Jetlag was kicking my ass as usual. It's one thing to fly to Thailand and its another thing to fly there after flying back to the USA from the Philippines just 10 days earlier. I used this day to purchase a phone as I had given my phone to my Manila girl the week before and it was time to get a new one anyways. I went to MBK mall and noticed that the food court is now on multiple floors and they shifted around where the cell phone kiosks were. One thing I never understood is why Asia is so enamored with crappy overpriced Nokia phones. They wanted $400 for phones that nobody would pay $100 for in the States. What is even more amazing is that the Iphone has not found a way to muscle into the market in Thailand. Apple's Ipod and other touch screen phones blow away the crap they are trying to sell you in Thailand. Even a 2 year old style Motorola RZR is being sold for $150. I just decided that I would buy a cheap phone for this trip and buy a good triband online when I got home. Its always good to have a cheap triband for trips in case your phone gets stolen or takes a shit.

One thing you really notice about Bangkok now is how modern it has become. I remember when I first started going to Bangkok in 2001 and still thought the place was a 3rd world country. Now when you see their public transportation infrastructure, their modern malls, their modern airport, etc...you really start to believe that the USA is the real third world country these days, especially when you return into LAX. One of the tragedies to this modernization is that you can see that a lot of the street food carts are being muscled out by restaurants who hate the competition and are starting to be designated to certain areas. Nowhere in the world is there street food like in Thailand and it would be sad if they eventually phased it out and made it more like Singapore and sterile(although Singapore food is outstanding).

I eventually decided it was time to go to Little Arabia off of Soi 3 in a couple of the alleys. Hookah's are becoming popular in the USA and I really love smoking hookahs. When you use ice in the base of the hookah, it takes away all the heat from the smoke and its like a flavored vapor. Most of the restaurants in the area had hookahs available for 200 baht but its all done outside and it is hot as hell in BKK in May. Finally found a aircon Egyptian restaurant that was attached to a hotel off of Soi 3 on Soi 3/1. The restaurant is called Nasser Elmassry Restaurant and Shisha. They have one of the more extensive Arabic restaurants I have seen. Their menu has photos for every dish as a lot of the dishes are exotic. The Egyptian tea is a great start. I ordered a kebab combination which included marinated sheep balls and mint infused pork. The restaurant uses Halal preparation in case any of you are worried about the cleanliness of the place. The waitress' here are all very hot but have the Arabic scarves over their head. One girl is of mixed Thai heritage and is real hot. I kept having disturbing thoughts while I was staring at her and kept thinking about bending her over and lifting up her dress and fucking her in front of the multitude of Arab men in the restaurant. Boy would that have pissed them off. Altough I probably could pass for a Persian myself so they might just cheer me on. Anyways, the place has great Arabic deserts as well and highly recommended.

Eventually made it back to the hotel and got ready to venture out into Soi Cowboy. I went early at around 7pm and the place has a lot of bars open that early and most have happy hours with cheap prices on beer. I was at Midnight Bar drinking 40 baht Change bottles and was really smitten with a hot blonde dancer who had a great attitude. Chang beer is strong as hell so I was buzzed real quick and getting the jetlag zombie feeling. Decided to barfine the girl early at 9pm and told her it would be ST as I had to sleep and go to Ayutthaya the next morning. She said she would rather stay LT and that suprised me but she was cool with it.

When she came out of the dressing room in her civilian clothes she looked stunning. Maybe the hottest girl I had barfined in all my years in Thailand.
