For what it's worth, both the e in ate (accented) and the first o in logo (unaccented) are open.

Anyone know exactly what the rules are regarding the pronunciation of the letter "d"?
From my understanding, "dia" is pronounced "GEE-ah" (1) and "de" is pronounced "jay" (2).
"Obrigada" has a hard "d", ie "oh-bree-GAH-da".
By the way, "eu" is pronounced "A-o". (rhymes with HEY-yo)
Is this all correct? This is how I hear it.

d followed by o or a is a "hard" d. d followed by e (closed) or i gets an additional "j" sound in most regions of Brazil. t is the same way except the additional sound is "sh".
Eu is pronounced E-W (one syllable).
