It's been my experience the word fuck is understood in any language.

I agree in part, CFK. But given the many, many ways fuck is used, it is just as often misunderstood as understood.
With the word "fuck," the surrounding context radically changes its meaning.
That's fucking awesome vs You're a fucking idiot.
The same is true in Portuguese. It can be a compliment (Ela é foda!) or the precursor to a punch in the mouth (Foda-se, rapaz.)

Another type of "fuck" is "caralho"......again needs to be used in the right context, like you cutting your finger and saying "fuck", it would be "caralho"

It's incredible the creative uses of the word fuck. It serves as a noun, verb, adverb and adjective. Fuck is definitely the most versatile word in the whole fucking English language! I use it's flexibility and my language skills on a daily basis.
