sao Paulo connections are usually delayed, the few times I flew.
Having traveled to and mongered in 74 countries I can certainly attest to the fact that Rio (and Brasil in general) has the most sexually prolific women in the world....barrrr none. I should know, I lived there almost 2 years and had a steady stream of em coming and going from my apartment all hours of the day and night.
The Thais and Flips are a distant second followed closely by the hardbodied Indonesians but as many have pointed out, it is often times mehanical.
For pure beauty and taggin dimes, Colombia is hard to beat but unless you are in a relationship with them, you are only gonna get a SBTYM encounter. Why do you think so many Colombianas are working in Panama, C.R. Peru and other places?
For sensuality, them enjoying (and sometimes downright demanding)sex, Brazil can not be beat!!
I miss some of my garotas....until I see some of the Miss Colombia beauty candidates in Medellin. Plus as I tell so many people, "I never felt as safe a single day in Rio as I do everyday in Medellin"
The prices I mention in my report are actual prices I paid (except for the agency fee, which I accidentally exaggerated). If I got ripped off, that should be no surprise. I got ripped off in Bangkok for the first time just as well.
It takes experience to get things right. That is why I believe in frequenting the same place over and over. Unfortunately, it is far harder to be a regular in Bangkok with its 12 hour time difference than in Rio. You could fly to Rio every weekend and not feel any jet lag, but Bangkok is an entirely different place.
I am still in touch with my favorite garota in Rio and would love to be in bed with her again. The problem is that I really didn't connect with the city or the culture.
In any case, having seen much of the world, I would say that at least one visit to both Rio and Bangkok is required for every monger. These two are like your required history and math classes in college. You can't graduate unless you take them. There are babes in every country but the insane volume and availability of barely legal girls and sex around the clock in these two cities is without par.
PB
I thought this website was called club HOMBRE NOT CLUB PUTA, as men lets talk. not insulted each other I gave my opinion. i didn't insult no one if the only way you can disagree with some one is by insulting them i think your on the wrong website this is CLUBHOMBRE NOT CLUBPUTA
Actually, it should probably be called Club Thick Skin.
If you are going to post information that is down-right incorrect as the OP did, you're going to hear about from the members of this board. If you're going to post things that don't make much sense, as you did, you're going to hear about it from members of this board.
Perhaps Braquinho's MIT comment was a little harsh, but be a man and fire a shot back instead of whining like a little kid. If you're going to let something this small bother you, you're probably on the wrong board.
And to correct your Spanish, you probably meant Club Puto as Puto is the masculine form whereas Puta is the feminine. Unless you meant to call us all a bunch of female whores, then you would be correct.
Have a nice day!!
EA
Pussyboy,
How do you manage to get ripped off in a place where the prices are fixed and posted at the place where you pay. "Gee, it says R$180 for an hour, but the bill says R$400. That's interesting". Then you pay the R$400 and then bitch on here about it?
Ok, your info is correct. I apologize on behalf of myself and the other vets. Now allow me to bring up the fact that you're a moron for seemingly getting ripped off by every single person from the time you landed until the time you took off.
Does that make you feel better?
I stand by the information I provided. The bill for the cheaper thermas came to R300 on more than one occasion. Of this, R180 was a flat fee for one hour of sex but as I already described, I also added another hour of patting and kissing, which meant buying drinks for me and several girls, which brought the bill to around R300. I would not call this a rip-off, but this is fairly expensive fare when compared to other Latin markets such as Cuba or Columbia.
I welcome your efforts to contradict my information with facts of your own but calling me a "moron" is not a way of accomplishing this.
Keep in mind that I was new to Rio, speak no Portugese and offered my information to similar beginners of that scene. If you are a seasoned veteran who speaks fluent Portuguese, owns a flat in Ipanema and has a dozen girlfriends who will blow you all night for nothing, your experience of Rio will be quite different from that of the average monger.
For example, I could say that because I have 6 girlfriends in New York who fuck me for free, I find it outrageous for anyone to claim that an hour of sex in New York costs at least $300. How can they be so stupid and get ripped off like that when there is so much pussy for free?
PB
I assume you have mongered somewhere else on the this planet before you went to Rio? And that as a member of this site, you had access to the information on Rio? And that you read this information? Because anyone could have told you that in a termas, YOU DON'T PAY FOR NON-SEX. You can grab ass in the boite for free, as long as you regularly take girls up you can pretty much get away with anything except actually fucking them in the bar. Now, if you're buying them drinks left and right, which is a very stupid thing to do, then it's your own fault. Because there were a hundred other guys in the same room with you, "patting and kissing" without dropping R$120 on drinks.
I agree with Blazers 100% that Pattaya is not a shithole. Just came back from a 12 day trip from pattaya!
so bwana dik ease up on pattaya !!!
almost all Asia-mongers including myself will agree that pattaya is not a shithole.
its the best place on earth. pussy available 24 hrs around the clock at very, very affordable prices for everybody !
I traveled in Pattaya at all hours, including at night in many places and found to be a very-very safe city, especially for mongers.
PATTAYA beats RIO anytime in :
a. safety
b. mongering venues
c. prices ( hotels, girls, eating, etc, etc )
PATTAYA maybe be small city compared to RIO, but it still has the best deals for your average monger.
I have a different perspective.
Unlike a couple of the above posters who have NEVER been in RIO or haven't set foot in Rio in more than a dozen years, I have hobbied in both locations within the last three years and would choose Rio over Thailand or the PI any day. The only advantage that those locales have over Rio is pricing. (Of course, in today's economic climate that's a HUGE advantage.)
If you come to Rio trying to use Asia tactics (i.e., buttering up termas girls by buying them a lot of drinks) as the OP apparently did you can feel like you're getting fleeced. If you go with the mindset that dozens of guys I've hung with in Rio have, getting high-quality sex from hot Latinas, you're going to be in heaven. What every guy who "made his bones" in Asia needs to understand about Rio is that you'll get a good to great session from these girls 90% of the time whether you sweet-talk them, buy them a drink, or not. I've been to Rio a dozen times and can count on one hand (with fingers left over) the number of starfish sessions I've had there. I've been to the PI three times and Thailand once and have had more starfish sessions there than I have had in Rio. (In fact, I had more shitty sessions on my one trip to Thailand than I've had in all my Rio trips - thank God for soapies. Maybe my trip was an anomaly. I may have to go back to Thailand this summer to make sure!!)
There is no place on earth that I've been to where girls are more overtly sexual and seem to enjoy sex more than Rio - hands down, bar none! It is absolutely idiotic for someone who hasn't sampled both places to make definitive statements that one place is better than the other. Each location has it's charms. However, in my no so humble opinion, in regards to pure sex and variety of girls - Rio wins; for pricing Asia wins. Quality of girls is in the eye of the beholder - some like Latinas, some like Asians. I guess I'm lucky, I like BOTH.
EA
I like both Asians and Latinas and have had extensive time in both hemispheres. Latinas are more beautiful for sure. I just think they were saying that Pattaya is not a shithole. Now if you want to compare Garotas to Colombianas...based upon photos on this site, Colombianas are much, much hotter.
By Laguy on Sunday, May 25, 2008 - 02:31 pm: Edit |
El Apodo: Out of curiosity when you said "thank god for soapies" did you mean that soapies were the one place you typically did not get starfish experiences in Thailand in contrast to the go-gos, or that they were where you had many starfish experiences? It is not quite clear, at least not to me.
LAGuy,
I had great times at the soapies, Hell Club and Lólita's. I hereby nominate soapies as the second greatest invention of mankind only behind the terma concept. My luck out of these venues (beer and go-go bars) was more miss than hit. Maybe it was just a first trip funk, so I won't say that I'll never go back to Pattaya. However, it's not at the top of my list of things to do. Of course, your mileage may vary.
EA
Even if I didn't buy any drinks at all, an hour of sex would have still cost R180, which is more than $100. In Pattaya, that would buy you several nights of sex. Even in BKK, that will easily get you an all nighter, and I have mongered at both locations within the last 6 months.
As for the hotness of Rio women, my original post did not question that at all. In fact, I am about to book another Rio trip. I found a very special Garota (talk about a diamond), and she is eager to see me again. Perhaps spending a week between her legs will make me see this city in a new light.

