Getting There
Air Baltic Flight
I flew from St. Petersburg to Riga on Air Baltic. I booked my flight through their Internet site.
http://www.airbaltic.com
The one way ticket cost me:
Air fare: 50,00 LVL
Taxes: 8,30 LVL
Transaction fee: 2,50 LVL
Total: 60,80 LVL
The luggage allowance is 20 kg in economy. My luggage was 1 kg overweight. No problem!
Airport Transfer
A blonde was waiting for me at the airport with an Art Factory sign. We picked up Valentina, who arranged my apartment reservation. The apartment owner was waiting for us when we arrived. The airport transfer set me back 20 EUR.
Accommodation
Art Factory
I checked out various apartment sites. I loved the design of this place:

When I enquired about the availability of the apartment, they replied promptly. I paid a 50 EUR deposit by bank transfer to secure the reservation. The apartment was 60 EUR/night.
The place looked exactly like the Internet pictures. It only had a sofa bed, but was really photogenic. The large mirror before the built-in wardrobe offered great photo opportunities. Alas, the only reflection I saw was my own.
The apartment offered fast cable Internet. It even had a printer... and a CD to install the printer drivers. Everything about this apartment was carefully thought out. However much I hated Riga, I loved my apartment.
SIM Card
I bought a local SIM card in the nearest phone shop (3 LVL). There were no formalities whatsoever.
ATM Machines
Riga is littered with ATM machines. Since I wasn’t getting laid, my initial withdrawal was sufficient for the entire stay.
