Three left, three left!

1. mother - mãe
2. They speak Portuguese - eles falam português
3. my father and my mother - o meu pai e a minha mãe
4. I know a good teacher - Eu conheço um bom professor
5. He told you - ele se disse (Could not find the che word. Is the se correct?)
6. What did you tell you? - o que ele se disse?
7. The films are excellent for learning English - Os fimes são excelentes para aprender inglês
8. But I still don't understand -
Mas eu ainda não entendo
9. Not yet - ainda não
10. And your mother - e a sua mãe
11. You (plural) - vocês?
12. You speak Portuguese at home? - Vocês falam português em casa?
13. Where do you live? (plural) - onde vocês moram
14. I have to go - Eu tenho que ir
15. Then I am going to the movies with my mother - Então eu vou ao cinema com a minha mãe
16. There is an interesting film - Há um flime interessante
17. I have to see this film - Eu tehno que ver este filme
18. Did you not see it? - Você não o viu
19. Wait - Espera

As for as conversation goes, I would kill all pronouns when they are understood by the verb. It sounds better.
For instance: I know a good teacher - Conheço um bom professor or
Did you not see it? - Não o viu?

Here's a site I just came across that might be of interest or help:

They have a word and sentence of the day which you can hear spoken and a proficency test in Brazilian Portuguese along with various other languages. I managed to score a 70% on the test which surprised me after just 21 lessons. Knowing Spanish helped and I also just got lucky on some guesses. If nothing else it was nice to hear the language being spoken by someone different than the same two people day after day. I have visions of learning the lessons from front to back only to trip on the accents of the people I meet. Maybe it's time to look for a radio or TV program in the language. If you can understand what someone says on the air then you can probably wing it fairly well in a real situation.
