Rates at 4x4 are as follows: cabine (40 minutes), R180; simple suite (1 hour), R200; super suite (1 hour), R250; King suite (90 minutes), R340; Sultan's suite (90 minutes), R390. There is an entrance fee, but I forgot to write down what it was. It is waived if you take a girl before 5:00 PM. For my first girl I took the King Suite. The only advantage is that you have 90 minutes. Otherwise its only redeeming features are a Jacuzzi and a shower, both of which you have in the super suite.

After I finished I went down to the whiskeria to get something to eat. This is much quieter than the boite, but there are also far fewer girls. Here you wear street clothes, no robes.

Today I went for a bit of afternoon delight in Solarium. I got there about 5.30pm and the place was quite full, twenty girls and roughly the same number of customers. Depends on one's budget, right? It's my mongering destination of choice, so for some it must be a "real mongering destination."

And that $500/day figure is a bit high, and hardly a "minimum." Last trip I paid R$220/hr at 4X4 (definitely a 1st Division termas) and R$150 for an all-nighter with an ex-4X4 girl. That's $225 US. Add $70 for the apartment (nice 2 bed/2 bath) and about $40/day for food and drink (2 beers a day is all I drink), and I'm at $335/day. Toss in $15 for transportation and gelato and you get to $350. You can pay more. But you can pay less by doing an escort instead of having an overnight guest without scrimping on quality or looks.

The piece you miss by not having experienced a termas is that you don't go to one just to walk in, grab a girl and bang her, and then leave. It's usually a multi-hour party, and the girls will hang with you both before and often after you do the deed. The money buys you an evening of entertainment in addition to a world class piece of ass, something that is just unheard of in the types of venues you mention above. With all due respect, until you've been in some of the termas in Rio you're on unsupportable ground in terms of comparing them to brothels anywhere else in the world. Termas are not "third world brothels." There's nothing like them anywhere else. And until you've seen the women in the termas, your comments on their attractiveness are based on very weak data, indirect evidence from posted photos rather than from experience.

The weak dollar/strong real combination has priced some guys out of the Rio scene, and that's unfortunate, but you'll notice that there are plenty of us who come back regularly, regardless of cost. There's a reason.

Higher prices, poor pics on CH, higher crime...there are many reasons not to make the first leap of faith.

Where did this R$350 figure to get laid in a terma come from? (Only Centarus) If you are going to compare cost of girls in various places of the world, don’t include $60 plus worth of beer and liquor in one locale. Even with the recent price increase at 4x4, you can still session for $R180 before 5PM. And I know that isn't a bargain... trust me, I know because i used to get the same thing in there for $60 a few years back... but it also isn't what some of you are throwing out.

Also, there are much cheaper places to go to get laid with girls that look just as good. This “terma experience” is overrated. I still like to go in some of them from time to time, and I will session in 4x4 every so often, but I am more of a local now when it comes to paying for pussy. Look, if you want the terma experience, go Brasilian. Pay the entrance fee, have a beer, grab some ass, then leave (who cares what they call you, I have a few pet names for them too) and walk down the street and go in an apt casa and bang a girl for $50 - $60 that looks just as good as the ones you just left. If don't believe me, stand outside on the corner of Rio Branco and Buenos Aires about 11 PM and watch the girls come out in street clothes. Once they take off their Wonder Woman outfits, most of them look VERY normal.

I understand that money is relative to each of us. Some of these costs are just tip money for some of you, and I get that. But I’m not one of these millionaires that we all run into down there that throw money around like it's monopoly money. If you have it, good for you, but I don’t, and I’m betting most of this site is just like me, so just know that there are cheaper ways to enjoy Rio just as much as opposed to spending all of your money in these termas that get all of the press on this site.

I agree that there are better deals to be had, for sure. However, on short trips (which I must stick to) it just makes more sense to hang in the T's mostly. I'm always into the occasional casa runs but I have found them hit and miss. Too many misses and my short trip starts to evaporate. Also, with a 1-2 girl per day game plan, the $500 might seem OK. One or two per day just does not nearly work for me. I do not consider myself to be an amateur.

