I had a week off so instead of being logical and going to Florida where it is warm, I took off to Buffalo ahead of a nasty snowstorm that was pounding the south and heading up the east coast.

So after a small delay and a long de-icing process in Philadelphia, where it was already beginning to sleet, we arrived in Buffalo. It was a rough 55 minute flight and I may have dropped my spleen over Elmira.

I procured my econo-shitbox Dollar car and headed for the border. It was already after 11PM and my eyes were tired. Luckily on a Sunday night there wasn't much on the road.

I had decided to stay in the suburbs and use mass transit to go downtown. The hotel was decent, actually pretty nice for $99C a night . it was about 1:00am when I checked in and I was really hungry. The desk clerk wasn't much help but offered me an apple . I later found a 24 hour Metro supermarket next exit up.

It was very very cold Monday , so I slept in .
Later I went in search of Steeles Royal massage.

The drive from Toronto to NF was easy and fast. I pushed the econ shitbox passing a truck and surmised the top speed is indeed about 78MPH.
Did I mention that the car has steering wheel audio controls and every time you make a left turn, your hand hit a button and changes the radio station.

I drove by the falls and decided to stop and take in the grandeur. I had been here as a child, aboot 40 years ago.... but never in the winter. It is quite spectacular. I paid $9 to park the car and asked the kindly gent what they charge in the summer, he told me $20. There was a beautiful rainbow over the falls also. When I was leaving, there is a small park and I stopped and admired the 150 or so Canadian Geese that were hanging out. Pretty cool, eh?

BD, being originally from Toronto, I have to chuckle a bit at your story. First, it will be one snowy day in hell (mind you, that can be Toronto), before beer is ever sold at a 7 - 11 store. It is completely run by the Ontario Government, you can only buy beer at "The Beer Store", which is owned by the major beer companies, or at the LLBO store (Liquor License Board of Ontario), which is also the ONLY store where you can legally buy liquor (at prices marked up to the moon). However, there will be a Timmys (named after a famous - now dead - Toronto Maple Leaf hockey player) at virtually every corner.

The Ontario Gov has virtually attempted to make smoking a federal offense, they aren't there yet, but are trying. And you were very clever not to drive into the city if you have been drinking at all, spot check police are everywhere to nail you for that. However, strangely enough, sex is relatively easy to get, but very expensive. The strip joints are quite fun, although $20 per dance, they will all do a very energetic lapdance for you. I was at a stripjoint called For Your Eyes Only, and while very expensive, the stripper was pretty open that she'd be available for further pleasure

The best thing I can say about mongering in Toronto is that you should be able to drive up to Montreal in about 5 hours if traffic is light.

At the same time, taxes on smokes more than quadruples the price.
