A few of the sites are not working, which is not bad after almost 3 years. I hope to have the time soon to cull through the many travel newspapers to update this.

Just used www.airlineconsolidator.com and it is great. It's especially great for guys who need to fly out of San Diego, instead of LA.
Seems as though the major web sites are pretty shitty these days compared to consolidator agents who focus on transportation to certain regions. Best I could find is $1,012 for April 10-21 for anywhere in Asia as the taxes were brutal and the flights only from Los Angeles. The consoliditors gave me Korean Airlines to Manila for $850 including tax FROM San Diego or Asiana for $879 with Asiana. Called different consolidators and basically the flight from SD to LA is free.

www.bt-store.com has been good to me.
FAT-LAX-MNL - around a grand. For you LA guys not needing a concecting , its much cheaper.

Bt store can be good but they use the maximum taxes and fees so when its all said and done, they only have cheap prices for the slowest time of the year for flights. Consolidators who specialize in certain destinations ALWAYS cheaper now.
$1012 with FF miles is a better deal than $850 with no miles.
It's less expensive in the long run, assuming your going on multiple trips.

True but you can have both a $850 flight AND Miles. Asiana partners with United and I am close to a free flight to Asia after this trip.
In cases where its a FF program based on an Asian airline then the benefits are minimal. Best to Use United or Continental and fly with Eva/Korea/Thai/Asiana etc as a partner for FF miles.
I'm sitting here gritting my teeth over how high airfares are for my upcoming Thailand trip in July and I'm starting to regret not buying tix sooner.
So I thought it might be time to revisit the topic of ticket consolidators in 2010 and share my opinion. My opinion is that they are history. EVERY consolidator site I have visited, including the two mentioned in this thread, are much more expensive than simply typing your departure and destination codes and dates into Google and hitting enter. Your search result should show a graphic of an airplane and links to 7 different travel websites. You can ctrl click all of them and it will fill in your details and all of your choices can be seen side by side.
Kayak has been the most useful for me in ferreting out the least expensive fare and I no longer click on the Priceline link as their prices are very high. I suppose you're paying extra for William Shatner's advertising persona. Thinking about it, this is they guy who was perpetually getting his ass kicked and fleeing all over the universe on Star Trek, so what confidence can you have in him to wrest a good airfare out of somebody? Fuck Shatner.
Seriously though, I think Orbitz, Travelocity etc have transformed into the consolidators, and what's left of the consolidators are empty websites selling ads that refer you to the same websites or worse ones than Google will.
Of course I'm willing to be proven wrong, if it saves me money. My search on cFares demonstrated that I would have a net savings of $2.03 if I join their club and use their rebate, so I'm not exactly rushing in on that one.

www.travelocity.com allows you now to plug in an entire month on their flexible travel date query.
Great if you don't need to leave/return on a specific date.
Asiana has airfares from $875 USD for my FAT-MNL route.
Delta Sucks Cock by the way.
Try www.itasoftware.com I've been using them for years with much luck both domestic and international.
BigPoppa
This is what I tried typing into Google, but nothing came back:
mia 8/17/2010 cwb 8/27/2010 mia
Can you please give us an exact example of what you type when you search flights on Google?
Sure, try this.
RDU BKK 6/1 6/15 then hit enter. If your local airport or the destination is not a well known one you may have to type the name of it in.
For example
Anchorage BKK 6/1 6/15. If you have to spell it, be sure you spell it right as google doesn't always catch your typos and you'll end up with jibberish.
Sorry for the late reply I've been very busy lately. Good luck
You would be surprised on what cities you have to spell out. BKK works for Bangkok, but ANC won't wort for Anchorage. Some of the smallest airports work while the big ones don't.
