CHAPTER ONE

These days I’m blessed, that I get to spend months of my year without work, and having the time and money to make long term mongering trips. After eight weeks of depressing work and cold in the USA, I took off on my thirty day Pattaya trip on May 3rd.

Every trip has some element of a plan to it and I’ve found that mostly the trip and plan end up being quite different. This trip was no exception. I also need to say that I’ve made many trips to Pattaya in the past, so my thoughts and plans had experience behind them.

On this particular trip there was a cast of mongers involved as well as a cast of Thai girls. The cast of mongers made the trip much better and deserve much mention here. For any mongers that are left out of my story, my apology as I’m sure that you deserve mention, but my memory sucks.

Also, since my memory sucks and stories can get boring I may skip days and just try to give some of the better adventures and flavor of the trip as well as what I hope are some of my better pictures.

If this were the oscars I’d give honorable mention, not in any particular order to Happy Monger, Blazers, Sockboy50 and his friend Gary, Carlo 840, Baddog, Hippie, Big Poppa and a host of others.

This trip as most of my trips start had a marathon of a thirty six hour work day and twenty four hour travel day that got me from working in Chicago to my hotel room at Pattaya Bay Resort. I’m not going to bore you all with details of this part as you’ve heard it before.

After my two in the morning check in and a nap, I had early breakfast, rented my motorbike, always an ordeal of bargaining, bought some cell phone time and made my way to Lólita's for the opening BBBJ from Nuong. I need here to lay out what my plans were for this trip. I’d spent from Thanksgiving to New Years in Pattaya and AC and most of February in AC, having to miss Pattaya to help out with problems for my dad. So, I wanted to lay back a little on this all Pattaya trip. Also I’d gotten many emails from my Pattaya girlfriend of the past couple trips that she had May off from work and wanted to spend it with me. Being the “Smart Monger” that I thought I was I told the girlfriend that I wasn’t arriving in town till the middle of May instead of the 4th when I was really arriving. This way I’d have some days for outright mongering.

So you told your Pattaya girlfriend that you where arriving 2 weeks after you did, strange that some as well traveled as you has never heard of the Pattaya grape vine. It was Pattaya Bay Resort. They charge 999 baht per night in off season with a pay for six and the seventh is free special and free breakfast for two, or 13,900 for a month with you paying the electric and water about 1,500 baht per month between May and October.
