After a long 4 year absence, I finally returned to MDE. Previously, I stayed in the nice area of Poblado and did some minor exploration of the street scene, strip clubs, and casas in el centro as well as some regular party areas. I thought I had discovered a new area for SGs call margherita, but it turned out it be the famed Mayorista already written about on this board except inaccurately (said it was by mangos and was extremely dangerous…..it is not).

This recent trip, I decided to stay in the el centro area for further exploration....in fact, I never made it into poblado once. What I found was shocking and exciting. The p4p scene was colossal relative to my previously thoughts. Some real gems can be found and had for free or at a fraction of the cost of what’s typically reported here on CH, however safety is a major issue. In my quick report, I will make general comments on the following:

Low End Strip clubs (not fase II or San Diego)

La Mayorista is not extremely dangerous, but the area is not that safe, either, especially if you venture very far from the main street. If you stay in the 3-4 block long hooker area and don't do anything stupid, you may not have a problem.

If you know your way around and speak passable Spanish, MDE can be pretty friendly. But don't ever take safety for granted.

Good point. Actually, no area is completely safe. Motocycle bandits can strike anywhere, even at a late night atm in poblado.
