Fellas, I presently have a trip reserved for Rio from November 12-19, 2005. I'm seriously thinking about adding in a Costa Rica leg whereby I would go to CR for a few days prior to and 4 days after my trip to Rio. The problem is that I've checked flights and there seems to be a requirement to fly back into the US (Miami) and waste several hours on a layover, rather than flying directly from CR to Rio. Is this typical? Or, does someone have onformation about how and what airline I can fly directly from CR to Rio? I would appreciate any help you can offer. Thanks

Well, you could fly LACSA from San Jose to Sao Paolo, and then take a skybridge flight to Rio.

Copa will get you there and so will avianca. You may have to stop in caracas or bogota. I did this trip a while back, it is neither cheap or quick. But it is doable without returning to the states.
