Costa Rica.

I just returned on Feb 25, and there isnt much to add to all the other posts here as they are accurate.

I was in Costa Rica 3 years ago, and at that time the streets of San Jose were very dangerous. But it seems that the new Public Safety Minister came up with novel idea of getting the policia out of the comisarias and putting them on the streets. So the good news is that you can walk around San Jose at virtually any time as there are cops on foot, on bicycles and police cars parked all over.

I stayed at El Presidente. Breakfest is included with the room, and you can sit in the open air restaurant watching the most beautiful wimmin Ive ever seen on their way to the office, etc. in the morning as they walk down Avenida Central.

The Del Rey is still a snake pit where the wimmin outnumber the men most of the time. I had 2 years of college spanish and by the end of the week I was almost fluent. Its interesting to watch the chicas interact with the gringos and trying to communicarse as generally they only know about three words of each others language.

Del Rey is full of hookers from Columbia (usually the most beautiful, blonde, blue eyes), that come there with their friends for a few weeks to earn some money as there isnt too many americans traveling to Columbia these days. Others are locals, or from Panama or Rupublica Dominicana. The Dominicans are the most agressive and there isnt too much they wouldnt do. They are all willing to take on six guys at once, pose for pics at the same time if you wanted.

I talked to one from Columbia one night for almost an hour and she was amazed that "me entiendes perfectamente", that I understood her perfectly. She want $100 (as they all do), but settled for $50. She was an absolute knockout, the type you would die for here in the US.

All the chicas generally know each other and have agreed among themselves that $100 is the price. You will not be able to get them into a bidding war among themselves, and you will be generally hands off as long as their friend is trying to make a deal. They will go down to $50 if you keep the deal quiet so their friends dont know you are undercutting the general agreed price.

Stay away from the expensive strip clubs (like Cheetahs, or Elite) unless you want to buy $20 glassed of champayne for the chicas, and want to blow a couple of hundred.

It was good to see a report up. Tell us more—there must be more to tell. Did you go by any of the places in la zona rojo? or any of the tico bars like Bar Camelot or any place we haven't heard of?

Nice report, zorrofox. I also would be interested in hearing about any experiences you may have had in other places.

I've often recommended the Blue Marlin as the best place for newbies to start discovering the pleasures of Costa Rican women, and I still think it's good advice but, by all means, if you get the opportunity to do so, broaden your horizons and check out some of the other places too.

I, for one, never pick-up girls from the Blue Marlin anymore because I won't pay $60 to $80 for a girl I haven't been with before and I hate to bargain. It ruins the entire experience for me.

I generally have a better time with girls I meet in other bars and clubs where I know the girls will be more than happy to receive 10 or 15,000 colones (often much less), and will give me their very best efforts. I'm not a cheapskate and don't want to be treated like one, but I'm not a tourist either. The places where I go, I'm considered to be generous and the girls look forward to spending time with me.

For example, I posted a short report yesterday under San Jose Bars about a new girl I met at the Park Hotel. We spent about an hour and a half together and never discussed money at all. When she left, I gave her 10,000 colones ($31) and she was very happy. Although the girls at the Park generally ask for 10,000, they usually only get 6,000 or 7,000. I had a great time and certainly didn't mind "overpaying" $10 in return for not having to negotiate the price. She's coming to my house to spend the night on Thursday and, although money hasn't been discussed, I'll give her 20,000 colones, although I could probably bargain for a rate of 15,000.

Yeah, we all know what's happening. We are trading money for sex, but I try to create a situation for the girls where they actually enjoy being with me as much as I enjoy being with them. I've generally been successful with this and have been rewarded with many wonderful GFE experiences.

Well the purpose wasnt really to go mongering. I was there primarily to check out living there for a few months a year, and check out some of the imersion spanish programs.

Im eligible for an early retirement , so I attended various real estate seminars, etc. to get a flavor of lessoned learned if I decided to apply for a pensionado visa (which I decided against), or renting a condo. I ran into a guy who was doing the same thing as I, and we decided to lease a condo year round as a group of six people, and we would each get it for 2 months, which would suit me fine.

My only other activities was to go to the native cultural dance at the Park Hotel. This hotel is on Avenida 4, just west of that downtown park where they have that weird structure that looks like the restarant at LAX airport. The hotel is owned by a gringo, and may rate minus 2 stars in your AAA travel guide. They close the doors, cover the windows, collect 5000 colonies, and 10 ladies (the best I may give a 3 to a 4 rating) that engage in a psuedo-lez show. The audience is encouraged to participate and if you sit in the front row at the bar, you will not a have choice. One volunteer jumped up on the bar, took off his pants, and two chicas gave him the best BJ Ive ever seen. This isnt quite like watching the hula dancers in Hawaii.

The club IDEM was recommended by more than one person, and we even started off to there one night but got sidetracked.

I would also go into the local Tico bars downtown, and drink the local Imperial beer for 250 colonies instead of the 700 colonies they charge at the Del Rey.

The people are quite friendly, seems to like gringos, and were impressed that I could talk to them in spanish. The Ticos like to party, drink, and generally have a good time, but they dont earn all that much money. So I would buy them a couple of rounds of drinks and made all kinds of friends.

Hopefully Ill return later on this year, and check out the Izcauzu area for a condo.
