Everything in this report must be taken with a grain of salt because this is only my impression from being in San Jose for two days.

GETTING THERE: Was able to find a flight with Continental for $347 from LAX to SJO. The trip went through Houston with a three hour layover which was a pain in the ass. Immigration and customs are very efficient and geared towards tourism. Pulled 50,000 Colones out of the ATM wich is right next to the baggage claim area and the exchange booths were ripping people off. SJO in general has one of the most inaccurate exchange rates for any combination of currencies at any airport in the WORLD. Taxi's are outrageous in price but the airport is about 30 minutes outside the city. Nearly all of them charge $22. There is a $6 shuttle bus that you can take if you make reservations at least 3 days ahead of time. http://www.searchcostarica.com./

HOTEL: Decided to use the Dunn Inn and it ended up costing $75 including the outrageous CR taxes and after the 10% from the VIP membership at www.costaricaticas.com. The web site accepts recervations or you can do it by phone toll free. The rooms are quaint and overpriced but all hotels are garbage and overpriced in SJO because the amateur mongers make it so. http://www.hoteldunninn.com/guestrooms.php

FOOD: I ate at the restaurant at my hotel which was great and there is actually decent food at the Del Rey as well. Ate twice at the Sportsman's Lodge and felt the food and atmosphere was quite good.

GIRLS:

1. NEW FANTASY: Located right around the corner from my hotel. Opens at 9am but most girls get there at 1pm. Went there twice on two different days. There is a reception area to your right and a small fishbowl to the left(very similar to the small brothels in Batam). Costs are 15,000 colones 30 minutes or 22,000 for an hour. I chose the shorter time as I only wanted a BBBJ as these girls normally dont allow BBFS and dont want to cuddle and chat afterwards. The rooms are similar to TJ massage parlor rooms. The talent level of the girls is low grade IMHO. Think Las Chavelas in TJ. My girl had big tits and a cute face(Adriana) but once her clothes were off, everything dropped south and stretch marks were evident. Decided for a BBBJ and she wanted 10,000 colones extra and I told her I would pay 5,000 extra. She said no, I started getting ready and told her I was getting my money back. She relented and gave a nice BBBJ but not CIM.

2. IDEM: Another massage parlor outside of the central area but doesnt open until 3pm. The quality here even worse than New Fantasy so I passed.

3. SPORTSMAN'S LODGE: Great atmosphere, great food, tons of fellow mongers, cute freelancers. Lots of local girls and Colombian girls here. If I had more time would have grabbed a girl from here. All of these cunts ask for prices in US dollars(fucking lazy American tourists). The good thing is that it is slower than normal so almost all were going for $60 for ST back at my room but didnt find one to pull the trigger on.

4. ZONA BLUE/HOTEL LITTLE HAVANA: Place right near my hotel. Is a hotel with a decent humidor. Have to walk to the right of the front desk and walk down the hall to see a bar to the right. Lots of freelancers connected to the hotel and a real nice bar. Quite possibly the worst talent I have ever seen in any venue anywhere in the world. I would have to drink 2 bottles of tequila to even consider fucking one of them. They should rename the bar "Stretch Marks and Deflated Tits".

5. HOTEL DEL REY: Pretty large casino/bar/restaurant with girls from all over latin america. Lots of really stunning older Colombian girls. When I say older, I am thinking that these are hot girls but are 23-26 and can quite cut it in CTG or MDE. The Nicas, DR girls and Ticas are heavily outnumbered but its tough to tell which from which as all three have shades of different colors. The Ticas and DR girls seemed to be friendlier. Basically you get all the girls demanding $100 but most will relent to at least $70. On a busy Sat night, Colombian girls will not accept less I assume as there are plenty of dumb bastards from the US who will mistakenly pay double that price. Interviewed 7 girls and all relented when I asked for a BBBJ and DFK. Probably might have changed once in the room though. Many dont want to seem sucio in front of their friends.

6. KEY LARGO: Right across the street from Del Rey and a fun atmosphere bar with live music. Most of the DR girls bounce back and forth between here and the DR.


I ended up noticing a cute black girl who ended up being a Tica. Very sweet and friendly in the bar and agreed to $80 after whining a bit. After asking whether BBBJ and DFK were on the table in a playful manner, she stated "Claro que si" and nodded her head in approval. Brought her back to my place and had her undress. I love it when girls have jet black skin and a nice figure. Many of the black girls were occupied by the "Snoop Doggy Dogg" types that now dominates the CR scene and those guys prefer the big ass types so this girl was unoccupied.