El Apodo: The reason I asked was because when I'm in Bangkok I spend much more of my time in soapies and oil massage places (like Tulip) than at go go's. Your experiences suggest there may be a method to my madness.
The reality is that if you have only been to Rio once you ought not take the license to write a trip report that discusses absolutes such as prices for food and gdp's because you don't have enough experience to really form a solid opinion.
If you know where to go, you can have R$100 an hour sex and good meals under US$10...if you need to pay less, you should not be on a mongering vacation.

PB, a little advice. Next time, don't start out with "Rio is a shit hole", and I don't think you will catch as much flack.
Enjoy!
Man, If I ever get to Rio and don't have a great time. I'm damn sure keeping my mouth shut about it...
By Laguy on Monday, May 26, 2008 - 02:23 pm: Edit |
No problem saying you don't like Rio or any other place. Just don't then proceed to post grossly inaccurate information to justify your conclusion. That is what most people here objected to.
It's like a mixture of DavidD - the ability to do everything completely wrong even after reading everything on CH - combined with the ignorance and arrogance of Roblaw - where the guy's so dumb, he doesn't know he's dumb.
It is not about not enjoying your time and then writing about it, but rather how it is written. At least keep things factual and don't make crazy ignorant statements. And then he continues on to compare BKK and Pattaya to Rio prices. While BKK and Pattaya generally a little cheaper, all nighters for the same hourly termas prices can be found in Rio at 'Help' and along various spots on Copa beach. Pulling a girl out of a bar in BKK has a 600 baht bar fine, with the girl on average costing 2000 (on the low end) to 3000. Then add in girl drinks....each costing 130-160 baht, it easily adds up to 3000 baht. So 3000 Baht is basically $100 USD, or R$165. For R$150 - R$200 (the latter being more common) it is also possible to pull all nighters in Rio. That is not much more then BKK. Now, in either place (Brazil or Thailand) you can find high end and low end....Brazil has plenty of low end cheap pussy if you know where to look and can bargain!

