For those that are in yahoo leagues, you might want to check out Yahoo's salary cap game as well. Basically you draft a team using a $100 salary cap. Player's values fluctuate from week to week based on the year to date performances. The key seems to be to lock in every week studs that are valued abnormally low before their prices rise.
Fun game, but you really don't compete against anyone but yourself unless you're lucky enough to get into the upper echelons of the rankings of all yahoo players.
By Wxdude on Thursday, September 08, 2005 - 05:23 pm: Edit |
DonMarco, I can't believe you dropped Porter so quickly. One hammy report on the wire and you bail.... My prediction is he lights it up tonight against New England. Thats because the guy that "lights 'em up" in the off season will be doubled up all night! Kickoff 2005...YEAH!
wx, perhaps you shoulda noticed I needed to pick up a TE for week 1 due to gates being out?
Ohh and i have no fear of him lighting it up in week 1...
By Wxdude on Thursday, September 08, 2005 - 11:09 pm: Edit |
Well, he would've been something if collins could throw to anyone but moss.... if moss caught all the balls thrown at him tonight, maybe the raiders would have won! Who am I kidding, they are terrible!!!!!!!
wx is your name maximus? You sure use a lot of "if"'s to qualify everything.
By Wxdude on Friday, September 09, 2005 - 03:52 pm: Edit |
well, "IF" I were better looking I would get laid more :-) Hell, "IF" I had a maximus I would get laid more!!!!
Pork, I guess the fantasy gods felt bad for ya and figured they would make it interesting by spotting up some D points... 3 missed FGs, ints, and fumbles, jees... ain't this the NFL?
By Porker on Monday, September 12, 2005 - 08:52 pm: Edit |
Obviously you should never count on things like missed FG's, but counting on the incompetence of Kyle Boller and the scrub that's even worse than HIM backing him up? I'll buy that for a dollar every day and twice on Sundays!
Don't worry, many more in that league will be made my little bitch after you.
heeheh... good luck!
Doughboy mcflab better post better #s next week.

