I have some spare time at work, so decided to finally post the well overdue trip report from my trip this year to Thailand and Indonesia.
I was able to get another Delta buddy pass which I certainly used to its maximum. Since I live in Brazil, getting to Asia is even more difficult and time consuming. My Delta buddy pass took me GIG->ATL->MIA->ATL->NRT->ATL->GIG. Unfortunately at the time I traveled the Delta buddy pass did not allow me to travel on Northwest Airlines all the way to Thailand, so my final stop for this ticket was Tokyo. From Tokyo I took a JAL flight.
Unlike last year, I decided to not kill myself flying until I made it to Bangkok and decided to stay in Narita, Japan, for a night on both the inbound and outbound portion of my flight. In Narita I found a decent priced hotel easily accessibly from the airport, the Comfort Inn. Well, rooms can be best described as an internal cruise ship cabin. But the nightly rate was only around $50 and included breakfast and free internet. The rooms were clean, but certainly not for a long term stays.
Took a train ride into tokyo and walked around. The biggest complaint being that it was very cold and it certainly it is not a cheap city to entertain myself.
Also checked out the temples in Narita, again nothing yet interesting to report - just a day being a tourist. The good times were ahead.....