Jonesie, if you don't know anything about Rio, you should keep your mouth shut. His first time in Brazil, and he's talking about planes always being late, the city being a shit hole, transfers delayed by hours (how does this fucker know that?), declaring Rio better for black men, and asking people to follow his advice to "avoid Rio's dark side."
But I will give him credit for this line. It was my favorite:
"If a girl does not kiss or follow well, orders expensive drinks, invites her friends to freeload on you, doesn't like to be touched or turns away all the time, there is a message in that."
Generally, that type of woman is usually called "wife". But if she's not, it means she thinks you are a turd. Thanks for the advice!
You are absolutely right, Itasca. I shouldn't have called Rio a shithole. I take that back -- although it is probably too late.
The main reason I said this is because violent crime is an awfully real threat in Rio wherever you are, and this is something I have a hard time accepting. I have walked in the middle of the night in BKK, Amsterdam, Pattaya and other places without any problems countless of time, so perhaps you can understand my concerns.
I don't know if I will ever get used to Rio, but I do have a very special garota to see there if I go again.
PB
Was this the special one who overcharged you, or the one who drank all your booze, or the one who tried to steal your shit, or the one who.....
Itasca, I don't know anything about Rio, so I don't open my mouth about it. Glad to see your drinking and typing...

Jonesie, I said, if you don't know anything about Rio, you should keep your mouth shut, YOU being in a general sense. I was referring to him. I then went on to list several reasons why he should have kept his mouth shut. It wasn’t about you. You have made it clear that you have nothing to offer in this thread.
Sorry, my bad...

i haven't been on the board for awhile. but wow, this exchange is a real classic. a good read !!!
PB - seems like you're surviving the onslaught. i've never been to brazil so i can't comment on your facts, etc... i haven't gone there because of the bad rep on crime and what seem to be high prices for the ladies. again, since i haven't been there, i don't know if these things are true or false. but i don't care to go there and find out for myself. that is the only way you really know and that is what you did. you should be commended for that and i think some of the members did just that.
The rumors about the crime and higher prices are true. The airport problems are also true. I was delayed both ways, my buddy was delayed on the way back, my luggage got lost and was delivered 3 days after I got back and one of the recent Rio reports describes a full day of delay in Miami. I do not think you need to visit a place 20 times to get a feel for it, and my feelings about Rio is not good.
The other side of my story was that the girls in Rio are so attractive, plentiful and passionate that they may just be worth a visit even if you don't like the place. But then, there is Columbia and Cuba with girls just as beautiful if not better and very competitive prices. To put it simply, if I want more Latina ass, I might as well go to Cuba for half the cost.
One last note: Prices are going up everywhere, while our own currency and economy are in a free fall. If this keeps up, we will soon have Thai and Brazilian men come here to fuck our daughters while we drive taxi cabs and open hotel doors. Thailand is looking more and more modern while Brazil is energy independent, has a booming car and aerospace industry and has just discovered huge amounts of oil offshore. Make sure you vote this Fall!
PB
How does CDaze getting stuck in Miami - a US airport and flying a US carrier - for a day due to a late-arriving flight have anything whatsoever to do with flying in Brasil?
He WAS flying to Brazil and so were I and my trip buddy. We all few American carriers to Brazil. Whether Brazilians or Americans caused the delays is irrelevant. The point is that getting in and out of Brazil is seldom smooth, whereas you can get onto a direct flight from NYC to BKK or Amsterdam or DR and not have such problems.
PB
Ok, so Cdaze's delayed flight from LaGuardia to Miami - a domestic US flight, I believe - that got into Miami after the flights to Brasil had all left - this was due to Brasil?
And you've never had a flight delay anywhere except on your trip to Brasil? That there are never delays out of LaGuardia or Kennedy or Newark on non-Brasil flights? That AFTER ONE FLIGHT TO BRASIL you have determined, with 100% certainty, that getting in and out of Brasil is seldom smooth AND that all flights from NYC to Amsterdam and Bangkok and unspecified cities in the DR are always smooth or at least do "not have such problems"?
Do you live in the 90210 area code by chance? Are you a professional, certified tanning-salon consultant, by chance?
By Laguy on Wednesday, May 28, 2008 - 07:01 pm: Edit |
Yeah, last time I took an U.S. carrier to BKK it had mechanical problems, had to turn around over the ocean, and I lost one day. Pussy logic tells me I'd be better off going to Brasil where the flights are almost always delayed and filthy than BKK where the flights almost always have mechanical problems and have to turn around.
Incidentally, I didn't realize HE was CERTIFIED as a tanning-salon consultant. I always thought he was just winging it. Shows what I know.
Sha-Ching.
I spent 5 hours in Seoul awaiting a delayed flight to Angeles City. I spent 4 hours in Phuket because of mechanical problems and ended up missing a connection to Chang Mai. I spent 3 hours the other day at LAX because my flight was delayed, and missed lunch in SF!!!
What is one to conclude from all this madness? Not much. Shit happens, flights get delayed all over the world (but nowhere more so than in the US, as far as I can tell), and it's not the fault of any country. The logical leap that allows one to conclude that a missed connection to Brazil caused by a delayed US flight is somehow the fault of Brazil is truly astounding.

