The first day of my last trip was a disaster with possibilities of being worse. Steal a phrase from Mann44, eventually they would find my headless, lifeless body. Might be exaggerating but surely felt I was being led down a road I would not enjoy. Little concerned but seems a pattern may be forming. My buddy had to cancel his trip. Real disappointed, not only losing his companionship but also his fluent Spanish. Would have been an incredible asset. As a friend the circumstances behind his cancellation was not a good situation.

Booked my flight thru Travelocity. Seems they need to update their database. American Airlines would only print their boarding passes. Not even forward my luggage to Lan Chile. Once in Miami I would need to reclaim my luggage, check in, get my boarding pass at Lan Chile's counter. Actually did nothing. American printed my boarding pass at National/Regan, and did forwarded my luggage. My August Trip United forwarded my luggage but did need to get my boarding pass from their counter. Be certain to check with your agent, this is something you need to take into consideration. If your inbound and outbound flights are too close might be difficult to make connections. Most American airline companies are on one side of the airport, foreign the other. Lan Chile's counter and boarding area is at terminal A. There's a lot of carpeting between them and American airline companies. Not to mention from the arrival terminal to baggage claim. There was a later flight leaving Dulles, one I preferred, about an hours layover. Concerned I might not have enough time to catch the flight.

I headed off, flew out of Regan National in DC this time. Compared to Dulles and Miami they seemed to have the new security down to a science. A WHOLE lot better than Miami. Flew American and the new 100% baggage x-ray was less than a 5 minute wait. Lan Chile/Lan Peru. Have to give them high marks. First class operation. It seems they run the same flight out of Miami 365 days a year. Leave Miami 11:59 PM arrive Lima 5:30 AM One other flight at 6:00 AM. Never found any other flight. Incoming flight was nearly an hour late and how I hate waiting around airports. Much to my surprise we also arrived in Lima and hour late. They use the Boeing airbus. Standing 6'3" tall I really appreciate the extra legroom for the long trip. Neither flight was sold out so I was able to stretch out and catch some badly needed sleep.

Arrived at the airport it was the same thing all over again. Taxi's asking $20 for trip. Settled for $15 last trip, tried $10 this time around, girl didn't hesitate walked away. Moved to the next station offered and settled for $15. Was a little easier this time. I did do some checking, there were buses that ran into the city. Charge was $8.00 American, might have to wait till they were ready to leave, numerous stops but if on a budget might be some help.

Los Palmas, remembered me and greeted me with a nice warm welcome. Second visit and the service as before. Willing to help in anyway they can, very friendly and terrific place to stay. Prices were middle road; maybe lower side but I highly recommend this place. Might want to ask for an interior room. Street noise could get a little loud and bothersome. I like the street noise. Usually around 9 AM there was enough traffic to wake me, didn't have to worry about sleeping too late. Afternoons got a little quieter so I could get those power naps I live on. Took some pictures of the room. This room needed some new carpeting bad. Poor decision on someone's part, light gray in color and showed every little spot.

Later in the report you'll see photos of other areas in Miraflores. Hopefully you understand how modern the area really is. At times it hard to believe your in an under developed country.

Hooked up with Mann44 from this site. Contacted me a few days before I left. Time to reacquaint with the locals and see if my breakfast waitress was there and her reaction. Disappointing, either didn't remember me or no longer had interest. Was just business as usual. I thought it might be from having a friend along. I did go one other morning and the reaction was the same. She did remember me and was glad I returned. Nothing more, oh well...... Anyway chatted with Mann44 good guy, intelligent easy going and seems like he would be a great guy to pal around with.

Headed up to exchange some currency. Not sure why but the banks would not give me small bills. Most were 100 soles and at times it was hard to get change. As time went on it got to be a real pain. I did find a few guys on the street that gave me smaller bills but only 100 soles worth. Walked thru Pizza Alley to see if my gal was working. Day off but one of her co-workers I got to know well was. English was good got a nice warm welcome and chatted a bit.

August I met some young kids. Students studying English hoping to eventually work in the tourist industry. We hit it off real well and spent a great deal of time together. Daytime they showed me around Lima. Sights I had never nor may never have heard of. We kept in touch after I left and was looking forward to visiting them again. They wanted to practice their English. During our travels I helped them correct their grammar. Was a good time and worked well for all of us. Called them, let them know I was in town and would call later and set up a meeting.

Learned a little lesson. The girls I met in August were willing to provide their home phone number and even e-mail addresses. Because of my "no repeat performances" rule after the first couple of girls I didn't pay attention, took them just to be polite. Came back to haunt me. I decide to hook up with one of theses gals and get away for a couple of days. E-mails came back with 2 comments in common. Would be nice to see me again and asked if I could bring along a friend for her friend. Tried a couple of the numbers they sent, no answer, time for one of those power naps I love so much.

