The FBI's site has now listed him as deceased. As before though, and as it is now, it still doesn't say that he was wanted in connection with 911.
This is all he's ever been wanted for - if you take the word of the FBI:
"Usama Bin Laden is wanted in connection with the August 7, 1998, bombings of the United States Embassies in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, and Nairobi, Kenya. These attacks killed over 200 people. In addition, Bin Laden is a suspect in other terrorist attacks throughout the world."
http://www.fbi.gov/wanted/wanted_terrorists/usama-bin-laden
I find this strange since going into Afghanistan was justified by the desire to bring him to justice for 911.
On an unrelated note, until sometime in the last month, the Federal Reserve's .gov website FAQ clearly stated that a 6% dividend was paid to its shareholders.
The entire site has been revamped and, so far, I haven't found that paragraph.
Either of these oddities should give one pause.

I'm guessing he was put on the most-wanted list before 9/11 and what you are linking to reflects this.
Here is the FBI's most recent statement: http://www.fbi.gov/news/stories/2011/may/binladen_050211/binladen_050211.
I wouldn't spend too much time trying to develop (or follow) some sort of far-fetched conspiracy theory about all this.
And I would be remiss if I didn't offer my congrats to Obama, his national security team, and those on the ground who pulled this off. It shows competency does mean something.

Sure hope they picked up a lot of good intelligence from that compound. Like something that can be used to hang bush and cheney.

Obama is in trouble now. Eric Holder is going to have to prosecute him. His order resulted in an unarmed man being shot and killed and did they read him his Miranda rights before they shot him. Where was the search warrant and was it ever shown. And if Eric Holder doesn't convict Obama (in a court in New York) he has to worry about the UN going after him.
Oh.....by the way.....if Obama and Holder's policy of giving Miranda Rights on the battlefield and at Gitmo been in place since 9/11....do you really think the intelligence that was necessary to carry out this operation could have been obtained?

The question I have is why did it take so long? Apparently, Osama's whereabouts has been known for close to 5 years, and Obama has been in office for close to 3 years now. He could have killed Osama years ago but he did not. It seems that Obama has some explaining to do. It looks like he is hiding something because he should have killed Osama long ago.

From what I have read, they only identified the "Osama Villa" last August, but without any degree of certainty that Osama was actually there. In about February of this year they gained the certainty necessary to proceed, and then spent a couple of months developing their plan of attack, with Obama, with the support of only Leon Panetta from within his administration, choosing the option of sending in men on the ground to shoot the fucker.
It is noteworthy Obama did not recklessly rush things along for political purposes. One could imagine other politicians wanting to get this done before the November 2010 election, particularly if their party were facing massive electoral losses. Instead Obama followed the prudent and deliberate course, and the result speaks for itself.

I would think the whole Pakistan situation - I mean, most of us knew that Obama and the rest were in Pakistan - had a lot to do with it. The raid as is shines light on a painful fact: that Pakistan is playing both sides of the fence, and has been doing so since long before 9/11.

Everybody believed that OBL was in Pakistan, but they were a couple hundred mile wrong in where they thought he was hiding until this courier lead was discovered.
The news is also reporting that CIA setup an nearby observation post several months ago, but never got definitive proof that OBL lived there.
The crafty old terrorist did a pretty good job at hiding in plain sight, but he had to live in isolation and probably never left the compound since he got there. I am sure we will learn a lot more over the next few months.
The next big battle will be Hollywood studios fighting over the movie rights.

I just noticed Beachman's objection above to Eric Holder's policy on Miranda rights for Bin Laden.
Here is Holder's policy as enunciated to Congress in March of 2010:
"we will be reading Miranda rights to the corpse of Osama bin Laden."
I suppose the next thing Beachman will object to is the Obama Administration's "fish friendly" waterboarding of Bin Laden's corpse.