2 years ago i went from stockholm-paris-rio dejaneiro.the connection flight in paris was delayed quite a number of hours.the roof at the terminal caved in.I always blamed jaguar for that, when i should have put the blame on the brazilians for low building security.Jaguar im here by offer my deepest apologies.
would a bottle of whiskey from isle of man make up for the accusation?
OH, and there was the time (Jan. 1, 2005) when my flight from Chicago to São Paulo was diverted to Jamaica due to mechanical problems. We spent the night in Jamaica, were then flown to Miami, and the next night I went to Rio via Varig. The only flight that wasn't fucked up was the Varig flight. And that time my flight from Chicago to SP was diverted to Caracas because of a medical emergency. I'm sure the country of Brazil was somehow responsible for a member of the flight crew on United having a heart attack.
Iggy56-
I wouldn't let Jag off the hook so quickly. He probably conspired with Lula and those fucking brazilians to cave in the roof at the Paris airport.
Those damn Brazilians.....Now I understand why my flight from Miami to Chicago was delayed.
I was delayed in Houston on Friday, but I blame the local Mexicans, not Brasilians. But maybe I was wrong about that? Maybe the Brasilians told the Mexicans to screw up my flight? The flight was on Continental, but - WAIT JUST A MINUTE - it was an EMBRAER REGIONAL JET - a brasilian-made plane. That's it, the golden connection - the assembly line in Sao Paulo designed that plane to fuck me over at the exact time I was flying from Houston to National. Fiendishly clever. Brasil does suck.
I love Brasil, I love the women, the restaurants, and most of the people! I am willing to accept being a little more vigilant to keep myself and my date safe. In fact, the only thing keeping me from being there every 2 months is the distance from the northeast, and in part, the exchange rate. You can always find a reason to badmouth any destination and I think pussyboy's trip started out on the wrong foot, so his view of Brasil is skewered.
LL-
You're being very generous. How a delayed flight (not canceled, just delayed) and a dirty plane (come on, were the toilets overflowing or something?) could ruin a trip to pussy heaven is beyond me.
Cat-
Exatamente!
Oh you air carrier bottom feeders! US, Latin American and Thai carriers are all crappy, turd world organizations. It is almost faster to drive in the US than take a plane.
When I fly to BKK, I fly ANA through Tokyo. The only problem I ever had with ANA was being "forced" to travel business class because economy was full.
The problem with Rio is the scarcity of direct flights from NYC and that classy carriers do not travel there from NYC because of a stupid law that requires each carrier to fly from or to its own home country on each trip. The gov passed a new bill this year called "Open Skies" that is aimed to remove this control. However, I have not seen any new routes.
Here are my favorite carriers:
Virgin (the very best and great for Europe)
ANA, Lufthansa, Austrian & Swiss (all reliable)
Singapore (never tried it but have only heard good reviews)
I agree with Latinalover that if you find a place you love, you have to develop workarounds to visit it. If my special Garota and I are to meet again, I will have to develop some workarounds as well.

Pussyboy,
I suggest you take a boat next trip, maybe things will go better!
First off, if there are any condoms out there that make my dick look like a Cobra, hell I’d buy a box. Secondly, ones trip is always what they make of it, I love Latin women and that “Dark Side” of things as eluded to; therefore Brazil has treated me well.
Working for an international airline, I see many delays yet while travelling in Brazil I’ve never had any major delays to speak of other than traffic. Herding hundreds of people into a steel tube isn’t an exact science ya know?
Quality of women, at least he speaks reality in this area of his report. After years of travel to Latin America, I don’t find Caucasian women sexually attractive anymore. But then again, if you’re into skinny pale Asian girls that look like a poster child for the Unicef relief fund than Asia is right up his alley.
Food quality; ever eaten in Cuba or Central America, I’ve never been a fan of the meals there that’s for sure but I don't see the issue with food in Rio and area. Rio can be over priced if you don’t know the places to avoid as a Gringo.
As far as Terma’s, never been a fan and probably never will so commenting on them certainly wouldn’t be objective.

