The following report was recently put up on my blog - http://theteflonmonger.blogspot.com - and I thought I might share it with the CH community as well...
Just returned from five days/nights in good ole' Costa Rica - my 26th trip since November of '04. I had planned on blogging the trip on a daily basis, but once there, I simply couldn't find enough of interest to write about. Basically the same old scene as always - a slightly higher quality Del Rey crowd, slightly more girls in Sportsmens, the same depressing MP scene, etc. With a few more guys in town from CRT for various events over the weekend, the much anticipated "buyer's market" never really materialized. Girls were quoting $100 and not coming down too far off of it, although I had some success with making that the TLN rate on a few occasions.
But except for one girl I pulled out of Key Largo my last two nights who was down for anything and with whom I had a great time, the overall impression was the same - business-like attitudes without much of a desire to party or make the experience anything memorable. Not only that, but you'd swear sometimes that none of these girls have ever heard of anything resembling a gym - many soft bellies and big asses, with tight spinners a rare exception.
Costa Rica also remains one of the few "major" mongering locales where you'd better pre-negotiate that BBBJ in advance if it's a deal-breaker for you. Pick at random any nine out of ten independents from the Del Rey/Key Largo or Sportsmens, and they'll refuse it otherwise.
Overall, I sessioned only seven times over five days - easily an all-time low for me on a mongering trip. With the lone exception of a long anticipated 3-some with a just-returned former favorita and her little sister, just never really saw enough during the daytime hours to inspire me to pull the trigger. If some of these girls would go for $30-$50 instead of the typical $60-$80 rack rates, maybe it would be different.
But after Medellin and Sosua, I find that neither the quality of talent nor the typical service levels justify these kinds of prices. And personality-wise, most of these girls offer neither the elan of the Colombianas or the fun-loving zest of the Brazileras or Dominicanas (referring to them in their home countries of course - somehow even these girls seem to lose those qualities when working in Costa Rica).
All I have to say in closing is that if you're tastes aren't too demanding and spending comparatively more for lesser quality than you'd find just about anywhere else doesn't bother you, then have at it. As for me, I think I'll be going back even more infrequently than the two times I've been this year.
Sorry to come off like Debbie Downer, but with Costa Rica, I'm just afraid that's the way it is...

I agree. I flew to Cuba through CR and stayed a few nights recently... nothing worth reporting on.

How the eye views the familiar, and how the familiar becomes despised...GR, what is there to say? Our eyes have been opened... Costa Rica will always be like a second home to me, but god knows when I'll see it again, especially after this last jaunt to Angeles City. I haven't even made it to China or Pattaya yet, and I'm gonna look forward to $100 girls at the Rey? Good sum up of, unfortunately, a scene we've grown out of.

I was in Costa Rica a few weeks ago and I thought Hotel Del Rey was great! I had a great time flirting with the girls! There were a lot girls of every shape an size. I spent time with four cuties in my short time there. Yes, you do have to negotiate services up front.
