How do you insure things like computers at your house?

By I_am_sancho on Sunday, December 30, 2012 - 07:08 pm:  Edit

Aren't computers pretty much a disposable commodity these days. It would really suck bigtime if my computer got stolen, but it's not like I'd lose any sleep over it or take a financial hit that would actually impact my life in any way. I mean, even if it's not stolen it will very quickly become so outdated it's not worth anything anyway so insurance seems kind of pointless.

Right i will check into travel insurance and maybe a low jack system. I dont own a house or insure my computers in a house i dont own? Also, computers in my opinion are not a disposable commodity and it would impact my life. No i dont buy old computers that are 2 years out of date on purchase. I like to buy next gen and pay the price, which would suck if stolen and not easly replaced. To many chicas rob me when i dont have any valubables on my person and if i had something of value, ie computer, well i guess you get the picture. fuck! You guys suck!

While were on the subject of computers does anyone know anything about this Tor.onion thing?

@Smith...have you heard about renters insurance? It's Like homeowners insurance for those that don't own a place. If someone decides to visit your apartment and relive you of all your worldly goods when your on vacation, it will help replace them, same thing if your place catches on fire, etc.

Check and see if State Farm has a policy to insure items that 3rd-world hookers steal from a dipshit monger while mongering in the 3rd-world.

Some credit cards offer free "purchase protection" insurance that includes theft coverage for a year or so. Might be worth it to check your credit card benefits to see if any of them have it and what the limits and terms are. I think that kind of coverage comes with "World Elite" Mastercards, and "Signature" Visas from various banks plus maybe some Amex cards too.

But if you aren't comfortable with the level of security you can achieve at a location, maybe best to bring cheapo hardware to that location. There are places I enjoy where I just would not bring expensive items.

Yes i agree with the cheapo items idea. I could replace my computer with say a cheaper tablet or laptop. I have been weighting the idea of insurance or buying a cheapo item. But what if i go away for a year or longer, i would like to have my good computer. Maybe find a safe place where i can keep it safe and when i go to the less safer areas bring the cheaper item. Lots to decide. I guess the big problem is im still not sure where i am going and what the safe is like. But the places i what to go there is much poverty and you can never trust the chica bitches. Good talk Sancho. Thanks for not criticizing me.