Pão de Açúcar. I wonder if PB has seen any of the other side of Rio?? If you have only been to Help and MP I could understand some of his comments.
I have been to Feira de São Cristóvão a few times. It looks like a stadium, with lots of restaurants that feature food from the north of Brazil. They also have two live music stages, playing Forro. It is a very simple and inexpensive place. I enjoy it! The people that go there are the polar opposite of Leblon and Ipanema. Drink & be happy!! Never yet found a place I did not like after some drinking.
I've been to São Crisovão a few times for forro dancing. It's lots of fun, just as Lovingmarvin describes.
It's very true; if you hunker down in Copa and never see places like Lapa at night, Santa Theresa, Jardim Botânico, Larangeiras, and so forth, you have no idea what Rio is like. It's as though PB went to LA, stayed only in SE LA, and then proclaimed LA a ghetto.
Pussyboy--
Just curious--where in Europe have you traveled on Virgin Atlantic?
Do you actually travel to places? I'm curious, because you say that Virgin is the best airline and is great to Europe, but Virgin doesn't fly to Europe, unless you consider the London area airports and Glasgow to be part of Europe (note--they are not part of the EC, have not adopted the Euro, and don't consider themselves part of Europe or to be Europeans). Even if you consider the British Isles to be part of Europe, it's hard to argue that an airline that serves two cities in the whole fucking continent is "great for Europe."
And it's interesting that one of the carriers you list among your favorites is one you've never even flown on. That makes about as much sense as drawing broad generalizations about Rio and Brazil on the basis of one trip. Actually, it makes even less sense.
Maybe you could provide us with some restaurant reviews of restaurants you haven't visited. Or how about some movie reviews of movies you haven't seen.
The value of providing trip reports and other commentary on this board comes from actual experience, not hypothetical experience, or comments overheard from someone else. If you want to make broad claims about a place, develop more than a surface-level familiarity with the place first, then share your conclusions. The problem with your report is that you stated your initial observations as though they were facts based on a deep knowledge of the place, when in fact you have only a newbie's familiarity with Rio. That's what is so off-putting about your report.

Pussyboy,
I fully understand why you don't like Rio; it can be damn unnerving if you aren't aware of everything and everyone around you. However, that said, there are some of us who thrive in that kind of an atmosphere where danger lurks around each and every corner. Believe me; it's not that dangerous if you take reasonable precautions like not stumbling around drunk outside of Help at 3:00 AM.
Don't get me wrong, all of Rio isn't that dangerous, only the areas where tourist congregate. Unfortunately, most of the crime is perpetrated upon those who make themselves fat, juicy and inviting targets. Wear an expensive watch and carry a high tech digital camera around your neck puts one in this category. Add to this the fact that Brazil has practically no juvenile Justice System to handle and prosecute juvenile offenders and now you can see why there are so many young banditos roaming the streets of Copacabana looking for victims.
Should you ever decide to return to Rio, I'll make you this offer: A free favela tour with refreshment at my favorite favela bar (you buy your own beer), followed by a metro ride over to Vila Mimosa for some fun and inexpensive women. Current pricing is fixed at R$31 for twenty minutes. And, you don't even have to buy them any drinks. I hope this generous offer puts your mind at rest.

Iggy-- How are you doing? I'll take all the blame for anything that goes wrong in your life; if and only if, you continue to give me booze. BTW, many thanks for that bottle of fine Vodka. Got Lucy drunk on it one night and got lucky. Thanks.
Back12draft-- Welcome back my friend. Where have you been?

Jag, I'll take that offer. I might as well add that to my Rio resume finally.
the only thing I read I agreed with was that the exchange rate was down to 1.6 thanks to the genius administration...
the talk of safety certainly sounds like someone who has never been there...I wouldnt describe it as safe, but the only thing I have ever seen after 10+ trips is a fight between two Brasilians on the beach - and Ive gone into a favela on an unguided tour and walked from Ipanema to Copa at 2 in the morning - I imagine Ive been lucky to some extent but if it was THAT bad, I'd have a story to tell at this point - and by the way, there isnt a place that is safe around the clock
food is tops in my book...you can find food as good or maybe a little better, but for pigs like me, the buffet or pay by the kilo pushes it over the top
and its Brasil - they speak Portuguese...you sound as stupid as a Brasilian coming to the US and bitching that no one speaks Portuguese...if you insist on English, your better off staying in the US...regardless, I knew not a word my first trip, found PLENTY of people who spoke basic English and had zero communication issues
overnights should be a MAX of 300 reis, I'd say 250 the norm, 200 is available, and 150 happens
as far as filthy, comes with ENORMOUS cities, especially when most are very poor...does Times Square still smell like a giant urinal? i will say there is a stretch in the cab from the airport to Copa and a couple particular areas in Copa that smell like Godzilla's log...ive come to embrace the smell as it really hits home I am there again and ready for a fun week
Most of your accusations are baseless, but I won't bother responding to each of them. Rio mongers clearly don't have the class of their BKK counterparts.
I've lived in NYC for the last 25 years and know how to survive. I had no problems in Rio for that very reason and I don't think I will ever have any.
I am booking my return trip to Rio not because I loved the city but because I love that very special garota I met there. There is a good chance I will be spending many of my upcoming sex vacations between her legs.
PB

Been travelling with work but back home for a year or so now, thanks my friend. I was in Cuba for a bit, the talent is cheap but not of Brazilian quality.

Exchange rate? Finally us Canadians are getting a break, thanks to history’s worst President.
I almost had a heart attack the first time I heard the US$ was worth less than a Canadian$...last I had looked it was .5 to 1
I absolutely feel GW should continue his service to the country when he leaves office - my preference is ambassador to Iraq, maybe Iran
one more comment and I will have said my peace on the whole topic...the comment is made that no one speaks English and everyone is stupid - then you wouldnt KNOW who is stupid and who isnt...or is this an example of American arrogance that everyone should convert to English and Christianity, scrap the metric system, etc? based on the quotes from the other report, I chalk things up to chronic complaining / glass half empty
my bad experiences from 10+ trips? once making the mistake of clearing my US phone for calls down there, some bitch stealing it (the ONLY thing ever stolen), annd racking up $700 (yes, US) in fees before i cancelled...and I am officially tired of the scamming from the chair vendors in front of Orthon but the solution there is to not run a tab - get up and go pay cash each round
Hdogger
“I am officially tired of the scamming from the chair vendors in front of Orthon but the solution there is to not run a tab”
True, but it’s kind of the price for sitting on “their” turf. I find Ipanema a refreshing change at R4 a chair and R1 for bottled water.

