SMRT to Geylang
From Changi airport, take the SMRT to Aljunied, changing trains at Tanah Merah. The ticket costs 2,50 SGD. Geylang is less than 1 km from the Aljunied SMRT station.
If you arrive at the Budget Terminal (Tiger Airways, Cebu Pacific), a free shuttle bus will take you to Terminal 2, where you can board the SMRT.
Accommodation
Happy Hotel
A superior room at the newly renovated Happy Hotel on Lorong 10 cost me 70 SGD. Checking in early was not an issue.
The room was small, but neat & clean. It featured A/C, a hot water shower with liquid soap dispenser and a small TV, but no fridge. It was adequate enough for 1 night.
Darlene Hotel
I picked the Darlene Hotel because of its location, with plenty of China Dolls right outside. Even though it offered the same amenities, the room was of a lower standard than the Happy Hotel, which was reflected in the price – 50 SGD.
The rooms are in need of renovation. The liquid soap dispenser was empty...
Early Check-in
Both the Fragrance hotels (Fragrance Crystal on Lorong 18) and 81 hotels (81 Princess on Lorong 12) charge extra for an early check-in. Avoid these hotel chains if you arrive in the morning.