One by one my friends kept calling and interrupting my nap, finally gave up got unpacked. Meet them that evening in front of the hotel around 8PM. While waiting for them Mann44 came walking back. He decides to join us. Seems Peruvians are like other Central/South American countries. Punctuality is not a part of their life. One gal didn't make it, the guy was about 20 minutes late, and his sister was nearly 30 minutes late. Headed over to Pizza Alley for drinks and get caught up. Kept my eyes open while chatting and did see a couple of the regular gals walk by and a couple of new stares. Pizza Alley really is a first class place.

Another staff member showed up for work greeted him and we chatted a bit. My friends had a friend of theirs join us, she looked a little familiar but wasn't sure where I'd seen her. Nice getting caught up, great kids, friendly, outgoing and a lot of fun to be around. Finally called it quits and time to take part in the purpose of my visit, Tequila Rock bound. Sorry for the poor quality of the photos. I failed to reset the settings on my camera. Directly behind the yellow taxi and the girl walking is the entrance to Tequila Rock. The second photo it's between the two columns that look like brick. Easiest is to find the "Banco" sign seen in the first photo. Ernesto Diez Canseco is the street name. If you stand underneath the Coca Cola sign at Pizza Alley, look towards the park and walk straight across the park, down about a half a block. Evenings there will be a security guard standing out front and some taxi drivers hanging around. Most of these guys work on commission for the strip clubs, the higher class ones. Exit alone and you hear all about them.

Arrived about midnight. I think I forgot in my first report there was an admission fee. Friday and Saturday night it was 20 soles ($6.00 American) other nights it was 15 soles ($4.50 American) This includes your first drink. But only Vodka or Rum. Looked for two things, one of the gals I contacted for my little getaway and what I called "the one that got away" saw neither. 20 or so girls and much to my delight not a familiar face in the crowd. Disappointing nearly depressing part only a couple I would lay down my money for. Few more if they were free and the rest no thanks. As the night went along more rolled in but over all not what I had experienced in the previous visits. The same low pressure, occasional gal asking for a smoke. Eventually a couple of gals approached us and seemed like keepers, the 4 of us headed towards a booth. Seemed like a nice gal, chatted a bit, couple of drinks. Heard Mann44 talking to his gal and seemed like some negotiating going on. Couldn't hear everything but seemed like he was doing fine. My gal learned over and asked me a price. At the chance of making excuses for myself very tired, partially brain dead I spouted cincuenta when I wanted cuarenta. Seems he was holding to the $40.00 and my mouth spoiled it. I owed him an apology, sad part not the last one for the evening. So we settled for the $50 and headed for the room.

Walking to the room she kept telling me I was a bad boy. As soon as we entered the room she complained it was cold, I had to wipe a little sweat off my brow. Only air conditioning in the room so tried closing the window. I was half afraid to say anything the first time around but a few girls asked for the money up front. Wanted to just go with the flow last time, had no problems so did pay her. I learned later that those who did not expect money upfront were rare. Seems the locals are great for stiffing these gals, one of many problems the locals create. Many may leave if they don't get money upfront or know and feel completely comfortable with you. She went into the bathroom, complained it was taking too long to get hot water, then the bed was too hard, don't kiss me on the neck you might leave marks, at this point I'm ready ask for my money back and throw her out. I know that is what she wants, a refund surely won't happen. All this after I shared some of my Godiva chocolate with her. Decided to continue on. Wouldn't give oral at all. Obviously she's trying to tick me off and ask her to leave Yeah she going to leave early but not until I get some. Even during the act TOO HARD, crossed the line and decided to show her what TOO HARD was!!! Even complained about the photos she had agreed to before we left Tequila Rock. Once I snapped a few photos I headed towards the bathroom and asked her in a not so nice way to leave. She dressed and then sat on the couch like she was waiting for something, was tired of having her around and opened the door for her. Next morning I found out she called Mann44's room and spoke to her girlfriend. Apparently asked if she was ready to leave and possibly cut their session short. I really felt bad but hopefully that pattern of first day busts will be over!!!!! Maybe your luck will be better but think twice before you grab this gal. Funny I did see her on two other nights for some reason if we caught a glance she quickly turned away, like it broke my heart.

Sorry about your whimpering lady. The one thing that I can say about Lima this time of year is that the weather is usually pretty nice. While it is a little warm, it is sure much better then Rio, or most parts of Brazil.

You might have had better luck if you had just flown American, or Continental all the way.

I find Lan Chile much better from LA.

Nice report. Looking forward to hearing more.