I have no problem with negative reports. I think it balances things out. Most of us are so overwhelmed with the excitement of killer sex we forget about the bad parts.
The problem I have is reading the repost by Pussyboy from LAguy: "The first time we had sex, she asked for a condom, but I just shoved it into her bareback. Her 21 year old body was tight and beautiful, and there I was raping her bareback."
I have met some good friends on this board and have to say all have been great to meet and hang out with. Although we have not met, my guess is you would be a first. In fact, I hope we dont meet. For you to do something like that shows what kind of person you are.
I had to rewrite this last part because I dont want to get kicked off the board. I will just say you are a fucking idiot. AZ
Rio mongers clearly don't have the class of their BKK counterparts
I've met at least a half-dozen mongers who frequent Thailand moreso than Rio. The things they all have in common are -- they all claims they have sex without a condom with the girls and how cheap it is. They also refer to these girls as their "girlfriend", not friend, not favorite fuck. The idea of "commercialized" sex in the Rio termas is less gratifying than their "Thai girlfriend" who they either brag they fuck for free or next to nothing.
But then, they are able to bring up a bad photo of their "girlfriend" on their camera phone and I almost have to bite my lip holding back the laughter. I hear the same story with all the guys -- "she looks 10 times in person", "she doesnt photograph well".
Sorry guys, but an fugly girl is a fugly girl. I don't know about other BKK "classy" guys, but all the ones I met so far seem have a real weird sense of reality. From what I gather, if the girl is young and cheap then she is hottie. If she lets him fuck her without a condom (I guess a high percentate) then she is his girlfriend.
Now, the frequent Rio mongers on the otherhand. They call their girls "fuck-buddies". They have lots of fuck-buddies. They don't believe for a second the girl is their girlfriend. They have already witnessed these girls firsthand their amazing ability to suck cock while simulataneously hold a normal conversation on the phone.
Rio mongers (and even most Rio whores) don't eat food that is made on the street. That is not too "classy".
Rio mongers know there are equally attractive girls as Asian equivalents in a place called Villa Mimosa for the $20. But, instead they prefer coming to Rio to get the girls with pretty faces and body with womanly curves. It just seems like the "classier" thing to do.
It doesn't surprise me in the least that PUSSY-boy hails from NYC. Typical whining, critical, high-opinionated yet unbelievably unsubstantiated attitude about fucking everything.

