That night I went in to Help, just to scope out the place, I never take anything home. We're out on the veranda talking when this dark buxom girl walks by. Jaguar stops her and motions to us.

Only in Rio would a girl be complimented by such a forward statement. She laughed and thanked him.

Then he put his left hand up like he was gripping a handle and rotated his right hand around like he was filiming a movie. "I hear you did some porn". Only Jag can get away with that.

Luckily some of us agreed. Myself, Kjtrav, Jaguar, Boomhauer, Travelsrr, and Cubbie were going to the Salgueiro Samba Class.

Travelsrr turned to me, "Do you have a problem with guns?"

"Huh? Guns?"

"Yeah, you'll see guys carrying guns".

Now I'm neutral on guns, I don't particularly like them but I know how to use one and I'm a pretty good shot, much to the chagrin of my NRA buddies.

"What kind of guns?", I ask.

"Automatics. They're very obvious, they have their own army".

Whew! An army, I got no problem with that. I used to live in a police state. An army means some central control. I thought he was talking about criminals who would pull a gun on you. Granted, you never know what a guy with a gun is going to do.

"No problem", I answer truthfully.

We head down to Samba Class and I was surprised at the cost. R$20, that should keep out the riff raff. Half disappointed, I didn't see any guns.

The place was crowded and jamming. I loved all of it. I left the guys and pushed my way to the stage to get some pictures and videos. I was easily there for about two hours. I hoped the guys wouldn't leave without me, but I was mesmerised by the action.

Above, opposite the stage was La Batteria with most of the musicians/drummers. Sharing the conductor's box, if you want to call it that, was this luscious Garota with sandy blonde hair, enormous solid tits covered by a silver sequiened top, and her bunda forced into some denim shorts. She was the Brazillian answer to the Midwest Farmer's Daughter. I spent all night trying to get a good picture of her and failed. She was having a lot of fun and I was having fun watching her. The longer the night went on the deeper and more profound my fantasies of her became. Damn, you don't see a broad like her in a Terma.

It was great fun and after an hour of strateigic forward movement I was right in front of the stage. People would form circles and a couple would get in and dance. That was a great night. They were holding the tryouts for the queen of the batteria.

Salgueiro is probably one of the safest Samba Schools in Rio. It is not even located inside a favela, but rather in a Tijuca neighboorhood - not inside the Salgueiro favela. Quite safe.... I have never seen a gun, or especially automatic guns inside the school....or even outside. It is frequented by many tourists. While I have heard of a shooting a couple of years ago, it was an isolated incident. Many white Brazilian's - who generally are even more scared then tourists of violence - will go to this school including artists. Beija Flor is another famous school for artists, but generally too far outside the city for tourists.
