Pues, we said goodbye to "El diamante negro" anoche and I can only feel that the program will now be much less compelling than it has been...

Say what you will about Roberto Palazuelos (now simply "Palazuelos" to millions of Mexicanos), but without question he is a natural leader...Gifted, charasmatic, driven, and intelligent, Palazuelos continually drove the discussion and dictated the pace of events inside the casa...Nothing escaped his purview...His absence leaves a gaping hole in the program's elenco...

His calling-out of each of the remaining integrantes through the medium of a video feed as he stood at the podium next to Vero last night was as impromptu as it was brilliant-- and it demonstrated once again the strength of his personality...

The suggestion, of course, was that Palazuelos intends to control events even as he stands outside of the casa...In this regard, I wouldn't bet against him...

Re: Isabel Madow

I would be remiss if I were to avoid comment on Mexico's most famous "cualquiera," and her recent rocket-ride to international fame-- or should I say infamy?...

1. It was clear from the very beginning that Madow was overmatched intellectually and socially inside the casa...

2. Blithely ignoring this fact, Madow obviously had calculated to throw herself at the young Monterrey Model Jose Luis and then step back to let the chips fall where they may...

3. In what is unquestionably the public relations coup of 2003, those chips fell directly on to the front cover of every Mexican entertainment weekly, as well as onto the lead story of "La Oreja" for weeks at a time...Even now, the words "La Madow" are never far from the lips of any Mexican entertainment commentator...

4. Madow's seduction of the young chavo in Espana was roundly-- and justifiably-- criticized by the Spanish press...Her halting attempts over there at Euro-sophistication were utterly embarassing...

5. Madow's return to the casa for one last week-- obviously a gratuitous ratings-ploy on the part of Televisa-- was fittingly anti-climatic...It is to the remaining integrante's credit that her presence was largely met with indifference...

6. While Madow's calendar is earning a bloody fortune here in Mexico, I, for one, will be spending my hard-earned 120 pesos on Vica's calendar...

El Travieso just exited, leaving us now with Yolanda and Omar...Probably 30 minutes away now from having our winner...

My official prediction is that Yolanda will win, but Omar has been incredibly strong with the public to this point...

Poor Travieso; he so badly wanted to win and had escaped so many nominations...Banda Recodo was on hand to offer an emotional salute to this Los Mochis native when he arrived at Big Vero's side outside of the casa...