Pussyboy, every time I start to think for a moment that we might have jumped on you too harshly, you go and step back in it.
I'm curious. Exactly how long did you stay in Rio to collect such great knowledge?
You may want to read the original post and the comments to it, Azguy, before you rush to conclusions. The comment about the bareback rape was a tongue-in-cheek comment involving a woman I knew well from previous meetings.
As for barebacking, I did it in BKK, and I did it in Rio as well. I would not enjoy my special garota any other way.
PB
back,
i dont mind the prices in front of Orthon - I just want some HONESTY in business. Dont assume because I had 4 beers I am drunk and you can charge me for 8...it happens virtually every time and it gets old negotiating the tab to something reasonable
that said, i wish to hell i could go grab one of those chairs tomorrow...its been 5 months, longest I have made it between trips in 4 years
Well my two cents worth. Just spoke to a couple guys who just got back from Rio and they are not free spenders. For a newbie, there is no mongering destination that is this expensive. One of my friends is thrifty but likes to fuck cute women and he was spending $500 a day, including hotel...sometimes more.
As for Cincoleche. Fair enough. Let me tell you this. Take a look on this site. Have you seen a hot Brazilian girl photographed in the last 3 years? I have seen 2. Lots of girls with big asses, flat chests, and horseheads. Many guys have a fantasy to fuck girls with big asses but the Brazil fans on this board will claim the girls are curvy and have hard bodies. Bullshit. Cottage cheese on the ass is not a hard body no matter how much you guys try to call the girls curvy.
Brazil has some of the most beautiful women in the world but it seems that the girls working the termas are past their prime. Why would I travel to a destination to spend $500 a day to fuck women in their late 20's who fuck 5 different guys a day in a short time room. No thanks. Colombian women 10 times hotter according to photos.
I dont hear many guys saying that your average Asian girl is prettier than your average latina. Thinner...yes. Sometimes the Asian girls can be gorgeous.
If some of you guys think the Brazilian working girls are so hot...prove it!
Blazers,
I have been on 11 trips in the last 12 months, Brasil 4 times. Do you think I go to fuck cellulite riddled horseheads? I think not. As a matter of fact, one of my favorite dates and a close friend, works in a terma, has an IQ of 130 and is a classical musician. She is one of the most beautiful women I have ever met. She is multi orgasmic, witty and a great sense of humor. I can discuss existentialism, alchemy and quantum physics with her and she is a step ahead of me on all counts. Try that in Asia.
By Azguy on Saturday, May 31, 2008 - 01:51 pm: Edit |
Blazers, I have been to Rio and Colombia (MDE & CTG), the last time in MDE for a month. My experience was that the hottest girls would not allow photos. I looked at the photos of the girls on this board before my first trip to Rio and had a certain expectation, but was blown away in person. True, the women in Colombia are much prettier, but cant even come close to performance and passion of a Brasilian woman.
I am in Peru right now and I would say the women here are about in the middle of Rio and Colombia regarding looks, but again cant even come close to the girls in Brasil in the sac (pro and non-pro).
I cant comment on the girls in Asia since I have not been there. I had a thai girlfriend for 3 years, but that would probably not be a good comparison (although she was a super freak) AZ
blazers,
as far as the quality of rio women, you could not be more wrong...Help gets knocked a lot here, but on any given weekend night, there are a minimum of 4 or 5 girls that could easily be playmates, lots of hot but not model types - the sheer number of girls there pretty much guarantees that...
however, not having been to Colombia but based on the US Colombian women I have seen and research on here and other sites, I have come to the conclusion Colombian women are hotter but, rumor has it, what you gain in looks you lose in performance
Rio absolutely is getting more expensive - and if you want one in the morning, one at lunch, and one at night, you'll probably be spending $500 a day - but if you are satisfied with an all nighter with a completely hot chick, and throw in an occassional mid afternoon, you can get by for less
By Itasca on Saturday, May 31, 2008 - 02:50 pm: Edit |
Blazers, you have to understand the difference in the Rio scene and other destinations when it comes to posting photos, especially of girl's faces. And the word has gotten around so thoroughly, that many of the girls won't let you photograph their faces. That seems to apply much more so the prettier the girl. So the fact that you aren't seeing anything posted on here that appeals to you... well trust me, they are there. I like small, thin women just like you, and I don't have a problem finding them there. You should just go and see for yourself once and for all.
(Message edited by itasca on May 31, 2008)
I strongly agree with some of the comments with regards to many high end girls not allowing photos. I tagged a couple beauties in a mini festa a while back and they were pissed when a camera was suggested, bitches!
Anyway, with the popularity of posting girls on the Internet many have reframed from allowing pictures especially nudes. Personally, I try for as many action shots as I can get but with the girl’s attitudes and recent laws changing the rules on posting nudity you’re not always going to get a true picture of all the talent available.
I've done 11 trips to Brasil and will also opine that the photos on this board do not do the Rio hotties justice. The multitude of Rio pics, IMO, portray the lower-tier garotas. They negatively skew the actual quality of talent.
The figure of spending $500 a day is accurate given the current exchange rate. But one thing that can't be accounted for on paper is the quality of the sex, which for me is now the only justification for return visits.

Maybe Pussyboy is in the process manipulating me into eventually re-posting in steps the entirety of his Thai trip report. So here goes the latest installment:
"The last night in Pattaya, something horrible happened. I noticed my cock turning red and swelling up with little spots on it. Shit! It is herpes or something, I thought. I am about to pay the price for all this bareback fun. I rushed to Burmungrad hospital in Bangkok the next day where I was diagnosed to suffer from too much fucking with too little lubrication. The doc gave me a ton of cream, which brought the swelling down in a day, but I did loose two nights of fun because of this. I was also told that in the humid climate of Thailand, you are supposed to use a hair dryer to dry your cock after each shower if you want to avoid problems. The visit and cremes cost me a little over 1000 THB. Burmungrad had many gorgeous nurses and administrators whom I would have liked to tie to an x-ray machine and sodomize all week. Alas, I was without any sexual feeling and terribly depressed for a couple of days.
"I couldn't find G after my recovery and ended up at Eden again, renting Maly for the last 2 nights of my trip. She was 22, very sweet and let me bareback her after I showed her the papers from Burmungrad to prove I needed to bareback for medical reasons. "
Let me state for the record that one of the advantages of Brasil over Thailand is in Brasil you don't need to dry your cock with a hairdryer after each shower. Also, the girls provide their own lubrication so you are not at risk of the swelled-cock with spots on it malady.
That Pussyboy did not point these clear advantages out in his present report is just another example of his anti-Brasil bias.

