Was curious if we have any amateur bartenders/professional alcoholics (besides me!) around that have preferences for exotic drinks. Or maybe just wanna pipe in about some of their faves. I'll start off by saying that Friday afternoon 2x1 tequila sunrises at the old Hong Kong Club in TJ's famous alley use to whip me into one HELLUVA frenzy to kickoff the weekend. Another drink I learned to love in TJ was Kahlua and milk, though now it gets expensive for me coz I simply gotta add a shot of hard stuff to it, usually brandy or rum, as I live in Mexico.
Cazadores tequila is my fave, and the price is good when not consuming it in BARS. I can't drink much more than 3-4 beers without getting completely bloated, but my recent preference for Mexican beers is Sol.

In the PI they use local gin and rum unless you tell them otherwise, the result is a damned potent drink for a little more than a BUCK (well, in the go-gos, at the restaurants it's 65 CENTS!). Am still partial to Mexican booze, and still have yet to find anything that comes close to a BROWN Russian of Kahlua/Bacardi/Milk/Ice.
Still haven't heard from the South American Set re: what the beer is like there. PLEASE tell me it ain't the land of BUD LIGHT? Bueller? BUELLER???

Just stumbled on this area of the board and had to chime in with my two cents worth.
I've been to Argentina three times, my second trip was the longest (two weeks) and the best. It started on Nov. 2, 2002 and ended on Nov. 17 (one of the saddest days of my life).
On that trip, I spent about six days in the Mendoza area and they sell the shit out of Budweiser there. Go figure. I live in the St. Louis area (birthplace of Budweiser) and like to head out of the country to experience something different.
Although Quilmes is the national beer of Argentina, I walk into this "bikini bar" in Mendoza. There is a square bar with patrons sitting along the outside. On the inside are these beautiful young babes wearing bikinis serving you beer and wiggling to the music.
Their big glass cooler was filled with 40-ounce bottles of ice cold Budweiser and the locals were really pouring it down. I didn't complain too much either LOL. At the exchage rate, it cost me just over one dollar to buy a 40-ounce bottle of Budweiser in a bikini bar in Argentina. Life was good.
In Mexico, if given the option, I'll always drink that famous Monterrey beer, Carta Blanca. Always.

Gregorio, Carta? Say it ain't so!
My recent trip to the PI got me hooked on Red Horse which the locals revere due to its cheapness and supposed potency (a myth, I think. It ain't Singha or anything).
The 'tequila' served in every bar in Angeles was NASTY though. I RARELY vomit, but I think I barfed three nights in a row when it was time to do a 'tequila' shot. Next time I'm taking a carry-on bag just for the booze!
