i have flown eva's evergreen service to bkk, and enjoy the upgrade that it gives in the roomier seats.every little bit helps for those long hauls.what i would like to know from the members is what other airlines give a comparable seat upgrade, like the evergreen deluxe for least amount of $$..

You can fly Thai non stop and they have the premium economy seats. I think those are the only two airlines that fly to BKK that have that seating option.
EVA no longer uses the 747's from TPE to BKK, it's all 777 now, and I think that the 747's had a better premium economy section than the 777.

i have not been on EVA before, i've only seen the seat maps and read about people's experience on EVA.
i'm not 100% positive but i think UA, EVA, and THAI are the only airlines with premium econ seating. SG used to have a premium econ but i think they changed that plane to 100% business (LAX-SIN).
UA's premium economy doesn't really seem like premium so i'd stick with EVA if THAI is not an option.

From NY you would have to go to Dulles to take UA so does not make sense at all as an option. Economy Plus is much better on UA than normal economy, although I get free upgrade with status.
Unless you live inland though, I cannot see why anyone would take UA.

If you really need the extra leg room, why don't you think about flying to London on Virgin Atlantic, and then taking EVA to BKK.

Here's an interesting site for you

I've not flown European airlines too much, but have flown many of the Asian carrers.
Recently, I've been very loyal to EVA Elite/Deluxe and really like the entertainment system and newer planes. Odds are high you'll sit next to dainty, ole Asian woman or if lucky, cute dainty co-ed (last trip :-), instead of some retired NFL lineman or something larger.
I was happy with Japan airlines, premium economy. Newer planes but their premium is a bit more expensive. Great service but they are in Bankruptcy now I believe.
Did not like United Economy plus b/c it's just extra legroom and same seat size width. Service bad and attendants not attractive which makes the time go by slow. Older planes.
If I had to go economy, I liked Cathay and Singapore but expensive relatively.
Friends have said good things bout Emirates.

I have no idea what it costs or even where you would buy a ticket but China Southern has a so-called premium economy class on it's 777 from LAX to Guangzhou that looks really nice. It is definitely a step up from EVA Deluxe. Only 5 across on a 777 and pretty substantial leg room.
I have flown that route in Business class which was pretty nice and in regular economy which was a nightmarish hell that torments my soul to this day. (NEVER fly across the Pacific in China Southern's "regular" economy) But their premium economy which I only saw from a distance looked pretty damn good by any standard if it is priced anywhere even close to regular economy.

Here's a link to China Southern's Premium Economy.

Again, I have no idea how you buy a ticket or what it costs but is called premium economy and is a substantial step up from EVA Deluxe. I'm thinking it must be pricey.