can someone refer me to a photo of a "horsehead" chick ? i'm fucking laughing my head off right now. i'd like to take a run at one of those but not sure how to identify the species.
I love the garotas and thai girls, but as expensive as Rio can get...I'd choose Rio over the LOS.
Pussyboy...since bareback is your thing and you found a garota you find is hot...more power to you. Continue to watch your back with the crime and since you don't enjoy Rio food...there's always McDonalds, KFC and Dominos.
For a while Blazers you've been a Rio hater...Just suck up the bucks and give it new try to see if you like it...If you don't atleast you tried and that opinion is way more respectable. Otherwise just continue to enjoy Southeast Asia
IMHO living Rio vicariously through others truly is not as fun.
Buick, I also was wondering what a "horsehead" garota was . So I called one of my favorite terma girls in rio and after a burst of giggles she told me that a "horsehead garota" is one who will deepthroat even the guys who are hung like a horse.
I guess it always pays to go to the source for specialized information.
I have also compared the various locations I have visited, including Columbia, Argentina, and Brazil. Columbia certainly has hot women, but performance wise they do not hold a candle to Brazilian women. Don't get me wrong, one of the better GDP's I have had was from Columbia - but it seems consistently sessions are better in Brazil. But...Indonesia and Thailand is right up there with Brazil. Costa Rica & Mexico - forget it, they do not even come anywhere close! Argentina, so so.... German FKK's are great, but travel there is expensive due to high Euro. Now I will disclose I am completely biased to Brazil - I live in Rio & married a Brazilian, but I did enjoy Asia but with the exception of Indonesia did not find Thailand all that cheap - especially BKK - compared to Brazil. The freakin' lady drinks start adding up fast, along with the bar fines.
Brazil is certainly expensive - especially with ever dropping dollar. It just amazing, just when I think it cannot get any lower, it does. Budget wise $500 USD a day certainly is realistic, if you are a very active monger.
I tend to operate on a medium budget, i.e. I eat good (but not in 5 star restaurants, however,) drink, and session once or twice depending on how much the girl's are quoting.
Medium economical: R$120-R$140 Avg Daily apartment rental, $R100 food & misc, $R200 - R$300 all night session from 'Help', plus R$60 for entrance to Help and some drinks, + R$30 transportation (This includes some public transportation, but you can cut this to under R$10 if you use only the bus and van's), so this averages to about R$510 - R$630 a day, or USD$310 - $380. You can make it cheaper, depending on the hotel or apartment rentals, cutting back further on food, alcohol, and taking public transportation to about $200 USD a day. You can also get cheaper pussy along the beach, including the Balcony Bar - Plenty to be had for R$150, if you know how to negotiate and do not expect a '10'. Bringing the figure down even lower.
Now, adding in day sessions with your night sessions - terma's tend to average about R$300 with entrance, some drinks, and one session - so that can add another $180 USD or so a day.
Also - the biggest leak in the budget can occur from drinks you buy for the girls. Don't buy random drinks, especialy Red Bull & Whiskey, for just any girl. If the girl you are with starts to drink too much there is an easy solution - just go back to your place to fuck!
Also - not need to be a cheap skate, but do not allow anyone take advantage of you! There is no need to impress these girls & all their friends - I have always found that they respect you more when you take charge & control. If the girl gets to demanding, you are better off finding another one anyway!
Brazil has a sense of adventure that is hard to match in other places. Couple this with - for the most part - great sessions, it is #1 my book. Unfortunately, however, the dropping dollar will continue to work against us.
Brazil is a place that can be enjoyed more and be much more economical once you visit a few times, especially if you are a little adventurous.
PB/BP
I truly enjoyed your insightful observations and conclusions. You are truly a boy of knowledge!
Once you get your name reversed to the right sequence, I am sure you will be even more visionary and lucid.

This "report" has gotten far more attention than it deserves, but I reiterate, I'm still not convinced he ever went. There is nothing specific in it about his experience, and he manages to touch on every cliche and well-known scam that has been talked about over and over again on here.
Having said that, there are some classic lines in it, whether intended or not.
Did you know you could get VERY lucky in Help?
Or, "Perhaps the most genuine trick is the throwing of bird excrement". Funny, but I never would describe that activity as "genuine".
Or, "If a girl does not kiss or follow well.." What exactly is follow well? Oh yeah, he's a self-confessed rapist and sodomist.
Or, "On the way out, the girls may try to force you to buy a flower for $7. You don't have to buy anything". Really ..... Thanks dude. I'm going to write that one down.
Pussyboy, I applaud you for writing this though. It's these kind of threads that liven this site up.
According to PB:
"The comment about the bareback rape was a tongue-in-cheek comment involving a woman I knew well from previous meetings. "
Now, here again is what PB said in his report:
"The first time we had sex, she asked for a condom, but I just shoved it into her bareback. Her 21 year old body was tight and beautiful, and there I was raping her bareback."
PB seems not to understand what the phrase "tongue-in-cheek" means. If you'd just said "I raped her" it could be taken as a tongue-in-cheek comment. But you stated that this was the first time you had sex with her, suggesting she's not a woman you knew from previous meetings (making you a liar), or indicating that you were lying about not knowing her before (making you a liar). And you said she asked you to use a condom and you just shoved it in her bareback. Either that is completely false, or your are a complete pig.
But the most amusing part of this whole episode is that PB seems to have made the biggest newbie mistake of all: he now plans to come back to Rio and spend all his time with a single "special" puta.
The irony is delicious!
I wonder? Could her name be Christiane?

I've always enjoyed reading the Rio verse BKK mongers battle it out. Maybe someday one of our monger elders will call for a truce to be signed at a neutral location such as Angeles City.
I love Rio and love Brazilian blondes but the last couple of years have not been kind on the good ole US dollar and have had to retreat to cheaper shores. Make no mistake though, BKK has some beautiful women and you have not even seen gorgeous until you've tried the Japanese gals in Hong Kong. They actually fetch a premium.
