Here in Wanchai for few days.
Im pretty scathing of Wanchai these days. Years ago it really seemed to have life and choice but now its tired old bars with monochromatic selection of Filipinos, Filipinos and Filipinos.
Now dont get me wrong.. Ive just spent three days in Manilla and had a ball at EDSA and P Burgos but the gils in the mamasan bars just dont seem to be the same standard as to what it used to be and the Mamasan's in these bars put Angelwitch Pattaya Mamasan to shame in terms of pestering you for drinks which are expensive.
Then you go to Joe Bananas where a good looking Thai girl from Khon Khaen wants HKD3000 for short time.. she would be Ok in a bar in Thialand and perhaps worth a ST B1500 investment but HKD 3K is crazy. Then she gets offended when you say.. your kidding right... OK i acknowledge thats probabaly not the most diplomatic statement but HKD3000 ST... and it wasnt just me.. I asked a guy she was talking to a little while later what she quoted him and it was the same.
Boracay or " Downstairs and Desperate" is much the same with average PI girls but at least not equipped with pesky mamasan.
The other bar which I cant remmber name of ( just around corner from Boracay) again downstairs used to have a good mix of Thai,PI and Viets.. now its mainly PI girls and quality is down.
Fenwick is closed.
My belief is that Wanchai has gone to the dogs for one simple reason... the bar owners and proprietors failed to change their business model.
HK used to be a real business hub but now this has been diluted over the years... the bars and clubs are still the same old tired setup with overpriced drinks, girls dancing on stage with the enthusiasm one exhibits while taking a Barium meal prior to X ray and Mamasan's who whilst doing their job have obvuisly been trained by the SS.
Quality is down, prices are up and quite frankly as Im off to BKK and pattaya next week Ill keep my dick in my pants and Baht in my wallet.

Now before anyone flames me.. let me just state Im a big fan of Filipinos.. as stated I had a ball in Manila last week and barfined some real cuties from EDSA but let me give you the contrast....
four hours in EDSA drinking and buying drinks.... 6000Peso
Barfine with a real cutey for long time 2000Peso
Try and emulate this in HK... priceless (and I mean that in the negative sense)

Also HK seems this trip to be hiting my list of all time hates

Am I geting old and grumpy or perhaps I just dont see the value paying top dollar for crap.

As Im not in HK that often 2-3 times per year its no big deal but if HK is you place of choice for whore mongering then perhaps Wanchai may not be worth the effort.

Yeah, my sentiments exactly. The best deals in HK are still the 141 girls, just a few subway stops away.

I know this is an old post, but this is not my experience at all in WC. I have been twice in the last few months and it was amazing both times.
