Up & moving by 05:30. Finsihed packing by 6:10 and 2 minutes later, a co-worker of Andrei shows up. Easy drive back to the airport.
Check-in a little fucked-up. You must go thru Security first.
By overweight bags were let on and Customs was a non-issue.
In the v. nice lounge by 7:25.
The flight to Riga, left exactly on time and arrived on time. It was an F-50 turbo-prop.
Met a programmer from Belarus, a really nice guy, and we chatted the entire time.
On arrival, 23 C., and sunny.
Scored some 8 y.o. Bacardi as I tried to figure out how to get to gate # D1.
They have another fucked system - whereby if you are flying to an EU country it is one set of gates, a non-EU, another.
They needed to send, get this " a special mini-bus" to take me to the other end of the terminal bldg.
Anyways, flight #2 to Moldova, also left on time and took exactly 3 hours to get there.
Radu's brother Roman was waiting and it was an easy drive into the city. Also sunny & warm here.
Paid the balance (the appt. was 85 Euros per) and went off to find an ATM or "Kantor".
It seems my place was right in the middle of the "embassy district". Nice, lots of mature trees, lots of security around.
Getting "moolah" was no sweat, and just beneath the apartment building was a huge supermarket. Picked up water, jus, limes and mix.
Had a few cocktails after the 2nd stroll of the afternoon.

They really like blue in that hotel room. Not sure I would use that choice to paint my home, but an interesting change for a hotel room.

Why do they paint the trees white? Is it for aesthetics or does it protect the trees?

The white paint is put on trees like this in some parts of the world to protect the tree from certain tree destroying insects that may be native to the area.

They have put white paint on trees in the mid-west since I can remember, for the reason stated: insect and disease protection. Think of it as a tree condom
