VERY low frills airport -- wouldn't recommend checking in any earlier than 70 or so minutes before your flight. There are a couple restaurants in the main waiting area before checking in through security, none worth a damn, IMO. There is ONE restaurant inside the airport in the gate area, downstairs where the Continental flights leave from. Food is pretty blah.
If exchanging money, be sure to do this at the airport in MTY and DO NOT wait until you get to the USA. The exchange rates at the HSBC bank branch are competitive, the rates at the American Express booth are HORRIBLE (but STILL better than airport booth exchanges in the US).
Wireless access is non-existent, unless you have a Telmex wirless account, but there are some {C's with internet available to use in the main waiting area before entering through security. I don't know the cost or speed available.
The transportation situation at the airport is an overpriced JOKE. The taxi mafia there is the strongest I have seen in the WORLD -- no freelance taxis are allowed to pick up passengers after dropping someone off, and the rate is a total FYITA rate to take you the 30 KM or so into Monterrey, last time I caught a taxi it cost 210 pesos. Keep this in mind, as there is really no alternative unless you're prepared to hike a mile or so to a city bus stop.
There are ATM's available in the main waiting area before you enter into security. The ATM rate usually better than exchanging cash, IMO.
When arriving on an international flight, you need your passport and will get a free tourist visa on arrival, which is valid for 21 days, (I think).

The MTY airport now has a van service to the main bus station, at least they do from the budget terminal (VivaAerobus). I think the cost is 70-80 pesos, and leaves every 15 minutes or so.
VivaAerobus now flies daily between MTY and Austin, Texas, and they've had a bunch of sales lately on their Mexico routes with RT fares for less than 100 USD.