Jeez, DM's crying about McNabb really lit a fire under his ass! Of course now's probably time to trade his ass due to his bitching about injuries.
Personally, I am in a deep depression over the total disappearance of the Colts' passing game. I've had Peyton Manning from day 1 in my keeper league, and have been getting my ASS KICKED by crappy teams so far this year because I've been getting DICKALL from my best player, easily the most consistently excellent fantasy football QB there is, historically. It's not just the early losses I fear, though, but DUNGYBALL. So far this year the Colts have played like they have some rookie scrub at QB who they don't want to fuck up and blow the game. BRING BACK BOMBS AWAY MANNING, DAMMIT!!!
go figure with the colts... I've got harrison and manning in another league and figured I had O passing covered -- WRONG.
Doughboy needs a little more consistency or else Palmer is in! Hear that McFlab?
By Porker on Sunday, October 09, 2005 - 08:54 pm: Edit |
I'm now 0-4-1 in my main keeper league, with the four losses coming in a row. Peyton Manning has only had one game worth a crap so far this year, and my team's not good enough to win if he's actually losing ground to the other team's QB's.
Some of my bad start has been due to bad luck (playing the guy with the Bears D that went off for 42 points in week 2), but it doesn't really matter now, as I'd have to win 8 out of 9 games just to make the playoffs and that would be all but impossible for even the best teams.
I know I take it waaay too seriously, but losing in fantasy football is FRIGGIN' DEPRESSING! It feels like getting punched in the gut, and it's been like TEN AND A HALF MONTHS now since I've won a game.
It's little consolation that Blazers was my little bitch today in the 8-man CH league on yahoo. Won't even need L.T. manana.
By Porker on Sunday, December 11, 2005 - 04:51 pm: Edit |
Well, after that horrible start, I won 7/8 games and was playing for a playoff spot today. Had a 20 point lead on the team with BOTH LT and Alexander with less than 4 minutes to play in the afternoon games, but Trent Green and Antonio Gates went absolutely NUTS at the end of the games. A reviewed catch with 10 seconds left gave Trent Green 300 yards, and my season ended.
2nd year in a row I've finished 2nd in the League in overall scoring, 2nd year in a row I didn't make the playoffs. Both years the champ in my division of our League was the highest scoring team ever.
I love fantasy football, but this sure don't feel good!
Tough luck, there. I'm happy to say that Larry Johnson has both of my money teams into the second round of the playoffs. Alas, the better of the two teams used to start Donovan McNabb. Now we're stuck with David Carr or Chris Simms. Not exactly a fiersome combo, with relatively large money on the line...
Manos.
By Blazers on Monday, December 12, 2005 - 10:01 am: Edit |
2nd Round of the playoffs....you guys are starting your playoffs way too early...makes the regular season pointless.
Well, unless Michael Vick gets 85 points tonight(impossible), then I am in the playoffs again. They dont fuck around in our league, 12 teams in the league and the three division winners are in and one wild card with highest win percentage with points as a tie breaker after head to head. Winner gets 85% of the purse..3.5K. Wish me luck.
By Porker on Monday, December 12, 2005 - 06:03 pm: Edit |
Vick should go nuts tonight on MNF, but sounds like your team got steamrolled yesterday.
Yeah, I'm looking at about 4.5k if I can win both of my leagues. I won my division in both, so I've already made some jack. The better, and older, of my two teams has some problems, though. Namely, no McNabb and built heavily around Edgerrin James and Marvin Harrison. I really need Indy to stay undefeated and hope that Dungy cares more about making history than resting his starters for the playoffs. I have the same problem with the other team, as that one has Peyton Manning at the helm. Good luck to both of us, Blazers. Although, in my current position as a humble publican in a developing nation, I could probably use the green more than you...
Manos.
By Porker on Friday, April 28, 2006 - 09:12 pm: Edit |
Texans pass on Reggie Bush! As a Domanick Davis owner in a keeper league, all I gotta say is WHEW!!!
By Porker on Tuesday, August 29, 2006 - 02:06 pm: Edit |
We gonna have a league this year? My team was insanely good last year before choking in week 16. If we have 8 teams again, OK, but make more starting positions so there's not so much talent floating on the waiver wire.
Oh, and it would be nice to let all you bitches fund my mongering trips! Anyone wanna play for actual CASH instead of HOT AIR?
By Porker on Sunday, November 26, 2006 - 08:17 pm: Edit |
I likely got bounced out of the playoffs in my only league that MATTERS tonight because Peyton Manning plays on a team that's TOO good. Was up several points at halftime of tonight's game, but Westbrook for Philly booked 15 points in the 2nd half, and then the Colts ran the ball EVERY play in the 4th quarter, preventing Manning from getting even 200 yards in the game. Was tied with my opponent for the last playoff spot going into this game, and would have been tied for my division lead with a win too, to play the division leader next week. Now, need quite a bit of luck the next two weeks, and I'm NEVER lucky in fantasy football. Looks like yet ANOTHER year down the drain...
here ye here ye... 2007-2008 Hombre league is open and waiting. At the very least, you try to beat up on the fantasy god blazers every week.
10 team league, live draft, points. If we fill up and more want to join, we can switch it to head to head... depends on demand.

What, no H2H luck factor? You guys don't stand a f'ing chance in hell! When's the draft?
By Porker on Thursday, June 28, 2007 - 02:11 pm: Edit |
2 defensive players and only a 4 player bench?
I hate those head to head leagues unless there's plenty of teams. The default bench is 5-- we'll see how many show up.
Also note the D points-- I tried to strike a balance for CBs, LB, and OL rather than the default tackle heavy settings (LB).

