If you go out to the beach right by the entrance to Walking Street, there are a lot of street touts who show you placards and talk about the Rock Island.
My vacation here is not just about women, but actually going on a vacation and doing different things that I did not accomplish in other mongering destinations. So I was walking by the touts and one of them said 400 baht roundtrip to Rock Island and leaving right now.
All I had was a couple thousand baht, my camera, sunglasses and Yankees cap. I would have rather went when I was actually prepared with a daypack and a plan. However, I decided why not. Many of the businesses were closed to respect the King's birthday and there was not that much to do. So I hopped aboard the boat for 400 baht.
If you decide to go to Rock Island, remember, 400 baht is just the base price. Once you get to the island, it will be 50 baht to lay down on the beach, 5 baht to hit the toilet, 300 baht to rent a motorbike for an hour (500 baht all day rental). Cola, food, suntan lotion and other things will also be very generously priced.
You will want to take a daypack stuffed with whatever essentials you can think of. Prepare to wade through water and get a little wet in the boat. I had to take off my shoes and wade through the water to get aboard. I also had to do whatever I could to protect the camera. Some people got splashed as the boat driver took the boat full throttle through a rough surf. You may want to consider putting on one of those flotation coats in this boat.
On the rock island, I rented a motorbike for an hour and road around. At first, I thought the guy was going to drive me around the island on a tour on the back of the motorbike. Then he wheeled over a bike, handed me the keys and gave me some basic instruction.
I have never driven a motorcycle or anything like this. So it took some getting used to. Its easy after about 5-10 minutes of preparation.
Here are a few selected images of the Rock Island. If I go again, I will plan it out where I get there in the morning, rent a motorbike all day and really do a good tour. This was a spur of the moment type thing for me and I am glad I did it.
If you decide to eat at the Rock Island establishments then be prepared to pay up. I paid 35 baht for a can of Coke. I didnt buy anything else besides renting the motorbike.

LOL, I saw the white whale on the beach in a bikini in one picture. Reminds me of the good old USA.

These white whales are Russians. Some of the signs I saw on the island were in Russian and Thai, but not English.
There were, I guess, one or two attractive Russian women on this beach. However, anyone who was remotely attractive was also with a big Russian guy.

For the noobies following this post, "Rock Island" is actually Koh Lan (sometimes spelled Koh Larn).
