I have a few friends in AC, but that's not the issue. I had multiple partners in crime in AC this time, and barhopped with them. But in a place like Rio I'll spend 4 hours at the beach surfing. I'll spend hours combing through the bins at music stores around town. I'll spend some evenings at live music venues hearing some of the best musicians in the world. Not an option in Rio.

The friends issue does play a role. Many of my Rio friends are not involved in the P4P scene at all, so the conversations we have and the things we do are a bit more varied. In AC it seems there are two topics of conversation: the girls and the bars. You start feeling like you're having the same conversation repeatedly. Two of the three other guys I hung with on this trip also confessed to being bored out of their minds, so it's definitely not an idiosyncratic response. One friend said it all seemed like the movie "Groundhog Day."

Question: I like Rio and Angeles, but I'm not sure which one I want to do for my next trip. In light of the recent changes in Rio with Help closing, do you think that it's still worth it to go there considering that many of the Copa girls are hardcore now?

If Help was a really big part Rio for you, you might be happier elsewhere. But I would not say that Copa girls are more hardcore now than they were 2-3 years ago. At the same time, it's unlikely that any college sweeties will wander into Balcony looking to make some money (like they used to in Help).

Help was very peripheral to how I did Rio, so it's closing has only a minimal impact. I used to come by the Terraço after the termas closed just to watch the show, but didn't pull girls from there. I had (and have) my own private stock of numbers that I call if I want company in my apartment.

So, it depends on whether Help was central or peripheral to your Rio mongering.

If you think you are bored in AC and suffer through ground hog day experiences, imagine what it is like for many of the girls. I heard an estimate of 4,000 working girls in the bars in AC.