Might be better off waiting for a fantasy football league push. Interest will be a lot higher in August.
draft is coming weekend-- blazers/KM? Stop being a bunch of ladyboys...
Opening it up to yahoo public to fill spots on wens...
By Porker on Sunday, July 08, 2007 - 06:39 pm: Edit |
Again, what's the bleedin' hurry? Do the draft in mid-August or I'm out.
porker- so you think km, blazers, etc will all of a sudden rush in to join in 3 weeks if they haven't done so after 15 posts eh? Not sure I understand your logic there...
With that said, if we don't have at least 5 folks by wens, I'll delay the draft. If we have 5, then I'll fill the remaining spots with public yahoo types.
Don't understand fantasy sports -- don't want to. Sorry DM.
There is not much to understand-- pick the people you think will post the best #s, but no problemo KM-- I was hoping to pad my #s with folks banking on Da Bears ;)
ok-- here we go once again

Hey Da Bears looked invincible in crushing Da Ain'ts in the first pre-season game !
Rex is born again and Cedric the Entertainer looked unstoppable.

Blazers will love this one: In my keeper league, I just traded Peyton Manning and a bunch of trash for Ben Roethlisberger, Frank Gore and Braylon Edwards.
The original deal was Manning for Edwards, Addai and Kitna, but since Kitna isn't much good to me, I spun him and Addai for Gore and Big Ben. Gore's stunk this year and the 49'ers O sure does SUCK, but going into next year he should still be ranked in the top 5-7 range, and the upgrade to Big Ben looks pretty huge to me. Oh, and with the way Edwards is playing, I don't see any way I can lose with this trade.
For all of you out there that don't play in the Hombres' league that DM was pitching this summer, shame on you! Through 10 weeks in a points league, DM has a pretty big lead over the league, and I'm a distant second. We made a trade last week where I got Romo and he got Marion Barber. Maybe he was bored and wanted the standings to look more interesting, or something, but whatever, I will win that trade 20x over. Probably still not enough to catch me up to him in the standings, though. The injury to Andre Johnson really hurt my team and the benches in that league are VERY short.
BTW, simply incredible seasons being put up by Adrian Peterson, Tom Brady and Randy Moss. If you have 2 of those three guys, you're probably the Patriots if your fantasy league right now.
Of course a lingering boo boo to EITHER Brady or Moss, probably means the other instantly reverts to mere mortal status. And Peterson is probably out for the year fantasy football wise. Waiver wire slop this time of the year is usually NOT pretty if you need injury replacements.
I'm trying to get a Fantasy football league started. If you are interested, you can sign up here.

There is a live draft Sun Aug 31st. I need to get 10 or 12 teams in it before Sunday or I'll just go ahead and cancel it.

My team in DM's league:
QB -- Peyton Manning
rb -- Frank Gore
rb -- Portis
wr -- Steve Smith
wr -- Santana Moss
wr -- recently acquired Calvin Johnson
Got only ONE thing to say to everybody in that league:
BEND OVER AND ASSUME THE POSITION!!!
Damn ! Don Marco is still alive ?
Must be working full time on his fantasy team.
Culter to the the Bears-- I can see Mr. Mor kicking his chops. Could be a great fit esp. if they now get excited and pick up some wide outs.
I like it and glad to see Cutler out of thankless Denver and clueless boywonder.
Not for two #1 picks and a quarterback thrown in. The Bears are going to hate this deal in a couple of years.
cat... the bears had plenty of #1 picks over the years and I can't recall 1 quality QB. Cutler can easily be one of the top 3 QBs in the NFL.
A trip to the superbowl will make them all look like rocket scientists.
Agree DM Getting Orlando Pace to bookend Chris Williams is another good move to keep Cutler on his feet. Hopefully they can stay healthy. A decent wide receiver would be a bonus .
Greg Olsen will be a Pro Bowl tight end with Cutler and Matt Forte will find more running room than last year. I'm definitely looking forward to thsi season . This trade was totally oiut of character for Jerry Angelo who has always been Mr Conservative !!
The Bears have never known what to do with a first round draft pick so will not miss them as you said.
Join DM's annual fantasy football league!

DM, I gotta figure out a way I can make mongering cash out of this!

Blazers, when you gonna invite me to join your cash leagues? I NEED THE MONEY!!! (I'm serious)

Nice to see Blazers finally in the mix again. Bend over, hijo!!!
