When I was starting out on a life of depravity and moral decline the Cape Ranch and the Johannesburg Ranch loomed large over the South African mongering scene. Ironically the two venues had very little in common except for the quality of the ladies available and their reputation for excellence. A reputation that resulted in the Cape Ranch being voted the best Brothel in the world by a British magazine, sadly the Johannesburg Ranch had a shoddier destiny, it was raided by the police and the first victim of South Africa’s asset forfeiture law. The story had a happy ending for the owner though after years of legal wrangling he won a hefty settlement in court and opened The Grand one of Johannesburg’s best and biggest if expensive establishments.

The Cape Ranch however plodded on but being a half an hour drive outside Cape Town and rather expensive I had not visited it for years, so long in fact that after finding the selection at three of my favourite stops in Cape Town to be below there usual high standards I had to phone for directions. The call was a little interesting in itself. You can not just turn up at the Ranch. You have to make an appointment and get a reference number. Then you arrive you have to give your name and number if you don’t have one don’t bother turning up, you will not be let in.

The ranch itself is impressive, a turn of the century Cape Dutch mansion bathed at night in an orange glow, its hard to miss. As you arrive at the gate you are asked over the intercom for your reference details, like a secret password. The gates open onto a driveway lined with Greco-roman statues that lead up to the main house and parking.

As it was my first time in a very long time I was greeted at the door by the owner although he was very friendly I couldn’t help but feel that I was being checked out before being allowed to enter. I must have passed the interview because after a few minutes he showed himself to be a very congenial host. The rules are simple you pay R850.00 ($85.00) at the door this buys you entrance, all you can drink at the bar, two lady drinks, lite snacks and an hour or so with the lady of your choice. If none of the ladies take your fancy within the first 15 minutes you are free to leave with a full refund. No cameras or cell phones allowed past reception.

The bar area has the feel of an old country inn and as I entered there where a scattering of regulars about. The owner sat with me and we traded jokes for about half an hour, he gave me an extension on the 15 minute rule as a few of the girls where not on the floor yet. Another of the house rules are the girls do not bother you unless you want to be bothered. As a girl enters the bar she might come over and say a polite hello before retiring to one of groups of ladies reclining on the couchers. See something you like simply tell the bar lady or owner and your choice will come on over.

On my first night I chose a sleek natural blond with glasses and a pony tail, not to dissolution some of my CH friends but she had more of the look of a teacher then a school girl about her. We enjoyed a chat for about half an hour, there is no physical contact in the bar area, but we covered all the points I like to clarify during the interview proses and we wiled away the time talking and joking until we headed up to the room. The rooms are as you would expect clean tidy and on suite, with a decent shower.

Unfortunately the shower in my bathroom had a curtain so I couldn’t watch my lady shower. I did what and CH Gentleman would do and joined her. We soaped each other up and down until we where both suitable clean and then retired to the bedroom where she started to give a surprising good massage. With the exception of the CBJ the session was among the best I have ever had. I was so impressed with her performance that I did a post play revue, something that I have not done in a wile and she had some suggestions that I look forward to trying out with her on a future visit. We headed down to the bar where she sat with me for a wile until a regular turned up and she discreetly took her leave.

I have to admit that at my meetings the next day I was preoccupied with thought of my plans for the evening.

I made the mistake of not booking my previous nights date and when I arrived at the Ranch she already had a date for the evening. I should point out that last dates are at 11pm so this is not a late night venue. There was still a pleasant selection to choose from so I chose one of the Thai ladies. She was new to the Ranch and it showed in her performance, both the good and the bad but all in all it was a fun few hours and I have to admit the lady had skills.

I was also impressed that when I headed back to the bar the owner wanted to know if I was satisfied with my selection, he seemed genuinely concerned. It didn’t seem that he was BSing me when he told me that most girls don’t make it at the club because any shit or bad service and they are gone.

My last night in Cape Town no matter how I tried to wangle myself out of them I had business commitments so I never made it to the Ranch much to my regret.

Does the Cape Ranch compare to what the best of Europe, Thailand and Rio have to offer? Is it still among the best in the world? I have to say no, but in saying that the Ranch is uniquely South African, almost colonial and in my case it didn’t disappoint. I would urge any monger visiting the Dark Continent to give it a turn. Hell, if I am in town I will gladly play guide. Just remember phonel first.
