They start arriving soon and i have seen a few posts from folks planning to blow this unexpected windfall in the zona. Many people think this is a rebate from your allready paid 2000 taxes but guess what ~it's not really a rebate it's an advance on next years refund. This check will reduce what would have been next years rebate by the amount of the check and could leave some that are cutting it close owing some taxes next year.Nice gimmick to try to stimulate the economy but a bit misleading. Before writing out your replies you may want to read the story located at the link supplied.

My "rebate" check came last Tuesday. Nice gimmick by Bush, because 99.9% of the people will never realize it's an advance on next year's rebate.

Actually it was not a gimmick by Bush, people tend to oversimplify things they dont follow closely. Bush never proposed the rebate checks during the campaign or afterwords. It was the Grassley/Baucus negotiations that brought about the rebate checks. I think its silly because most people are idiots and think these small checks are the whole or most of the tax cut when in fact its a tiny % of it. So people will listen to liberals bitch about how they dont have enough money to flush down the toilet and they will come to the conclusion that it wasnt worth a few hundred bucks.
Bush actually argued against the rebate checks but then decided to give in as a part of the compromise and take credit for them, a tactic right out if the Clinton political playbook and one that works really well. These checks are nothing compared to the total tax cut. Of course lefties moan how its tilted towards the rich. What they dont tell you is that they consider anyone making more than 40k a year rich.
Hell, I think 1.35 trillion is a joke. I think we should slash taxes by 5 trillion and just end this welfare state weve created. But, of course, thats unreasonable because there are just too many soccer moms biologically programed to want to be taken care of and too many people banking on their retirement "windfall" of a thousand bucks a month that wont even be there in a few decades. All in all a sorry situation but Bush and his economic plan are about as far as we can go and still be electable. We will always be controlled and led by the lowest common denominator. Those who seem to cherish being victims and deserving will always have this huge government leash around the rest of us. To me a 1.35 trillion dollar tax cut is a leash thats 1.35trillion dollars smaller. I yield the floor to the gentlemen from Club Hombre...
