176 Priests Taken Off Duty Since January

NEW YORK (AP) - At least 176 priests suspected of molesting minors have either resigned or been taken off duty in 28 states and the District of Columbia since the clerical sex scandal erupted in January, a nationwide review of Roman Catholic dioceses by The Associated Press has found. The review also showed that in 18 other states, where priests have not been taken off the job, dioceses still have responded to the crisis in a variety of ways. They include turning over allegations to prosecutors, scouring personnel records to see whether old claims were properly handled, and reviewing and publicizing policies for handling complaints

They will lose millions and thats the bottom line to them.

IMO, religions have tried to suppress sexuality because they are AFRAID of it.. They know that it is a powerful motivator and that SCARES them..

Funny thing is that many so called "rightous" (ie, priests, preachers, nuns, etc.) flee from the "real world" to take refuge in "the cloth"..

Obviously they didn't realize that they cannot run from the GOD GIVEN natural sex urge.. It's unfortunate that they didn't have the huevos to prey on adults instead of little kids..

That is a lot of priests!

It is amazing how many priests (from any religion) tend to be pretty self-centered and sick. There's been some research done on the personality of clergy members. Lots of "narcissism," among other things. The job pulls for some pretty creepy people. And, the "true believers" can be a total pain in the ass. I'm writing as someone who finds much of value in some religious traditions. I'm also writing as someone who appreciates agnostic and athiestic views...

Nineteenth-century Mormonism strongly argued for-- and produced countless tracts in favor of-- polygamy...i.e., the taking-- in perfect legality-- of more than one wife...

As I sit here in the 21st century with a formal gf that I love very much and a heavy heart for the ficha chica I broke-up with-- plus a burning desire to "do" any number of different Zona hotties-- oldschool Mormon orthodoxy suddenly strikes me as being very sound doctrine...

YoungBrig....your handle gives you a certain credibility when you discuss Mormon theology...your namesake,"old" Brig (Brigham Young) practiced what he preached...23 wives if I recall correctly!

YoungBrig, Sex for fun is apotasy for the Mormons. If you want to practice what you preach you're going to have impregnate these quasi-wives of yours and start producing baby Brigs. Mormons even believe that oral sex and any other kind of sexual activity that isn't for the purpose of reproduction is sinful. So buddy, put your money where your mouth is and start reproducing.

Ezy:

23 is probably a conservative figure...His predecessor, Joseph Smith, had 50+ at the time of his martyrdom...

I was in St. George in 2000 and visited Brother Brigham's summer home...Inside they had original photos of his final-- and youngest-- wife, his favorite at the time of his death...

She was actually pretty hot...Think Salma Hayek circa 1875...He may have had a thing for brunettes...

Scarus: Actually, I'm trying!!...

And believe me, I need no introduction to-- or explication of-- Mormon theology...

ah, this discussion brings back many memories....I went to high school in a small Mormon community...all my friends were Mormons, well "Jack" Mormons...They were lots of fun until their parents sent them away on missions for two years...they mostly came back as rather boring automotons...

Ezy,

I grew up in a small Mormon community. I actually ejoyed it and try to go visit my old freinds once a year. Quirks and all in my opinion as a group it is hard to find better neighbors.

No matter what the official line is on premarital and extramarital sex, mormons are just as randy as the next bunch. I know because I lost my virginity to a " Bishops daughter". My little brother knocked one up. Dumb bastard. Anyway, I definitely don't buy into the mormon lifestyle but I admire them anyway.

There is also an old joke. " why do you always take two mormons with you when you go fishing? Because if you take just one he will drink all of your beer.

Who would have guessed that there would be a Mormon topic on this board? Actually Joseph Smith and Brigham Young would fit right into the sg monger scene. One of Joe's wives was only fourteen when he convinced her father that he had been divinely inspired to take her as his wife and consummate the marriage. A large percentage of Smith's wives were under 20 and OldBrig had a fifteen and two 16 year old brides. If any of their relatives objected they could always be sent away on religious missions. What a scam. Smith's doctrine of polygamy actually got inspired by him basically getting busted doing his 17 year old live-in maid. I wonder if this is how David Koresh got started?

Talk about your consummate Monger. Smith kept his hobby a secret from his wife, Emma, and she went to her grave defending his good name.

I remember seeing a topic on this board not too long ago about the lengths that mongers will go to cover their hobby. How about these guys? Let's start our own religion. Then again we'd probably just end up getting martyred...

My wife is a very active Mormon and I used to have another Mormon girlfriend, and from what I have seen once they cross the line by indulging in forbidden activities there's no holding them back. One of my earliest dating memories is of my wife riding me cowgirl holding a bottle of champagne over her head and pouring it all over us.

.........and ya, the Bishop's daughter is HOT!!!

As said before . Mormons are just as Randy as the next bunch. They fuck like bunnies if given the chance.

Not a bad deal for Brigham eh? And before the times of Viagra. But I do not envy them at all.

Serial semi Monogamy with the occasional fling on the side are my thing. I could not handle more than one wife.

I have met several mormons that participate in the mongering and swinger communities. Like I said, good people, not to different from the rest of humanity when it comes to sexuality.

At this time, there have been over 225 priests releived of duty. That sounds like a lot but when you consider there are over 46,000 priests in the U.S., the numbers are miniscule. And before the flames begin, let me clarify. 1 priest abusing one child is one to many. I condone none of this only making a point!

Batster1:

I very much enjoyed your rather generous comments regarding the Mormon community...Even with the "Jackest" of JackMormons, it is hard to find one-- when push comes to shove-- willing to turn their back on Brother Joseph and Brother Brigham and deny the Faith...I, too, find them to be "good people"...

Where did you grow-up, by the way?...Somewhere within the borders of old "Deseret," I presume?...

I have a good buddy who grew up in Inglewood CA Real blue collar family and Morman. Played football at Brigham Young, became a cop (CHP and then later LAPD).

When I lived in Santa Barbara he was my wing man when whoring around town. Great big guy who loved to fuck and fight.

I taught him how to drink.

Can't think of a better friend.

YB,

I grew up in the intermountain west. Spent time in Wyoming, Colorado, Utah. My father worked for an oil company so we got around a little. He worked a stint on contract for Pemex. Thats how I got my first exposure to Mexico. But I went to Junior High and highschool in Northeastern Utah.
