I got my visa at a China Embassy in the USA months prior to entering into Zhuhai through Macau (note: there are ferries from HK and Shenzhen as well). In short, after you go though Chinese immigration, look for escalators going down into Gongbei Shopping Center (see pic 1). Once downstairs, head straight until you come to the epicenter of the mall where there are many different paths to choose from,…take the path to your right (see pic 2 & 3). At the end of this aisle, go up the escalator and out into the street. Enter the large outdoor walking street on your right as you cross the street…look for Lotus Rd.(see pic 4), which is the entrance to the famous LHL (Lianhua) road where many stores, bars, restaurants, massage parlors, and freelancers may be found.

Good directions, it wasn't all that bad walking across from Macau to Zhuhai. Crazier helped me alot with walking directions w/pics as the underground shopping center is literally a maze.

When you exit the underground mall as per the instructions of Soc here, you should see the Friendship Hotel on the Opposite site about 11 0 Clock. Lotus Road (Lian Hua Lu) is about at 1.30 and sometimes, you see a creative beggar with some limbs missing strewn on the road right at your feet awaiting!
China is awash with creative beggars who are absolutely "world class" when it comes to begging.
In Shenzhen I came across a woman on a road pavement right stuck in at the roadside rubbish bin seemingly dining from the bin (with her child strapped to her back).
On our way back from lunch two hours later, she was in the same position still dining from the bin with the same pitiful action of picking up grains from the bin! Truely world class creativity.

Any vets here can provide a link to a good street map with the hotspots marked? Sorta like the Angeles City bars map?

Great information as I plan my first trip Chinese trip beyond Hong Kong. Great timing as I am sending my passport out tomorrow for a Chinese Visa. If I am not mistaked single and multiple entries cost about the same so I am going for multiple entries visa as I know if I like this destination then I will make more trips this year.