Decided to fall asleep as I was exhausted from no sleep for 24 hours as I couldnt sleep on the plane.

OVERALL THOUGHTS: I am sure I would truly enjoy this place once I was here for a week or so and figured out which girls would give great service. The problem is that the girls are so used to low expectations from pussy mongers that they get away with everything and get tipped for it. The mongers are in two groups and split 70/30....elderly men from the midwest and south and black guys who look like they just stepped out of a TI video. Saw one guy with a quasi gerrie curl giving a girl $100 in chips at a time to gamble with him. Shit like that. Americans fucked CR up by using US dollars and allowing the girls to control the show. If Cuban girls started working at the DR, the Colombian girls would be out of work overnight. If you want hot Colombian girls with great service, go to the source.

Well, it's a little difficult disagreeing with a Club Hombre legend, but I think you're being too hard on the whores of Costa Rica. Lookers in Zona Blue can get kind of sparse sometimes, but I've usually gotten exceptional service there. I ran across a bonafide "9" there once. I've never been in IDEM when there weren't at least two women that looked very fuckable.

I'd also disagree about the looks of the Colombians in the Del Rey (DR) versus Cartagena and Medellin, although you're spot on about the level of service. The best looking Colombians in the DR stack up pretty well versus the hottest hookers in Cartagena -- I might rate LDV just a touch higher. And while I haven't spent that much time in Medellin, I didn't run across anyplace there that had as many hotties in one room as the Blue Marlin from, say, 10:00 PM to midnight.

I agree with you about the service though, they seem spoiled or something. I've performed the same exercise as you, asking a series of women in the Del Rey if they had any problem kissing, and it was astounding -- maybe 5 in a row would say no in the bar. Back in the room I only remember a couple that wouldn't though.

Everything considered, if you just want to go somewhere and bang a lot of women on a short time basis and then do something out of doors -- like the volcanoes or the beach -- San Jose is not a bad option -- better than Colombia IMHO when you take into account travel time and safety when traveling outside the cities.

The flight prices make CR look tempting, but I am noticing the reviews of the place by well traveled mongers are getting worse and worse. Bang for the buck seems atrocious.

Costa Rica girls suffer from the TME disease. They speak TOO MUCH ENGLISH which tells you right off the bat how hardened of a pro the girl really is. The girls at the Medellin Mansion only charge $60 for like 2-3 hours of GFE, and thats considered expensive in Colombia. In CR you'll be lucky to find a similar quality girl for double that price for half the amount of time and almost no GFE.

Costa Rica is a great spot for ecotourism, not so great for sex tourism.

This is one of the reasons why the Medellin Mansion often rotates girls.

Out of respect for a retired buddy of mine, I make it down at least once a year to visit him, but the place is pretty fucking tedious for me. The tickets are cheap (under $250) and it easy from South Florida, but it frankly sucks once you've been to other places.

Blazers, amazed to find you'd go to CR. I gave up on it two or three years ago. Every trip I made saw a deterioration of quality and safety and that was from 2003 to 2005. It isn't to say that you might not get lucky and find a good experience or that a regular veteran living there can't develope contacts with some good girls, but the bulk of girls especially at the Del Rey are spoiled and San Jose reminds me of TJ.

Gurock....TJ servie is much better than SJO IMHO but my time in SJO was very limited. Tropical Bar in TJ has off the charts service similar to girls in Asia. Let me know when you are back in San Diego and I will show you the gold nuggets of TJ.

The draw for CR is the cheap air fares [generally] and relative short distance, hence less time to get there allowing for a nice weekender and cheap expenses.

Costa Rica may be that cheap and easy if you live in South Florida, but not if you're from California or Chicago. Tickets more typically run five to six hundred and the trip is more like eight hours from Chicago. For Eleven Hundred I can go to SEA in twenty two hours and being Platinum I get 40k airmiles for the SEA trip and I get 15K airmiles for the CR trip. The price of hotels, food, liquor and most importantly women is much cheaper in SEA. In Angeles City I can barfine a gogo girl for TLN for $28.00 US in Costa Rica a short time at the Del Rey is $65.00 to $100.00 US. I shouldn't be saying any of this because the more that people are encouraged to go to SEA the more the price will go up. Worst of all the Dog Pound boys might decide to go to SEA and make trouble.

If you don't like Asian women, Columbia, Brazil or Peru offer much more for your dollar than CR. I understand Blazer's view he saw a cheap ticket and wanted to check it out. I've gone there many times in the years of 03 to 05 and once I discovered better destinations that was the end of me and CR.

I live in costa rica, and have done so for the past few years, I have some comments.

