Just saw the much-anticipated movie which had rave reviews from Sundance. I thought the movie had a nice Indie flow to it and it was nice to see a movie with an entire Asian cast that did not succumb to Asian stereotypes. A couple of the characters were actually guys who kicked ass in school but also were studly dudes who could probably get any chick they wanted. I wish they would have had more female characters but I liked the directors style and appreciated the frank dialog. It basically shows that second/third generation Asians are not much different than anyone else...the media has always demonstrated filipinos as mainstream(they assimilate quicker) but this was a group of friends of varied Asian backgrounds. Normally you wont see a group comprised of Viet, Filipino and Chinese descent...birds of a feather do flock together but I liked the message the director was trying to send. A movie worth seeing.