Actually, Centaurus is R$420! I think those figures were for 60 minutes. Lots of guys go the 40 minute route because, well, they can't hold up any longer with a brasileira. Then there are a few that seek at the real-a-minute places because 10 minutes is adequate.

I will love the termas for the entire experience. I was also fortunate to move a nice pile down to Brazil in October 2006 as a 2.12 exchange rate. So therefore, I am not exposed to the dollar fluctuations anymore.

That said, the Brazilian boards have a lot of high quality places and they rave about the girls. It is not the same as a terma though. Pretty much wham bang. None of the cool seductive vibe of a terma.

Having been to both, I can vouch for the fact that they often have a few very hot girls who will fuck you senseless. At Flavia's it's R$110/hr (sadly, they increased their fee from 90/hr. just in the past month!) and you can have an hour long dupla for R$150. And Hellen is a complete monster fuck (GCL can vouch for her as well).

Happy and sad to report that little has changed.

There is still a large selection of woman of varying sizes and colors. A couple of stunning girls can be found for everyone’s taste I think. The girls here are alot more aggressive than at the other 3 large termas in Zona Sul; but this also leads to a lot more foreplay in the boite, which of course is half the fun (okay maybe less than half). It also makes it harder to ditch the girls you don't want to be with.

I also like the fact that the music that isn't pounding into your head at high volumes (my largest complaint about L'Uomo). Even live music can be heard every night around 10:00 PM.

The down side for me is the attitude of the staff. It is still the only terma I've been to where the front desk has the nerve to ask for a tip. For what? Taking my money? Plus a lot of the girls do seem to have that "I'm the best because I work at Centaurus" attitude. They also really try to up sell you. Two girls? One hour in the suite?

Pricing remains the same as before. R$120 for entrance R$280 for 40 minutes in a regular room. I can't remember the pricing for the hour, but it is more than 1 1/2 times the 40 minute rate, so it makes absolutely no sense. Pulse the regular rooms are larger than the suites in L'uomo and more than adequately sized.

I sessioned twice. Once with a blonde whose name I can't remember (though I asked her three times). She has a dragon tattoo on right thigh and three others. Anyone recall who this is? I thought she had a beautiful face and she was good at the foreplay in the boite. But once in the room, the attitude really changed. Spending $100/day is my current max...this is an average of course with some days being $150 or so. But of all the places I have been to (including AC) I could have easily spent double or triple that.

So $500/day is not all that bad and arguably similar/equivalent enjoyment can be found (as Dongringo suggests) for significantly less cash depending on negotiating skills, time available, connections, language skills...

I am priced out of Brazil currently...not only due to dollar to real strenght and prices as above but frankly because I do not want to be limited. If I could be confident enough that despite my meager budget I could score enough hot stuff regularly (sacrificing quality of room, drinking level, etc) I would be there in a heartbeat.

For the time being Colombia (yes Colombia still not pricey especially with spanish on board), SEA, Indo and soon Africa will fill the need until income increases (hopefully not much longer on that).

In a more simpler time husbands just had girlfriends and the wives either stayed in the dark or knew but didn't make a fuss. Pretty much the same system as most of the rest of the world is today.

Don't blame divorce laws. Blame the need for so many guys to get a divorce due to shitty wives or the need of said shitty wives to file for divorce the first chance they get. It's easy to split a bank account these days. Try splitting a dirt farm a hundred years ago. No money, no need to get a divorce since there's no payday. Today, plenty of money, lots of liquid assets - it's a payday for many wives.

I dont want to get into a debate about changes in dissolution law but in California the major change has been the changes in requirements for spousal support(years married, disparity of income, length of time to pay support) and the use of the dissomaster program as a determinitive factor for the amount of support paid to a woman, regardless of whether minor children are involved or not.

Also, the requirements for a move out order and TRO are minimal. This can put a guy on his ass outside of his own house before he knows what hit him, while he is still paying for the mortgage. The burden of proof is so minimal for a TRO that bullshit filings happen daily. The stalking and harrassment statutes that have been added have put men at a major disadvantage when it comes to fraudulent domestic violence claims..which are common.

I calculated the cost of my California divorce, divided by the approximate number of times I recon I banged my ex-wife while we where married.
