I have grown to despise the word "diversity." The way it is used in this present age, especially in educational settings, is frequently an obstacle to "unum" ...
Too often "diversity" is used to pit racial & ethnic groups against each other in squabbles over power, or what Aurther Schlessinger (sp?)refers to as "tribalism."
It is my hope that Sept.11 will unite us as Americans from various and asundry backgrounds rather than hyphenated-Americans who identify more and know more about our racial/ethnic heritige than about our shared American heritage....The focus needs to shift from that which makes us different to that which we hold in common....

Come on EZY, the problem with you is that you fail to inquibulate that the raghead er muslim culture is neither superior or inferior to ours, only different. You are thinking in a Western linear manner and fail to appreciate that other cultures, without being inferior to our own, may have there own ways of thought. Indeed 500 years of patriarchy and imperialism have problably rendered you impervious to the possibility that maybe the events of the recent past were nothing more than a scared shout for help and approval.
I could go on, but if I do I will probably be offered a teaching position at Brown or Harvard or some other institution of "higher" learning.

On the lighter side, of the world's 6 billion people, most of the school children will amdire the US's National History curriculum - can't be any shorter.
