It's a minor typo, but I'll correct it anyway as this is perhaps the most important phrase in the language:

Tudo bem? :-)

Doctors and magicians. I have a pronounciation question. In an earlier lesson we learned doctor was mégico. Both speakers pronounce it as if it was the English word "magic" but with an O at the end. Ma-gee-ko. I thought the accented é would have a different sound but that's what they are saying. It is definitely ma as in magic. Tonight I was using my online translator and looked up the word magician. Up came mágico. How do you pronounce this one?

Xenono, you have been making shouts about only having a few lessons left. You're not stopping at #30 are you? I've been copying your written material for each lesson and find that it is super helpful to look at. Sometimes it is hard to fully understand something they say or you would like to actually see it in print. I even took a copy of several lessons with me the other night to a dinner to practice on while we were waiting for a table. If I am going to be muttering aloud in public it's nice to be able to show the people that there is a reason for it.

I am done at 30. My trip to Brazil is later this week.

But it's easy to do the translations. I use a combination of http://world.altavista.com and http://www.freetranslation.com

It takes an hour to an hour and a half to do each one of these because I have to stop, type in the translation and then cut and paste. Sometimes I cannot find the exact words they use and spend time trying to find it with other online dictionaries, but then Sabio comes in to save the day. After this trip to Rio, I probably won't be back anytime soon. I will start up Unit II only if I make another trip.

Sorry.

Xenono:

Thank you for this great effort. The format you created is ideal since many others will be following the same steps, and you raise questions that will naturally arise for others as well along the way.

Tight_fit:

The open e' in medico may come across as "a", but it really is between "e" and "a". The "g" sound you hear is because the "di" is pronounced "dji". As for magico (with an accent on the "a"), the "a" is a normal "a" (the accent just emphasizes that syllable) and the "gi" is pronounced "ji", distinctly without any "d" sound.

Hey Xenono: Thanks for the great job. One of the things I don't like about Pimsleur is the absence of much in the way of written materials, and this series has helped immensely.