I do agree that at the delray, it is quite hard to get a good experience from a girl, especially if you do not speak spanish. So many of the girls there are hardened. In sympathy to them, many of them have been robbed and/or beaten by ugly american tourists or even locals.

DFK is rare in the delray, and it is very important to talk to a girl before going with her, and see if you click. Just grabbing and going to the hotel room almost ensures failure.

The girls in key largo are generally a little uglier than the delray, but are more likely to offer a better experience. It is the rare colombian who you will spot in key largo.

Costa Ricans in general have horrible diets, and so nearly all the low and mid end massage places are full of what i would consider fatties. Ones man's fatty though is another man's cushion for the pushing, I am particular about this as I don't like fatties.

In terms of IDEM, when you go in there, i highly recommend talking to Roberto, he is the manager, and he will almost certainly be sitting near the end of the bar alone. He speaks near fluent english. He will be able to tell you how many girls are working, and offer a recomendation on a girl, don't be shy in asking him. He has changed the business to be more foreigner oriented, and does understand the concept of service (eg: don't lie to the client). Many times girls are in the back, or are eating upstairs.


A much better play for a GFE experience will come (in my opinion) from going to one of the lower end night clubs / strip bars. Unlike lower end massage parlors, you will almost always find at least a few hot girls in these.

AVOID the high end strip clubs as they are highly overpriced, and do not guarantee better service. The girls tend to rotate around the clubs as business ebbs and flows in each one, so do look around.
Clubs to Avoid (unless you're fine worrying about being over charged on already expensive prices): Elites, Atlantis, Tengo India (closed for renos), Hollywood, Lipstick.

Clubs to Try: Texas, Alcazar, Pantera Rosa (go with a friend as it's a very tico club), Pelufos (if you are in costa rica, you have to go here at least once, $2 lap dances, wild shows on stage - whippings, food, insertions, etc. Tends to get very crowded and service is not the best, nor are facilities, but surprisingly hot girls. Don't go on a costa rican payday. (1st and 15th of month).

I have been to brazil, and SEA, and would say that these locations offer much much better average service levels than costa rica, but costa rica does have it's charms.

Mailforme, good job of spelling out how to maximize the SJO experience and telling it like it is in the gulch. I've had many, many GFE during my years of mongering in CR. Anyone contemplating a trip would be well served taking your post to heart.

One comment about Pantera Rosa; I heard from a reliable source its the hangout for M13 gang members and is quite dangerous. Would appreciate any input/updates from those in the know.

MS13 are hard to find in CR, if here at all. The Colombians (the real law in CR) have a "you and everyone with you" order on them.

Gangs in CR are not of the sort you see in other places. Being from LA and living here, this is a strange phenom to me. There's never encroachment on territory, etc...

Ticos are generally a non-confrontational people. While you may see some undesirable types in some places, as long as your not stupid, you'll be fine.

In terms of Pantera Rosa and gangs, if you are there with a friend or two, I would not worry about your safety. There are literally 10 security guards there on the busy nights, and incidents are very rare.

Most of the gangs don't seem to go to clubs and the like, instead they'll have house parties with hired help. Or if they do frequent them, they keep a low key attitude.

The Pink Panther is probably the very first place I would hit after landing in San Jose. I was there a year and a half ago and had no safety issues and a very good time I might add. I went solo. The Pirate Club is a can't miss too.

Actually the price of pussy in CR is generally pretty reasonable. Other stuff, like a 12-pack of beer or a jug of purified water are way out of line. I can't see how the Ticos can afford to pay for some essential items.

I'm looking to go back for a one-week bombing run, but only if I can find an airfare of $400 USD or less. I don't want to pay a cab $25 bucks to take me into town either. So flying in during the day and taking a bus into town is an option. Or, if arriving at night, spend a night in Alajuela near the airport as it has some table dance joints and brothel bars and bus into San Jose the next day...

MM, sorry to say I can't find the info I dug up in preparation for my trip. But I know for a fact there is action in Alajuela. First of all, it's pretty damn big. Second, it's near the airport. Third, I asked some chicks from Alajuela in San Jose and they confirmed at least three table dance joints.

It would only be a matter of asking the cabbie. The five dollar cab ride vs the twenty five dollar cab ride is the clincher...

I have seen a few p4p in the Fiesta Casino, just a minute or two from the airport..They are not as aggressive as in the DR but you can spot them. They have a great bar in the casino with live bands and lots of young, HOT, Ticas and Ticos looking to hook up. I grabbed a non pro out of there a few years ago. Of course, Tico paydays and the weekends are the best time to go.
