Just a short trip report to let you guys know how much fun I had on my trip to Hermosillo this week.

As I posted before, I have a new friend in Hermosillo that is planning on opening an MP. It is still in the building and planning stage. The location has not been found. This man is currently building his stable of girls and has been introducing me to quite a few lovely young ladies.

A trip overseas would cost me a lot more time and money. Apparently, a lot of the posters here on CH have unlimited amounts of both of those resources. That is not my situation.

The other thing I like about taking these little short trips south of the border is that I enjoy spending time with my friends. With every trip I learn more Spanish. With more knowledge of Spanish, I make more friends and learn more about the culture. It is not purely a sex vacation for me. Flying to another country for a week or so would not give me the same experience.

If you really are not drunk, I recommend not giving them a single peso. Tell them you would prefer to go downtown to the station and talk to El Jefe. I have done that more than once. It doesn't scare me in the least.

You blow into the BREATH-A-LYZER, or some such device, and they let you go after a big lecture in Spanish on drinking and driving.

I don't go to the TD bars much anymore but if I do, I just sip on 2-3 beers. That is not enough to cause me to be driving drunk. If I plan to get really drunk (which doesn't happen often) I do it at home or in my hotel room after I have settled in for the night. I am a pretty responsible driver so getting pulled over by these clowns really irritates me!

If you are not driving a vehicle with US plates on it you have less to worry about. My Arizona plates are like a big fat red flag for these idiots. They see nothing but dollar signs!

Whenever I drive the city streets late at night I drive with extreme caution as they don't need any excuse to pull me over. As another poster put it: I am "DWG" (Driving While Gringo).

In about 6 or 7 years of driving down there I haven't had any other negative "rip off" experiences to relate.

I have had some scary narrow misses on dark Mexican highways. Once, when my girlfriend was driving through the mountains between Cananea and Agua Prieta, we came around a mountain curve and almost rear ended a tractor trailer that was stopped dead in the road. There were no warning flares or flashers. My girlfriend swerved just in time and I lived to tell the tale!

Another time, I nearly rear ended an old beat up utility truck that was traveling down the highway at a slow rate of speed with no tail lights at all.

The AAA guide book to Mexico recommends avoiding driving at night. That is sage advice and I endorse it heartily.

I also recommend not driving at night in Mexico. Not anywhere - cities, countries, etc. In the countryside, there are cattle wandering about, as the roads are often not fenced off. In the cities, there are bizarre street situations. For example, in Tijuana, at an intersection near Parque Amistad (Friendship Park), there is a left turn where you must drive about 100 yards in the lane of oncoming traffic. That traffic is held up by a traffic light.

In the winery area the Valle de Quadalupe, north of Ensenada, the road suddenly, and without signage, converts from two lanes each direction, to one lane each direction, unseparated.

I encountered many other dangerous situations in a recent trip as far south as San Quintin. The streets often what I expect were in the U.S. in the 1920's.

Even the toll road has stupid problems:
at one point, there was a large sign with a flashing light, alerting drivers to move to the right lane. But, that was as we were streaming around a curve at 70 mph - the posted speed limit. There was not enough time and space to move over safely.

Most of the Narco-Traffico violence has been occuring in border cities, such as Nogales. I very seldom spend time in those locations. I visit my dentist there every couple of months or so and I drive through there monthly on my way to Hermosillo.

Hermosillo is about 4 hours drive south of Nogales. Yes, violence definitely occurs in Hermosillo. However, in my monthly visits over the past seven years, I have yet to witness any violence.

Certainly, any posters that are fearless enough to fuck and suck without a condom, should be fearless enuf to face the Narcoviolencia. Here, I am specifically addressing Blazers.
