A wave of crimes committed by Mexican police led a Mexican governor to call for the death penalty for corrupt officers Wednesday, the same day two more officers were chaged with kidnapping a businessman in their patrol car.
The problem of police criminality appeared to hit new depths on Wednesday when two Mexican policemen reported they had been assaulted and robbed of their guyn and siren by officers.
This is a common occurance in Mexico to see (corrupt Mexican police) rob other officers in patrol cars and then they kill them.
A favorite past time of Mexican police to take inocent people for (Rides) to extort money from them.

A pretty depressing report about how Mexican officials are robbing poor illegals as they attempt to reach the border. I had a friend at one time who was from El Salvador studying here in the US. He told me of the time he went back to his country for a visit and returned overland with his uncle. From the moment they reached the southern Mexican border to the northern edge of the country they were continually stopped by Mexican police and were repeatedly robbed and beaten.

98% of American business people pay bribes too. Only here we call it "campaign contributions". Ask Greyout Davis if you do not believe me.

Right on Powerslave. When Willy Brown controlled Sacramento he used to have fund raisers that were obligatory for whatever industry he was hitting up at the time. He would openly brag to the press about his power and what he would do to any company that did not pay up.

Kind of an early version of Jessie Jackson.

I read the online version of the El Salvador newspaper "La Prensa Grafica". There has been a large scale exodus since the quakes. An article the other day stated that the number of people that make up the pobrenza has increased by 250,000.

Additionally, the number of South Americans being caught migrating through Central America is also way up. With the exodus into Mexico, there have been occasional stories of bodies of Salvadorenans being found in Chiapas, as well as casas with 12 year old prostitutes.

My understanding is that safe coyote pasage through Mexico costs about $1,000 US.

Funny the way Republicans scream about Democratic fundraising when Republicans typically raise more than Democrats.

A correction to my above post. The $1000 coyote fee would be the low end of Mexico City to Tijuana. You would also need a coyote to get from Chiapas to Mexico City at say $600. If you could find someone to make papers in Mexico City that would be another $600-$800. Bascially it's $2,200-$3,000 to get across Mexico without battling the police all the way. The coyotes are not all on the up and up either. A lot of them are also transporting drugs. I was told this by someone I had become friends with in the States who had been through it both personnaly and thru family members on several occasions.
