Streetwalkers ply their trade between the Desalegn Hotel and the corner with Cameroon St. The girls start showing up around 8 PM and seemed to work in 2 shifts. The early shift girls prefer ST encounters and go home when the night shift arrives around 11 PM. The late night girls are available for both ST and LT.
All the streetwalkers spoke at least some English. Most spoke English pretty well. The girls target foreigners staying at nearby hotels, but many of their customers are locals driving by and picking them up.
The quality isn’t that high, but there are usually a few cuties. The service varies widely. Expect to pay around 150 ETB ST and 300 ETB LT.
Atlas Hotel
The area opposite the Atlas Hotel, on the corner of Mike Leyland St & Cameroon St, was generally deserted on weekdays. Over the weekend, there were quite a few girls to choose from.

Christmas Light Bars

Past the corner with Cameroon St, heading towards Bole Rd, you’ll discover a multitude of little bars decorated with Christmas lights. The available girls often stand outside the bar to draw the punters in. If there are no girls on display, you can always poke your head inside the door...
Most bars are hole-in-the-wall places with just a handful of girls. The quality is a notch up from the streetwalkers. Unfortunately, many of the girls don’t speak a word of English. But they all speak the international language of love...
With the right girl, these tiny bars can be good fun. Buy your favorite girl a drink, and she may dance in your lap, stick her tongue down your throat or shove her tits in your face. Pick the wrong girl and she’ll sit demurely by your side...
The bars often try to overcharge faranji. Always ask the price beforehand. Beers should cost around 10 ETB. Some girls will order a simple beer. Others will hit you for an expensive Red Bull. If the girl wants to order a double shot of Martini, tell her a single will do!
Padded bills are also a nuisance. Pay as you go would be good advice. In the Mike Leyland St bars, I always paid 400 ETB LT. One of the mamasans told me the girl had to pay the bar 50 ETB commission. Locals or other Africans may be asked to pay in advance. Apparently, they often fuck the girls without paying them.
Other Areas
Reports suggest that Christmas light bars can be found all over town. Walking around, I only spotted a couple of bars on DR Congo St. I never checked out the Piazzi backpacker area, which is also supposed to be littered with little bars.

The Memo Club has a large outside terrace with a restaurant. The disco is dominated by a circular hardwood dance floor. Tons of girls were out on a busy Friday night. Many of them were cute, but I couldn’t spot any real stunners. In terms of quality, I rate the Mike Leyland St bars higher.
The punters were a mix of expats, locals, other Africans and... Chinese.
I was aware Chinese entrepreneurs were venturing into Africa. I knew Chinese companies imported laborers to work on huge infrastructure projects. But I didn’t figure the often racist Chinese would be into African girls. I’d read about many disappointing experiences with disco freelancers. Betty turned out to be pure evil.

Ethiopia is supposed to have some of the prettiest girls in Africa. Their facial features are often European, rather than African. Pointy little noses (my favorite) are common. The monkey look is blissfully absent.
Most Ethiopian girls have caramel-colored skin. Oromo girls tend to have a darker complexion. Girls with truly black skin are rare.
Most Ethiopian girls have typically African frizzy hair, and tend to spend a fortune to conceal their African roots. Hair extensions are common, especially among the business girls. But the most popular hair style is Gigi, named after the Ethiopian music star:

Walking towards the Hilton Hotel, a procession of limousines drove past. A girl was waving from the open top. When the cars stopped, and I saw the babes getting out, my jaw dropped. 6 feet tall. Evening dresses hugging their amazing figures. Exquisite faces. Wow! But judging from the TV cameras following them around, these girls may have well been... actual supermodels.

Observations
The service in Addis Ababa ran the full spectrum, from clueless starfish to girls who totally rocked my world. Overall, the performance was... average.
Almost all Ethiopian business girls are Orthodox Christians and sucking dick goes against their religion. Guys who value a good BJ are advised to stay away!

The government campaigns seem to have the desired effect. All the Ethiopian girls insisted on using a condom. In a city with an HIV infection rate close to 15%, bareback punting is ill-advised.
Long Time
Every night in Addis Ababa, I arranged for a girl to spend the night. Almost every morning, I had a rude awakening. Even though we went to sleep late, the girls invariably woke up early. Why? I have no idea. But I hate wake-up calls when on holiday.

Final Words
With European facial features and caramel skin, Ethiopian girls are supposed to be among the most beautiful in Africa. I won’t argue with that. My research indicated that Ethiopian girls weren’t the most passionate lovers and wouldn’t give blowjobs. Based on my experiences, I have to agree with that as well.
Addis Ababa is essentially a safe city, which is rare for an African capital. As such, it was an appropriate introduction to the Dark Continent. I’m not roaring to go back, but I wouldn’t try and dissuade anyone from visiting the country either.
