The Magdalene Sisters
Those who are fans of El Crimen del Padre Amaro (reviewed under "Drama," might like another one that gives the Catholic Church a touch of the hell that I expect will greet them when they meet our Creator.
In San Diego, this is currently showing at Hillcrest Cinemas.
The Magdalene Sisters were named after Magdalene in the Bible. As I recall, depending on the reviewer, she may - or may not have been - a hooker.
The Catholics ran laundries, as recently as the 1990's, with the help of enslaved women in Ireland. This movie follows three of the women. The nuns are cruel bitches.

"Amen"
This is not an applause of my previous post on the the movie, "The Magdalene Sisters." Rather, it is the name of another rip into the thin underbelly of the Catholic church. It got 3 1/2 stars out of four in the San Diego Union Tribune on 7.24.03.
It's about the lack of protest of the Vatican of Hitler's "Final Sollution" for the Jews, tho according to this, they were well apprised of it.
I do not know if it is still showing in San Diego. The SD Reader does not list it.
